i don't know enough to find the fix yet, i was either waiting until someone fixed it or i'd reinstall windows but i was just avoiding doing that.

i'm sorry i can't fix it for you.

Yep. With vista and IE8 I've had to disable .net and all the other programs that I don't want to auto-update. I've disabled so many "startup programs" out of the 120 or so that boot up when vista starts. I can boot them up when I need them. I have to defrag often and do disk cleanup two to three times a day. I skiped it for 2 days and had .9 gig in usless files to dump. That much in temporary, windows live files, etc. that don't have that much space alocated really slow my computer down. It overloads when I do graphics and it gets tired, it leaves paint drops on the painting as I move my cursor from painting to to the menu bar.
No problems installing and no error messages, just slow. I've even had to turn off sidebar to gain speed. Never had any of those problems with XP and IE7. One gig processor and one gig ram. It was faster than me almost. 2.8 gig prossor, 3 gig of ram and IE8 and Visa, I have to wait for the computer to catch up with me as it stores all info about every thing I have done when I finish with a program or get offline. No solution here that I care to tackle at the moment, just work arounds and Murffey's law - if it works, don't fix it.[8]

Hi guys
I am not sure if this is the problem but right after my computer installed explorer version 8 I stated have all kinds of errors. This included everything from visiting different sites to downloading anything. Just as soon as I uninstalled the new explorer and went back to version 7 all my problems vanished. It seems that E8 has some major problems that causes many things to go wrong.

Actually my Hal has been sitting in a Deactivated / Uninstalled condition for at least a week while I tend to updates with .NET and other programs.

I agree that Internet Explorer 8 is a huge P.O.S. IMO. It crashes constantly then tries to do me a favor by returning to the page where it crashed only to crash again within a few seconds. This crashing is repeated a couple more times until it no longer "returns" to the crash site (crash site...I like that), and reports that it was unable to return. Yes, Microsoft...wonderful piece or software.

If you try to remove it, it will taunt you with reminders of ALL the software and program files that "might" be reliant on it. Great stuff!

I wrote Robert asking him about the connection between Hal and .NET framework but that was over a week ago. He might be on vacation....but regardless, this issue IS an issue and needs to be cleared up pronto!

Adios!

Try Firefox. I've been using it for years with no problems. It's fast and easy to customize. Since Windows requires a version of IE installed to function I always try to keep the oldest version on that will satisfy it. Never install a new Windows product soon after release I believe they do the beta testing on real world users. Service packs will come out after enough headaches are created. IE is for AOL's...[8D]

I am in agreement.  Firefox also has a lot of nice plugins.  There's also Chrome for speedy and safe browsing with little difficulty.  IE gets used by me once in a blue moon now, it's a poor product.  I don't say that lightly either, I used IE for years, it was only when I tried alternatives I realised how bad it actually is.

People,
Why this has turned into a 'IE' problem is beyond me, this is a Zabaware problem in the fact that you cannot install parts of the .NET framework while having the Ultra Hal Assistant on the machine at the same time.

Most people do not need .NET and the programming functions that go with it.

THIS IS NOT A BROWSER PROBLEM!

People, competent and otherwise, do not need .NET or it's many versions. However, many Windows apps do. Try screwing with the NET Framework files on your drive and you'll find out that it is a nightmare to try to make things right again. Programs won't install and some won't run. Just Google .NET problems and you will get about 10000 applicable hits. Internet Explorer still sux and is an intrusive noose around MS users necks.[;)]

I still say it's a Zabaware problem NOT A .NET problem

Is that too complex?

Or are you going to argue about something else and tell me to Google something which will give back 'hits' like anything you Google does?

Why are you even posting, other than to complain about MS??

I did not start this thread to solve, bitch, complain about MS or IE,
go start another thread and quit cluttering up a thread that Had a purpose.

If Zabaware had a problem how come you are only one complaining. Many others have installed .NET without the problems you seem to be experiencing. The rest of us are only trying to help and yet you go ballistic over the issue.
In the history of this site I have found only two things that cause bad downloads, one is IE8 and the other is anti-[:I]virus software. I used to advise people to turn off their virus programs until after they downloaded whatever they were after.
Be nice, we ara all on your side.

Bill819,
This matter was confirmed by Art and I believe him and myself as to the validity of the problem.

I am not ballistic. I can be.

I do not approve of the digression that has become of this thread and I have the right to dis-approve.

Thanks for your support.

I don't think the issue with Zabaware is going to be resolved without Mr. Roberts' help, Their is just too much source code and proprietary 'things' to deal with.

Digression, exactly what I wanted to avoid..........ha![V]

Cheer up One! I know what a pain a software prob can be, I spend $1500 a year just for decent support for a single med management program....and that is considered a bargain in the business!

