Why won't hal lipsync with my ogg file??
« on: June 20, 2006, 09:22:24 am »
I converted a mp3 to an ogg file. I dropped it in the haptek player, but no lipsync. What's the deal?

I remember one day I found a way to make the ogg without people putty, you have to use the HapSPXFactory.exe from the haptek guide and have a phoneme file it's a .phn file with a bunch of numbers like this

#Haptek Version= 1.0  HapType= phn FileType= text

PhonemeData
16 7.408000
208 45
64 108
31 114
80 73

then it must compile it into a header for the ogg to use as a means of mouth movement.  I thought theoretically one could just change the numbers and get different forms for the phonemes, but I didn't get that to happen.  I thought it could be possible to make a editor like they sell for matching the voices and eliminating the music which makes the lips move also.

If I knew People Putty would be worth it to me, I'd buy it.

I use mostly full body haps.

Here's something I found in the Haptek Guide under speex:

"Speex is a compression codec optimized for voice data. Typical compression can be as much as 100x.

HapSpxFactory.exe is a command-line only utility for converting .wav files to .spx files.
The .spx files contain embedded lipsynced phonemes, and can be played back in version 4.11.17 or higher of the haptek player.

Usage:

HapSPXFactory [-q <quality 0-9>] <wave file name (wildcards ok)>The command should convert all WAV files specified to SPX.Any  HNT files with the same name as the WAV in the same directory will be used as a hint file for phoneme generation. The quality setting defaults to 1 if it is not specified. Examples:HapSPXFactory -q 5 C:mysounds*.wavHapSPXFactory C:anotherset\blahblah.wav Note - if ...\blablah.ogg  and/or  ...\blahblah.phn exist, they may be destroyed by HapSPXFactory"

It says it generates a phoneme file(PHN) by default, which contains a list of the phonemes and the times they should be played, but I didn't get it to do that.  It says it imbeds it in the ogg file though, but it didn't do that the first time I tried it so I borrowed the phoneme file from a people putty conversion I had done earlier.  When I put them together I got a lipsynch, but it was synched to the people putty wav file I got the phoneme file from not the wav file I was converting with HapSPXFactory.  I looked at the phoneme file and saw it was ASCII and could be edited, but didn't have enough time to discover it's secrets to control the lip movement.  Neil said he has a Phoneme Editor from Haptek, I forget what it cost (over $100), but I remember it was too pricey for me, there's too many other toys I want.  The Haptek Guide details it also.  I thought it was enough I had People Putty and could do the lip synchs, but then I found the background music was being lipsynched also.  Now I'm thinking of putting headphones on and listening to the music while recording my own voice into a wav and converting it to ogg with PP then overlaying and matching that created video with the original music and a background.  A lot of work it seems though, especially when you start throwing in a HAP for movements or multiple movements, and camera angles.  I thought it would be nice to take my own video for background surround and then put in the figure and time it so it looks similar to what they did in the Matrix.  Just a thought.

Why won't hal lipsync with my ogg file??
« Reply #9 on: July 14, 2006, 08:48:50 am »
Man did I mess up it was the HapSpeexEnc.exe not the HapSpxFactory.exe.  I couldn't get HapSpxFactory.exe to work at all, but it makes an spx file which can be dropped on like an ogg.  I tried using PP to make another phn file last night, but it wouldn't, I don't know how it happened to create the other.  But I started looking at the file and found the first number is the number of phonemes it uses in the file, which was helpful, now all I need to do is figure out the phoneme numbers and the timing, seems I found a file once that had the phoneme numbers in it, and I'll have to try it with a ascii hint file -H.  Moving slowly but steadily.
I found the file yipee2.phn was an ascii and could be edited.

I used a command line as (which created the goodbye.spx in the root directory (important to put in the directory)):

HapSpeexEnc --Haptek C:yippee2.phn C:goodbye.wav C:goodbye.spx

Alright, step by step.

Say I got "myspeak.wav"

What do I do to turn it into a lipsync .ogg?
