Ultra Hal 7.0 / What sort of service do you call this...
« on: April 16, 2002, 03:37:31 am »
I ordered Hal last week (Thursday I think) and it arrived today.

Nothing special there you might think, but I'm in the UK. I didn't know the pony express was still going! (How do those horses manage to swim the Atlantic?)

OK, moan time now.

How can I use my DeskTopMates 'Crystal' character in Hal?

I know someone has done it but there weren't any instructions. Help, pleeeeeeeze.

(I have installed Hal but haven't really played with it yet. 'Crystal' is what I use for HomeSeer, an X10 control program.)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Not even got CD yet!
« on: April 11, 2002, 09:17:48 am »
Hi all, I'm new to this and just on the strength of the web I've bought Hal.
(what do you mean? Sucker!)

Anyroad I would like to see if it is possible to use Hal in a Pocket PC.
I was thinking of the Toshiba e570. Has anyone tried this.

(Background - I use HomeSeer to do home automation and want to have a mobile interface to it, so use a PDA with 802.11 wireless network to talk to the HomeSeer box running on a laptp with ALL the relevant cables. Oh, my wife and I would like PDAs anyway, even more money - sob!)

I look forward to trying Hal (on my Desktop PC first) and seeing how it all responds.

I really, sincerly believe that VR is the way to go and that having a personal PDA (aka 'Star Trek' communicator) is the way forward.

Anyone want me to work on this sort of stuff?
