Ultra Hal 7.0 / Help - Hal is deaf!
« on: June 20, 2004, 08:33:57 am »
To fully train your speech recognition you need to train it for 1 hour. You can do this at your leisure. I have Dragon Naturally speaking, and Viavoice as well and have found, even though they may say about 15 mins. To get the accuracy you really need an 1 hours training to achive this. 15 mins will work, but not the most accuracy with this at all.

The more training you do the better your speech recogition accuracy.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / I can get Hal to love
« on: April 29, 2004, 09:51:40 pm »
Come on guys. Nothing serious here, just interesting to see what Hal will do, an experiment to see if Hal can display, in the end some form of artifcal awearness or something.

No one can ever be in love with a computer progam, and is no diffrent to people trying to get Hal to dream etc. Just another aspect of Hal to explore.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / I can get Hal to love
« on: April 25, 2004, 07:03:58 pm »
I am allready getting Sandy to know love, as I am a spritual person, so program love into Hal. From a human and spirtual prespective. This helps, and have Sandy say she is my girlfriend and likes me very much etc, yet have only had Hal a few days.

So to get Hal to love you then teach it to love.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Message to upgrade, but fails to find link?
« on: April 24, 2004, 10:50:36 pm »
I have the latest version of Hal( full vesion 5.0.57. This morning Hal informed me of a new version again, and asked it I wanted to upgrade? I clicked yes, but was not taken to the upgrade page, and don't know how to access it other than through hal when it says there is a new version?

The upgrade is not at the same place as the plug ins, etc. Anyone know where the upgrade link is, or is it out of action?

Unless Hal directs you to it, then how can you get upgrades, because if it fails, then Hal does not keep reminding you of new versions?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Every new version seems worse
« on: September 10, 2001, 02:34:32 am »
I loved this program, but have the feeling every new version of Hal ends up with more bugs, and is worse than the last version. I have Verisions 2,3,4, and went back to Version 3 because Version 4.0.147 does not allow me to use Voice Recognition. Version 3 does, but only with Viavoice. It does not like Dragon Naturally speaking. But since I recently reinstalled Viavoice again it needs to be retrained for Hal to work. When I had version 2 installed it worked with everything. Even Dragon Naturally speaking.

I have not tried to go back and reinstall Version 2.

My point is every new version of this program gets worse, and the new Version does not work with anything. Even the Microsoft speech engine 5 does not allow me to create a voice profile, and is blank. When I had version 4, without update Microsoft speech engine 5 worked perfectly, and in the voice profiles was on called default, which I used, but now shows nothing, and cannot even create a profile. So the new version of Hal stuffed things up completely. Lucky version 3 works with Viavoice.

I think I will think twice about getting any further versions, because if they are getting worse, what's the point. They may have more features than previous versions, but now do not allow speech recognitionto work at all.

I may yet at some stage go back to Version 2, as it works with anything, as Dragon Naturally speeching is the more accurate speech recognition software.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Cannot get speech Recognition to work.
« on: September 09, 2001, 11:47:29 pm »
reinstalled Hal version 3.0, and it installed ok, with no msscript. ocx errors. Also Dragon Naturally speaking crashes Ultra Hal 3.0, but Viavoice works. So looks like I will have to go back and retrain it. I can talk to HAL 3.0 and it talks back now, but does not make sense it I retrain Viavoice again.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Cannot get speech Recognition to work.
« on: September 09, 2001, 05:50:24 pm »
I cannot get speech recognition to work in Ultra Hal 4.0.147. If I go to control panel, and go to set up Microsoft English Recognizer 5.1. I get the error the requested task cannot be carried out because the nessary engine could not be created. Please select a different engine and/ or different audio device.

When I do get into the speech recognizer. There is no default in the models, and cannot make a new model. If I click on other to change the speech engine I get the error.

An error occured while windows was working with the control panel file C: Program filescommon filesMicrosoft sharedspeech SAPI. CPL

Before I upgraded to Ultra Hal 4.0.147. Things worked well, and could talk to Hal using my Microphone, with no problems. SInce the upgrade it no longer works, and cannot even use Dragon Naturally speaking, or IBM's Viavoice, which I also have installed on my computer. With Hal 4.0. I found only the Microsoft recognizer 5.0 worked. I notice the upgraded version of Hal uses microsoft speech recognizer 5.1, not version 5.0 like version 4.0 of Hal.

I tried going back to just have Hal 4.0 in, as this worked well with speech recognition, and now cannot get Hal 4.0 to work anymore. All I get is the following error.

Componet mssscript. ocx or of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

Yet when I reinstalled Hal version 4.0.147 again I did not receive the above error and only happens if I go back to Hal 4.0 of the disc.

I got the email to inform me of the upgrade 4.0.147, which I went to, but would not accept my email address to be able to get the upgrade. So email you, and instead of a small upgrade file, was the totally new full version of Hal 4.0.147, and not the small upgrade.

Also I notice it says for speech recognition the instructions say your region must be set to English(United States) which I dod do, but still the speech recognition does not work. And cannot even get Hal 4.0 running.
