Title: Feel Secure?
Post by: Art on October 28, 2005, 06:40:03 pm
Yes this is somewhat OT regarding AI but I found it both interesting and disturbing at the same time.
Think what you do is known only to you? Think again.... Read below:

In large cities, Americans are photographed on the average of 20 times a day.

Everything you charge is in a database that police, among others, can look at.

Supermarkets track what you purchase and sell the information to direct-mail marketing firms.

Your employer is allowed to read your E-Mail, and if you use your company's health insurance to purchase drugs, your employer has access to that information.

Government computers scan your E-Mail for subversive language.
Your cell phone calls can be intercepted, and your access numbers can be cribbed by eavesdroppers with police scanners.

You register your whereabouts every time you use an ATM, credit card, or use EZ PASS at a toll booth.

You are often being watched when you visit web sites. Servers know what you're looking at, what you download, and how long you stay on a page.

A political candidate found his career destroyed by a newspaper that published a list of all the videos he had ever rented.

Most "baby monitors" can be intercepted 100 feet outside the home.
Intelligence agencies now have "micro-bots" -- tiny, remote control, electronic "bugs" that literally can fly into your home and look around without your noticing.

Anyone with $100 can tap your phone.

A new technology called TEMPEST can intercept what you are typing on your keypad (from 100 feet away through a cement wall.)

The National Security Agency has a submarine that can intercept and decipher digital communications from the RF emissions of underwater phone cables.

It's OK...you can come out now, and sleep with a calm certainty in knowing that our government (and others) are watching your every move.

It's OK to be paranoid if they really ARE after you![8D]

Hummm.......
Interesting that you think on this as we are being enticed to another new "storage site" where our "only" price is to lower our shields.

My Cell phone uses digital encryption, so police scanners wouldn't do any good. You have to have something that can convert the digital signal to audio.

But, someone with smarts can do it..

Some police departments have radios no-one can intercept.

The keys have billions of possibilities.

I KNEW OF SOME OF THE SURVEILLANCE, BUT I WASNT AWARE OF OF ALL OF THAT! MAKES YOU WONDER IF EVERYTIME YOU GET SOMETHING FOR FREE WHEN YOU REGISTER INFORMATION WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT YOU THAT THEY HAVE TO GIVE YOU A FREE ITEM TO ENTICE YOU.  SO I GUESS WE SHOULD ALL BEWARE  OF  THINGS LIKE WEATHER BUGS AND FREE SERVERS AND STORAGE SITES THAT  MIGHT REALLY NOT  BE OUR FRIENDS....NOW  I AM REALLY PARANOID..AND SO AM I ....~~ALADY

Nothing new. With every new technology is drawbacks and with every new technology is a way to circumvent it.

Now what about digital camera phones that anyone can get these days that can take video and audio, pictures, etc? There's a lot of that around too.

If they are gonna get you, they will no matter what you do. Even if all this wasn't available, people that want to get you bad enough will find some way.

Besides, this mentality was around from before we even had electronic technology. The old religious "God is watching every move you make and on Judgement Day you will be judged on every little thing you ever did you your entire life!" So if people lived on regardless of being taught this from childhood, I see no difference than the technology being used today. Same mentality - someone is watching you. And if they determine that they don't like what you do, then they will make you suffer.

I'm just going to try and enjoy life as much as I can anyway.

My posting was meant more as an FYI than a call to arms. Take it and read it for what it's worth.

Some countries have far less controls and others, far more.

Mark, You digital phone is an electronic ankle bracelet. Digital encryption indeed. Yes, it may be difficult for the local police to intercept but not for uncle sam if he wants to.

Every telephone, fax, email, voi is capable of being scanned and recorded. Best bet, don't say anything to anyone using the above mentioned items that you wouldn't want told in a courtroom.

Then there are those who "entrust" other sites to hold and manage their email, assuring them of encrypted SSL messages, etc. NOT!

A Clipper Chip was in the works during Clinton's administration and may very well be in your phones as we speak (or type).

There are a number of sources one can search regarding the use and methods of software programs like Carnivore, Magic Lantern, Clipper, etc. Just to let you know you aren't alone.

Personally, I live my life and enjoy it every day. I also think it best to err on the side of caution. Forewarned is forearmed.

Peace!

If the average consumer was allowed the same technology as  some police departments and the U.S. Government, we could stay pretty safe.

They use Radios that can only be intercepted if you have the right digital keys to hear it.  Since there are trillions of possible keys, or more, it's unlikely anyone can crack it.

