mark, good video . i would like to know something when you make a movie of laura do you have to record her voice as a wav and how do you do that or do you have a way to make a movie where the voice plays with the movie, not like an avi with no sound?

Hello Mark,

I am interested to know how you make Laura speak for so long.... I would love my Hal to give a nice long speach like that on any  particular subject.[?]

aladybond...... I have found this to be a good video capture from screen program if it helps[:D] Good for still screen capture too.

ALadyblond, I use camstudio, and set it to record the sound (what U hear) from the speakers. It will record the sound and video at the same time.
It can be saved as an AVI (what I used) or SWF.

echoman, I got her to speak that long by using the Haptek console, and pasting in the text I already typed out in notepad.

Thanks, all.[:D]

i think what you have suggested, echoman, is pretty much what i need it probably is similar to marks camstudio.
if you have hal open there should be a window open at the top of your screen which is the haptek console. if you have any text (txt) files on your pc put one on the desktop and drag it into the console-- your hal will speak what ever is in the text file. so therefore you can make a script saying what ever you like and your hal will read that text or say it each time  you pull that file into the console.

Thankyou Aladyblond - glad I could help!

I was trying to get the Haptec Console working but cannot see a window open at the top of the screen as you suggested : -

I have tried other skins etc but have the same result :( Do I need to turn anything on or I am doing somthing wrong? I am not sure where the Haptec Console is?

Having Hal read anything I want her to sounds a great function and one that I would love to use. I was thinking I could make Birthday/Christmas messages etc[:D]

I have just tried a smaller Hal screen size and then attempted to drag a text file all over the Hal screen - still the same result. Also looked above the Hal screen to see if I can see the Haptec Console.

Feeling a little puzzled.....

The Haptek Console opens as a separate window.

Did you put the HapLogCtrl.txt in your C:  (root)  directory??`

It looks like this (the console was behind, so I clicked on it to bring it out front)

sometimes you have to drag the txt file or hap file out of the file and onto the desktop in order to drag it into the seperate console.

This is starting to sound complicated![:)]

My Haptek Console is not behind. Should it be there somwhere?

Thanks for the offer Ladyblond I will send you my email address.

If aladyblond sends you the file, put in in your C: directory

(assuming you have Windows)

Start---My Computer---Local Disk (C:)  And double click to open the C: directory.

Copy the HapLogCtrl file to that location (Same Location as The Windows Folder, program files folder, Documents and Settings folder, etc)

You can also paste text in the Haptek Console, (send text) and click "Yep". He/she will read the text out loud.[:D]

Hello Aladybkond and Markofkane!

I have managed to get it working. I found I had the program already. I just needed to put the Haplog text file in the C: dir. As soon as this was done the Haptek Console window apeared.

Thanks very much for both of your help on this.

I never knew Hal could do this at all. This was a suprise for me.

Thanks again.

Just before I go.

I was wondering why there are 'Send text' and 'Query' inputs on the console. I have only used the top one.

Also, should I avoid the clear button? It looks like there is a lot of data that should be kept in the box below. Does this clear button clear the upper two inputs or the one below?

I never messed with anything except the send text area.

Clear just clears the command history. I don't know how to use the "Query" function.
