Head Character (s)
« on: November 28, 2006, 11:35:08 pm »
I put up a few head characters for downloading.  I will try to add to these daily.  It's a free web site, so the bandwidth is limited, so if page says can't load, it may be busy.  Yahoo also puts up a couple of pop ups.

Hi tedathome,

First of all you need to make sure that your system is set to
recognize the different file association for the files since
Hal only uses the haptek file formatted as .htr. While the
stand-alone hapPlayer recognizes the .haptar file extension.
But unless you reset the file associations for those file
extensions, your system will assign both of them to the HapPlayer.

You can make sure that the file extensions are set to the proper
association by opening the Windows "Control Panel" and in the top
menu bar open Tools, and then Folder Options. This will open a
small tabbed window, go to File Types and scroll down the list
until you see HTR, you will then need to click on HTR, this will
open a box that shows the Details for "HTR" extension. If this does
not show as being assigned to UltraHal Assistant you will need to
click the Change button which will open another window displaying
a list of Programs to choose from, just select UltraHal Assistant
and click OK. Then close all the open windows. This has now set
the proper file association so that the system will recognize .HTR
as belonging to Hal.

Now, since PeoplePutty saves characters in the .haptar extension
by default, any character you create will need to have the .haptar
extension renamed. This is done the same way as you would rename any
other file; by right clicking on the character file and then left-
clicking on rename, but you only want to change the file designation
so back space through the .haptar part back to the "h" and then type
in "tr" to make it .htr  you can then place the renamed character
file into the character folder for Hal. You will find the character
folder by navigating on your "C" drive to

C:_Program Files_Zabaware_Ultra Hal Assistant 6_Characters

simply copy your character.htr into the folder named Characters.
Once you do this, you can start Hal as usual and you will find
the new character listed in the UltraHal Control Panel Characters
Menu.

However, this will only work if you have a licensed copy of
Ultra Hal and also have the Ultra Hal Expansion Pack installed.

Hope this helps. [:)]
