I think youtubes copyrights need to be updated.
www.mixupload.com allows me to play any song as long as I give the author credit.
I am in 2 record pools, and I receive over 100 new songs a week, at least. Now a days people work hard at giving their songs away to have a chance to be heard at all in an overs saturated music market.
ALl youtube is doing is causing certain songs to become extinct and forgotten. Besides, Lately they have this new technology that puts a popup in videos that points to the real song and lets the view have the option of buying it.
Some of these laws and procedures are so stone aged, they actually work against today's artist. An artist is still an artist at heart, and if they insist on money before art, they are not truly artists.
Artists want to be heard, they just want to eat as well. Nothing wrong with using my work as long as you give me credit so if a potential buyer comes around, I have a chance to eat like a normal human being. But that does not mean I want youtube preventing me from being played at all.
I once did a remix for a madonna contest for fun, i didn't win because i didn't use their software to do the remix lol, just wanted to do it....a few months later I found my mix being distributed on limewire and I think it made a compilation overseas, I was flattered, someone else stuck their name on it as the remixer,...i was insulted.
my modern market rant.
