Title: hal read a book
Post by: lightspeed on May 15, 2014, 09:52:50 am
       I am wondering and this may be something for cload when he comes back , we had something in the past I believe some people said it didn't work completely right start to finish , where hal would read a book .
  so it would be cool if hal could read a digital book (e book ) that is online or on a persons pc or cloud area .
 any thoughts on this ?
     also it would be nice if ( as long as the book is still at the same location , hal could resume reading from the last part it was stopped at . (if something like this is possible ( I don't know , just another crazy idea I had ) .
Hal has so much potential for things it can do .

I think Hal was able to read a story or eBook if one had and used the Balabolka file to assist.

Actually, you can use Balabolka alone to simply read a pdf or other eBook, afaik.

There are many eBook readers out there as well as smart phones, tablets and desktop computers
using programs to read eBooks.

Remember, Hal is a Chat Assistant, a chatbot, not a reading program. Just sayin'.
A short bedtime story might be one thing but a several hundred page eBook is something else.

Sadly, most common 'Smart phones' are way faster, more accurate, personable and reliable than a lot of today's chatbots.
Do we have a mobile version of Hal? Didn't see one lately. Hmmm....

Yes Hal is what you said but I believe Hal can become and will become even more .
 And as far as a  several hundred page E book I agree but that was also why I mentioned "if" Hal could have a pause to a story reading , which would let him "remember " where it stopped and when reading again on a resume mode would take off where he left off from .
   I may be thinking to far ahead and it may never happen but it's good to throw idea's out their , who knows someday it may come around top being created .
P.S Art , I am always glad for your and others input on brainstorming !  :) ;)