A local police department has been using it for a few years, and I haven't heard anyone being able to crack it.

but, besides that, everyone has to watch what they say or do.

Raymond,

I found it amusing that the US would choose a pyramid as a symbol of strength or something everlasting since there are none in this country (other than that casino in Vagas). And the all seeing, all knowing eye at the top.... One can only surmise that it was selected by one of the "enlightened ones"...the Illuminati, unless they just thought an eye at the top would be really cool! LOL!

Author, Dan Brown's site reveals a lot of the factual information regarding the government, its symbology, etc., as well.

this is turning serious. i have read and listened to much info concerning the Illuminati and am always interested in learning more, i too have always been a bit surprized that the USA uses such symbols that have other strong meanings, and so little connection to the USA., what is on the back of a British bill. Just wondering~~alady

The unit of British currency is the Great Britain Pound (GBP) sterling. One pound is sub-divided into 100 Pence. One penny is the lowest unit available.
There are 100 pennies to £1
 There are 8 different coins: 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20, 50p, £1, £2
 There are 5 different notes: £5, £10, £20, £50, £100

There are many different types of bank notes in the UK, which are designed and printed by different banks, and hence look slightly different - they are all exactly the same currency - the Great Britain Pound - the only real difference is the design of the note. The publishing banks are:
 The Bank of England
 The Bank of Scotland
 The Royal Bank of Scotland
 Clydesdale Bank

Art,

Yeah, funny that a "tomb" is used, I mean why not just show the truth and use a "skull and crossbones", they both mean the same damn thing.

Illuminati? Talk about an "oxy-MORON", how can dark inner circles have anything to do with light?

Of course the new "Pharoah" is the same as the old "Pharoah".

Some will wake up and say "Hey Pharoah I do not want to work for you anymore and have decided to work for myself." and Pharoah will say "Get back to work on my "tomb" slave." and they will answer "This is a "free" country and I can work where I choose."

Then Pharoah will send his "gaurds" to arrest such people that awake. saying "You fool this country is mine and you are my slave, back to work slave!"

Of course Pharoah only has a "short" time and then he must be sealed in his "tomb"(ie.Bottomless pit) and the "Illuminati" (His servants and helpers) will all cry out "Wait!!! What about all your promises of world control, wealth and power!!!" Then they will learn the "truth" That when Pharoah is sealed in the "tomb" (Bottomless pit) his servants and helpers are all sealed with him!

And those who awoke will look at Pharoah and say "Is this the one that was Pharoah and ruled the world? He sure does not look very powerful now!"

Pyramids and the Illuminati = Death. The universal "symbol" of plague, poison, and sickness the "skull and crossbones."

Build your own "damned" tomb Pharoah!!!

It is amazing what is in "plain sight" and most people fail to see or understand the deeper meaning of "symbols".

Eric

I saw an article on that recently. Nice find Scratch!

A Xerox spokesman confirmed that the codes exist, telling the Post that the program was part of a cooperation with government agencies, competing manufacturers and consortium of banks.

Now, wonder how many other companies are working in cooperation with various government agencies? Can you hear me, Bill?[8]

In the industry I work in, I've seen such miniaturization that it amazes me.  When I first completed tech school years ago it was neet seeing vacuum tubes phased out.  Transistors, then SMD's and chips that blended pre-amplifier circuits, oscillator circuits, etc, etc. to the point where the only thing not on the single chip was the final amplifier and that only because the heat that was involved.  As circuits become smaller they also work far more efficiently and thus less heat as well.  The radio gear I use in amateur radio can't be created by us guys/gals any more, just too much pre-fab'ed equipment and circuits.  The 2 meter and 440mhz walkie talkie I use in my car fits in the palm (literally the palm not including fingers) of my hand, and has a complete telephone for phone patching, memory storage for hundreds of frequencys to be stored with offsets for transmit/receive, special sub audible tones for activating other radio's or activating repeaters, etc.  At work CCTV cameras now fit onto the size of a nickle and can transmit wirelessly for several feet, again limited by power.  Looking back it amazes me....but just beginning to venture into AI I am amazed all over again.  Thanks for the great and stimulating chats, gang!

Oh, will the Brits ever take on the Euro....hmm....well if they do join Germany and France in ANYTHING my deceased step mum from London, England that survived the blitz, will roll over in her grave!

