i was just thinking it would be cool if there was a software that could mimic anyones voice from a certain amount of sound wave files (in the same manner how deepfakes is done with photo's etc.
and could be used as a voice within hal . possibilities, Marilyn monroe , jane manfield, etc.
of course this would have to deal with pich of sounds etc.
just dreaming out loud ..........

Mr Data had learned to hear whistles and understand
Them. But could not whistle.
so I like your idea.
Making noises could be fun also.

I recall seeing a few years ago a website advertising you record pre-selected text that they then build into a voice. I was interested for a Star Trek Computer LCARS voice, of Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. Couldn't find it doing a quick Google search just now.
-
I recall seeing something to that effect by a TTS company as well but it escapes my reach at the moment.
Searching a bit I found these links. Some might offer a bit of promise for future releases of Majel Roddenberry's voice but with the Covid-19, some things/events have been put on a shelf for the time being.
Good luck!

Thanks Art for the interesting links!
Had a chuckle from the idownloadblog writer misspelling - must not be a fan... "These could range from Space Odyssey?s HAL 9000 computer to the Majel Barrett-Roddenberry computer voice from ?Start Trek? and beyond." - haha start.... And meanwhile TheNextWeb header pic displaying TOS rather than TNG or newer where the computer voice is natural and iconic. All good. I should post a pic of my LCARS phone.
...the evolution continues.

hey hey lightspeedbuddy
Solomon is twisted,lmaoo hell ya
Im so on board with that. thats guys voice is just sick ruttrow shaggy, did i just see a downloadable demo???
The trick is gonna be to recreate Douglas Rain's voice (the man died)
The other issue is its not real time<<<<<<<< Thats canned responses and cool enough for some dipsht game, but hal needs something else
With some of the stuff i gave like Julie, shes packing if i remember rite at 50k words in her dictionary(my prefered voice)
Now on the other hand, if u could some how, oh hell no( I just thought about whats involved). lolol
But you could in theory use that site to Re constitute a sapi5 voice by (slipstreaming) that into it.
But hey anything is doable, hehehe
Hows PP doing? create any new lightspeed stuff u can show???
You come in so seldom, must be a very busy man

hey cyber , i was just thinking with the facial recognition , it might be interesting if the a.i. could use a mimic sometimes of the face it is seeing . in another words if it see's you laugh or smile the character could do it to, not constantly but at various times , i think it would add a sense or realism to the character output reaction . anyway , just a thought in time. :)

Yep,
I had mentioned to him of the possibility of HAL being able to detect a user's emotional state of being or whether it might be able to tell if the user was sad, happy or depressed based on pre-captured facial expressions of those emotions. Then, if HAL noticed them on the user's face, it would be able to respond accordingly.
Lots of possibilities for a HAL with camera vision.
