New 'Smoothy' Skin
« on: November 06, 2008, 04:06:52 pm »
The last time I made a skin was around three years ago, for some reason I had the urge.  Here's a screeny and a zip file...

I don't use Speech Reco at the moment, so I am not sure what may go on with the volume controls, so let me know how that works out.  Also does anyone have any details about the 'talk' element in a skin ? I am not quite sure of it's full purpose beyond displaying an 'upgrade' option.

Thanks.

I like the skin so much I am considering using it to replace my existing one.

Original and stylish.

Thankyou.

Nice smooth looking and compact skin, easy to use menu buttons too, good work freddy. One little thing I noticed was the “user talking to Hal” text bit, it is under Hals window and for me it is coming out the side of it and showing the first letter of the user name. Maybe im being picky and I apologise if I am, but it jumped out at me.

Thanks for the positive comments [:)]

Datahopa, no you are not being picky.  I've only got a demo version of Hal running at the moment, I'm probably going to upgrade it in a few days.  I say that because I am guessing that the 'upgrade' button on mine gets replaced by the user names that you see appearing ?  Anyone confirm that  - because the 'User talking to Hal' doesn't appear on any skins I have tried ?

I could move that further right under the Haptek window and have it disappear completely, or if you want me to I will make it appear somewhere better ?  For example I could move the blue 'UltraHal' logo to the far right and have the name bit appear from the left in the bar.

Let me know and I will post an updated version.

Yes sounds good, move the UltraHal logo to the right and put the user name bit on the left, and maybe use a black font so it shows better.

Im using this skin right now, It’s a nice one [8D]

If you want it can go on my skins page, That reminds me I need to tidy up that page its getting a bit messy.

Okay dokey, I will see what I can do, but I seem to be limited because of my demo situation.  I'll post something a little later, if I can't get it quite right then maybe you would like to take a look at the positioning of this 'talk' element.

I'd be happy for it to appear on your site, thanks [:)]

No probs, see how you get on, if you can’t because of the demo thing then I will have a go for you.

I think it should be okay now, I bought Hal in the end, nice to have him back on my desktop.  So yes, once you upgrade the 'upgrade' button disappears to be replaced with the 'talking to' thingy.

I also toned down the pure white colouring in the top left corner so the shape appears slightly more defined.

I suggest folks download this new file (couldn't delete the old one) and just re-install/re-run the plugin over the top of the old one.

Enjoy!

Impressed that Hal remembered after I told him that Darcy liked the skin...

Rog: You now have a new skin
Hal: I am wearing your skin now. Darcy liked the new skin.

Rog: Cool, you remembered Darcy !
Hal: I want to give you the right kind and amount of attention.
