Hal Ultra Windows 7 x64 installation problem
« on: May 02, 2010, 04:10:32 pm »
Hi,
I used the Halreader for a long time on my win2k system, now I got a new computer with windows 7 64bit and tried to install the Ultra hall reader but failed.
The Installation starts normaly, I can choose a folder and the installation begins... but stops while the status is "creating folders"
an error message apears: "Error 1609. An error occured while appiling security setting. User is not a valid user or group."

I tried to run the insallation in administartor mode - no difference
I tried to use the compatibility mode - no difference

If you got any idears, I would apreceate it greately.

I have Windows 7/64 bit.  I Have the TextToSpeech (TTS) I think you are talking about and it works ok for me, so does Hal 6.2

Thanks for your answer.
Yes I'm talking about the Ultra Hal TtS Reader 1.0.5
If its not the new windows version that's causing problems I wonder what it could be[?]

i don't know if there is any kind of machine tag (hardware id) with that installer/download
i have no idea, but i think ultrahal has a hardware id, so that you have to uninstall it from the original machine (so zabaware sees it happening ) then install it on a new one.
i don't have any idea if this is the same way, but if it is:
might try downloading the reader again, and installing it, or try contacting Robert. [:)]

The problem is that you may need to enable the ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT in users..... Then logon as the ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT.... INSTALL the program for ALL USERS....

IT would seem that the account that you are working with has some issues......(permissions)......

I always change my UAC Settings to DO NOT NOTIFY....
