Ultra Hal 7.0 / Looking for a list of all HAP commands, switches
« on: April 01, 2008, 10:01:42 pm »
I've collected a LOT of commands that can be used in the viewer to control the character, but there are a few things I'm still looking for switches, states, etc to accomplish.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW... where a complete list of all these commands are?  I've been searching for the last few days and I have not found such a document.

Thanks!

You make some good points... I need to add those points to my thoughts on this subject and reevaluate.

Doesn't look like this is an idea that many are interested in... only 28 view and 0 replies over the last couple days.  This seems like it would be rather important to me, at least important to the way I plan on using the interface.

FOUND IT!

In Ultra Hal's options, Speech, "Use Speech Recognition"

If you remove the check from this box, it will THEN wait until you press ENTER.

That's what I'll do to fix mine for now, however I would like to eventually have speech recognition on and have it still wait for ENTER on the keyboard input, hopefully there is a way to do this.

On a related note, In UH's Options, Speech, when you click on the "Select SR Engine...", what recognizer does everyone use?  I have two choices...

1. Microsoft English Recognizer v5.1
2. SAPI Developer Sample Engine

I have the "Microsoft English Recognizer v5.1" selected.

With the MIC button off and the microphone not selected and turned all the way down in the MS mixer, it still does it.  I don't think this is a microphone problem.

I'm thinking that it may have something to do with the "Free Will Choice and Profile" brain plug-in.

One of the functions of the brain plugin I'm working on is to apply HAP files to the viewer by trigger phrases, conditions, etc.  And by adjusting the x, y, z numbers in the HAP file, I've found the following information about movement I thought I'd share with those interested.

Using a 400x400 pixel jpg image for background
Using a standard HTR head figure

-------------------
z = depth (+ = further away) (- = closer up)
z= -40  face close up
z= -30  head close up
z= -20  near full figure head to chest
z= -10  full head to chest with about 40 pixels extra
z=   0  full head to chest with about 120 pixels extra
z= went all the way up to +500, still visible, but tiny
-------------------
center of charater at y appears where in the 400x400 pixels
y= -42  off the down side of the viewer, not visible
y= -30    0 down side of viewer half of charter visible
y= -25   25 down side of viewer
y= -20   50 down side of viewer
y= -10  125 down side of viewer
y=0     200 center of viewer
y=10    278 up side of viewer
y=20    350 up side of viewer
y=25    385 up side of viewer
y=30    400 up side of viewer half of charter visible
y=35    1 8th of character visible
y=40    very edge of  characters hair visible
y=41    still a little hair visible
y=42    off the up side of the viewer, not visible
-------------------
center of charater at x appears where in the 400x400 pixels
x= -42   off the left side of the viewer, not visible
x= -30   0 left side of viewer half of charter visible
x= -25   25 left side of viewer
x= -20   50 left side of viewer
x= -10   125 left side of viewer
x=   0   200 center of viewer
x=  10   278 right side of viewer
x=  20   350 right side of viewer
x=  25   385 right side of viewer
x=  30   400 right side of viewer half of charter visible
x=  35   1 8th of character visible
x=  40   very edge of  characters hair visible
x=  41   still a little hair visible
x=  42   off the right side of the viewer, not visible

Thanks for the reply, Art!

I do have the MIC button off.  If I hesitate for more than a second or two, it takes whatever I've already typed as input.  I'm currently getting around this by hitting space & backspace over and over until I'm ready to finish the sentence.  I took a quick look through the brain script looking for something like a timing or patience setting, haven't found it yet.  If I find the answer to this, I'll post it here.

Correction... because the numbers on the original went into the x.xxxxx, I wrongly assumed that I needed to make slight adjustments... when you crank up the numbers, she moves!  Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the reply.

Is there now or any plans for a spell checker for Ultra Hal?  I don't what the brain filling up with misspelled words and getting the wrong ideas about the input.  Maybe something like the spell checker in this message editor I'm using right now on the Zabaware Forums, where it underlines the word if it is misspelled and let's you click on it for correcting the word.  I'm so concerned about the brain getting the right info that I'm not even using my speech recognition, and mine works pretty good.

BTW, FYI, this message editor underlines the word Zabaware as a misspelled word... is there an ADD function?  Can't have your own forum not knowing the spelling of the software company... that's just not right! ha ha ha  [:D]

Is there a way to adjust Ultra HAL to allow more PAUSE time before it assumes your input is done?  All the way up to not assuming you are done until you hit the ENTER key?

Working With HAP Files; Movement

COMMENTS:
To give Audrey's,(my AI), virtual world more dimension and realism,
and a visual display of a brain wrapper with awareness of time and space,
I've decided to use (conversation, command, event) triggered HAP files to setup
(rooms, places), (position, size) of Audrey, (add, remove accessories), and more.

--------------------

QUESTION-1:
In positioning Audrey LINE1 below works but LINE2 does not, can anyone
correct LINE2 to a working command?

LINE1 - adjust Audrey's pan\zoom axes, left\right, updown, closefar
\translate [figure= standard x= -1.000010 y= -1.000000 z= 11.100016]

LINE2 - adjust Audrey's tilt\rotation axes
\rotatequat [figure= standard x= -1.42 y= 0.005916 z= 0.000373 w= 1.311885]

--------------------

QUESTION-2:
Does anyone know the range limits on each of the x, y, z, w above?

Thanks for the additional info Nige and Prospector!  I followed the instructions Nige gave me on left dragging the HAP file on to the character... it works great!  That definitely makes it easier to test out HAPS.
