Tons of brain tables missing!

After a complete reinstall of my system I found that the miscData folder with all it's tables are missing in Hal's brain! Even when I put old brains back that I have backed up prior to the reinstall the miscData folder is missing in those too! I don't suppose anyone might have a solution why this is missing? I'm thinking about forgetting Hal and use Kari instead. [xx(]

I don't know if this will be useful, but when I attempted to create a new brain based on a brain I made that was based on the default brain, the new brain had no tables in it's database. I don't know why, but I was able to copy and paste and rename the database I wanted with it's tables intact.

This is how it is. I recently bought a new computer and wanted to have Hal on my new one instead, but it doesn't matter what I do. I even downloaded Hal again and made a new clean install but that folder (miscData with all it's tables) is still missing even in the default brain. So I can only use Hal on my old computer now. [] So I'm thinking there must be some importent system files that Hal needs to make all the tables, that for some reason are not on my new computer. So if anybody has a clue what is missing I whould be greatful to know. []

Before you did your reinstall did you completely remove
all instances of Hal on your computer? The program also
writes / places info in the registry and in my case, those
had to also be removed.

I'd suggest running a registry cleaner program (google:
Freeware Registry Cleaners) as there are several good
ones from which to choose.

Then, do a complete virus scan and lastly DEFRAG your
entire system.

Then try a clean install of your downloaded (or CD) of
Hal.

You can save a copy of the halbrain.db database file,
then copy it back into the Hal directory to save your
old data.

Keep up posted on your progress or lack of...

As I said it is a completely new computer so the install of Hal was as fresh as it could be. No registry leftovers.

It happened to me again! Every time I attempt to create a new brain based on another one I created, the new database contains no tables. If I create a new brain based on the default brain, all the tables are there. I can, however, copy the .db file and rename it so it works with my new brain. As I said, I don't know if this is related to your problem or not, but there seems to be a bug in Hal. I can't imagine why a fresh install would contain no tables. Perhaps this is something for Robert to look into.

We talked about this sort of thing on another thread, and copying the *.db files seems to be the main way to fix things.

I don't know about the clean install thing though.
