Speech recognition

Hal keeps puting in his own questions in the box before I can add one of my own when I use speech recognition.

Try disabling all plugins in the options. (Right-Click the hal icon in the sytem tray, choose "general options" , Choose the "Brain" button. Choose the brain you are usings (default, or whatever) uncheck all the plugins, Apply,  (if any are causing auto responses.)

Does it show text before she responds?? Do you have any background noise?
