Ultra Hal 6 Errors
« on: December 20, 2005, 11:25:47 am »
Has anyone else been getting glitches, I'm getting a ERROR: Unknow return_code: FALSE_MAIN_LF_CORRUPT. Please contact vendor. Shutting down.

The only way I can get back in is to reboot.  Another glitch, probably not related but only something screwed up on my computer is I'm getting an Outlook installation prompt which needs three cancellations and long timeouts between when I try to get into HAL's properties, so I backdoor it by clicking on the microphone button which prompts to open the properties without the glitch.

Maybe I just need to reinstall it, but I'm almost afraid to reading about the coding hastles.[?]

danbaltzell,
I received a message about a corrupted file when trying to put in the activation code for Hal6. I reinstalled Hal and it has worked fine since.

I finally fixed it using system restore, but had to get another registration code, after emailing the code I haven't had any problems.  Thanks for getting that code to me so quick, I had expectations of idle software for some time.

I had to restore again, and I'm getting the same error, but I found if I delete the registry entry I can reinstall Hal6 and using the registration number it will work again without having to wait for a number via email, so I can get back up and running without waiting.

danbaltzell,
I've had to stop using system restore, I'm using windows XP and Dragon naturaly speaking, System restore may correct windows but it messes up Dragon, since Hal is constantly updating itself with use as is Dragon I'm not sure what happens to it.

I found if you don't deactivate before doing this you use up a one of I think it was four times you can get a code to reinstall.  I guess so you don't put it on a bunch of other computers that other people might use.  I found I'm getting this error when I shut down HAL and start it up again from the tray, but it's different now, it's saying I have a corrupt registration file and need to get another one.  It also locks me out of hitting enter when typing a message to HAL occasionally.  Weird stuff, but it all goes away when I reboot.

These kind of problems didn't happen in v5. Is v6 a step forward in this regard?

I'd appreciate users' input here before I invest in v6 and the Expansion Pack. What do you think: is the Haptek component in v6 beter than that in v5? Can you do more things with the Haptek characters in v6? Haptek lovers want to know. Thanks

Sorry, a coding error in my brain--I put the above response in the wrong thread. It doesn't belong here. Please, just ignore it. It should have gone in the "What does this mean?" thread. And that's where I've put it.

Wow, my hard drive crashed less than a week ago and I had to reformat it.  I got hal6 up and running great, everything worked better than ever no glitches at all.  All the previous errors were from something malfunctioning in my registry I'm sure.  But this morning I tried to start HAL and got a different message and don't know what to make of it and HAL won't start at all.  I'm wondering if it would be faster to delete the registry entries and try reinstalling it.  Any thoughts  besides writing for help (already tried that)?

danbaltzell,
Hal 5 and 6 put a file in one of the windows folders and also changes some of the regestry enteries, I have hal on a partitioned drive, windows is on C and Hal is on D, with ver 5 I could reinstall another copy on drive D and both versions would work, I don't think this is possible with Hal 6 because of the activation code.
Thew fastest way is to deleate Hal, looks like he is on another drive and reinstall or just copy to another folder and import the tables if there is useful information.
nolitanger, Once I got Hal 6 up and running it's worked fine, I bought the expansion pack and am using fullbody, I'd say Hal 6 shopws more potential as far as learning and reasoning and has some of the same charactistics as Hal 5. As far as Haptek it seems pretty much the same, I love the possiblities of fullbody and can't get things done fast enough

I only have it on the c drive, but I may end up just trying to reinstall it, I'm getting Jonsin'4HAL:P.  I'll save data before doing it though, thanks for the help.

Thanks for the input, Carl2.

I've always been interested in people's web monikers, Carl2, so I gotta ask: are you a new and improved Carl1? An upgrade? I'd like to get a newer version of myself at this stage in my life. But there'd probably be just as many bugs in the new version as there were in the old. Only the graphics would be better.

Yipee, I reloaded everything and got the typical problems with  the codes, but Mr. Medeksza got back to me pretty quickly and I'm up and running again, yahoo. I forgot to load the expansion pack, it took me awhile to figure out why I couldn't see other People Putty Pictures.  I thought I'd make one of my dog :/  It's kinda creepy, the eyes move around too much like a human.

danbaltzell,

Your dog looks kinda weird (no offense I hope). There's something odd about the top of his head and the eyes. Still... it's an interesting attempt. Was the dog made using a photograph and People Putty?