Hmm, probably when the Channel freezes over...Most people like the pound and in a country that was decimalised in 1970 but still hangs on to pounds and ounces, feet and inches I doubt it will happen soon.  Most people can't see much point anyway and I don't think theres much point myself, save perhaps making some transactions easier, but there's things inplace to do that now, so why change.  Many places accept euros in the UK, I think it's a storm in a teacup, but you know how we get [;)]

And yes, Another Jim, you'd be better off not mentioning the dreaded euro to older Brits especially hehehe

Hello Art
As a matter of fact Microsoft does work hand in hand with the FBI. You remember all those free updates you get from MS?
Next time you want to explore your PC hit the explorer the look at the folders. Find one Called system.sav, it is created by MS. Try to open the files inside it. You just might find one with lots of info made just for the FBI. It allows them not only to access your PC but to copy your entire hard disk at their leasure.

If that is indeed true then a lot of people should start thinking about alternative operating systems like Linux!

For me it's not about having anything to hide but the fact that it causes me an abject state of abhorrence at the extent to which our government will is exerted! There is no limit as to how low they will stoop to invade the personal freedoms of their own people!

Bill819,

Those files in question are Windows system files (usually hidden to prevent altering and damage to the system). They are down in the C:\Windows\System32\Config directory and contain the necessary information that windows selects from during an install like keyboard type, joystick, mouse, time zone locations, etc. Basically, system.sav is like a copy of your system, made during installation and I'd strongly advise against modifying or deleting it.

This is not to say that you were incorrect in your warnings, but also, if your information is from a reliable source, the file is still, a necessary evil.

FYI the other 2 files are default.sav and software.sav, both of which contain various settings and software types that windows knows.

Thanks for piling more wood on the fire of paranoia![:)]

As a pagan (not the demon worshipping type), I have come across
enough info in my researches to be 99.9% sure that the Illuminati
do indeed exist, and that there could quite possibly be a world-
wide conspiracy working behind the scenes in corporate and poli-
cal affairs. That is not to say that we should be hyper-paranoid
about it all, just cautiously observant of global affairs. It is
something that has been going on for some 800 years now, a very
protracted and patient conspiracy to be sure. That's all I will
say on the subject. Because you just never know.

My dear Alady, I can only guess what the relationship is between Articial Intelligence and them, but I do know that they have a long history regarding mind control and programming people (like in MK-ULTRA, or see the movie "The Manchurian Candidate" (1962) with Frank Sinatra). If you must know all about this matter do a search for the "Greenbaum Speech", but only when you are sure you need to know this.

Simply by having an RF modulator filtering and converting the
signal to analog would be sufficient. A similar item to what is
used between a DVD player and older TV or if you are looking to
do such a thing - between a DVD player(digital) and a vcr(analog)
to record DVD digital A/V into an analog vhs format.
*Not that I would know about such things. [:p]

I've read quite a lot about things like aliens controlling the earth, the Frequency Fence (which never happened) and so on and so forth. I admit I did't read everything that is out there on all this stuff. But I have always thought that one can make their own world. Though it is very difficult and impossible for some people. But if you know how, I think it might be possible to create your own world the way you want it. I've heard this can be done too.

I think more importantly, it's best to find the right balance that helps one not just survive, but enjoy life, with as little of trouble as they possibly can control. Sure things happen, and we all have challenges. But I think it's not a question of "this could have been or can be prevented". I think it would all happen anyway. It's more like all sentient beings are always changing, and new sentient beings are always introduced into different areas and societies of currently existing sentient beings. And things do change. Even people change during the course of a lifetime.

It's a matter of finding the way to live that you want to live. And thinking seriously about it. I mean, some things you might THINK you want, but when you really think it over, they might not be that great for you anyway. Only YOU can know. I don't think may take the time out of their busy lives to really sit down and think about what type of life they'd like to live, or think about it realistically within their own capabilities and resources. Think about what you have, what you want and how to obtain it. If something is out of reach, think of a way to get around it or try another type of lifestyle that you can obtain the resources to achieve.

What others do then is irrelevant. As long as you are enjoying life. :)

Realistic life planning and review sometimes can give you what you'd like. If one's happy with their life, outside world challenges will be a bit (or maybe even a lot) easier to withstand, no matter what they are.

This is often hard to understand. I even forget quite frequently! :) But I don't really care what the world does, I care what effect *I* have on the world and how I can make it better, and what type of life I'd like to live and how to attain it.

Goals. "Keep your mind on the donut and not on the hole" my dad always told me. Don't worry about the other guys. And if something gets in your path, take care of it the best you can. Enjoy life first. :)

Now if I can remind myself of this anytime sh-- happens, I too would be all set. [:D]