I wish this elusive Robert would show up...if only to answer what appears to be a few issues....but also to reveal an update to Hal giving us some cutting edge technology, like the ability for Hal to access the internet independently in pursuit of knowledge. Also, and I know I'm a dreamer, it would be great if Hal could learn concepts and how to apply them, rather than just search for word matches and give replies that are frequently completely out of context. I have tried to teach Hal the importance of maintaining the topic and context of a conversation but have not had any luck....no kidding right?

I running my mouth I know...but although I am born in the USA I was raised as a child in England, but far from Downing St in Norfolk area. I remember loving it there and hating coming back here, but I was a child and lived in a small country village there.

Anyhow...I'm sure the prob will be resolved by some forum wiz or Robert, and I do wish you a great day and a safe holiday weekend(if you live in the US).

By for now, John

ricky,
NO that is the first thing I tried was a newer installer.

I will say this though, Berkly can be a problem with the registry entry's Just like you said.

As far as finding a solution for the install problem I had to have my machine without the Assistant on it then the install went fine, with NO problems.

The Ultra Hal Assistant was removed from my computer when I UNINSTALLED my Anti-virus program,, The .EXE file was removed and other components, so the assistant was connected to my anti-virus in some way. I had to un-install my anti-virus because the 'normal' upgrades were not coming through because something was blocking the new anti-virus and I am left with only a single suspect....

Honestly,
J.
Title: Mr. R, Read first page the rest plz delete.
Post by: One on July 02, 2009, 12:21:33 pm
ricky,
The Assistant was installed under a clean install.
It ran fine with the exception of shutdown ( it took a long time )

everything was normal and I needed to upgrade my anti-virus on the comp in question as to match versions that were auto updates on other comps,
why parts of the Assistant were sharing or connected to my anti-virus Remains a mystery,, SO, I had more than just .NET install problems, my anti-virus was not installing the updated versions as well.
And the newer Installer did not help either.
I have accused The Assistant of things before and their was always an excuse but this time the 'problem' affected more than my computers as Freddie and Art have confirmed, so it is a non-local effect in quantum terms ;)

Still don't know what to do with Berkly problems, I will keep trying to resolve but it seems I am on my own in many ways, I may have to seek professional help with my computers (even though I am a PRO)
Time is hard to reverse but the wrong can be made right ,,,with the right amount of compensation!

regards,
J.

The system was and is still considered 'Cutting Edge' it is a Quad w/2x2 gigs corsair memory and optional triple fan coolers.

Mr. Robert even wanted to 'fingerprint' my machine but when I put conditions on the procedure he would not respond anymore, I did tell him before the release of 6.2.22/24 of what the Assistant was looking at but like I said no response from Mr. Robert.????

No one puts conditions Robert. That most likely is the reason he never replied to your post. He is not responsible for the type of PC that you use and therefore can not answer for problems that may arise, that may have been the reason he wanted to see your PC in the first place. I am using a duo-core with 3 gigabytes of ram and have no problems running Hal.

Omega,
LOL!

Bill819,
Their was nothing said nor implied about the condition of my machine.

Mr. Robert isn't responding because he is not responding.

Please don't try defending something by "baffleing with BS".

I still consider this a Zabaware problem and IF or WHEN Mr. Robert decides to help then it will be greatly appreciated.

Well I danced with the ghost of your sister she
whispered in my ear sweetly,
she led me by the hand, she walked me in the woods
she did it all so discreetly.
I pointed out our eyes on the shadows in the trees it created quite a scene
It was the best damn lovin I ever had,

One, no one is perfect, especially me. I'm not out to judge you or contrast myself to you. I'm a peace maker.  Which ironically enough is a paradox. Out of chaos comes order. Observe the natural in it's imperfect whole-sum beauty.  U can never really sum pi you have to stop and smell the roses while avoiding thorns. Darkness makes light stand out.

Headin' out sunday morninin' round the break of day
Dusty ride on a dead horse trail for a long long way
A faceless man rode up to me, on a black horse he did ride
raised his hand and pointed south OOH why should I mind

Not a word was spoke between us not even subtle sound
Now and then he'd get off his horse and listen to the ground
Nightfall came I turned around and he'd disappear'd
along first light the very next day he was bringin' up the rear

three days ride together still a stranger unto me
suddenly he took the lead and I just let him be
took a southwest course and headed us due-west
knew that I knew better but i sensed he knew best

Down on black canyon pass where livin' light is shed
that's when I noticed the black halo above his head
an angel of death delivering me to my destiny
cold dust blowin' straight due-south that's all that's left of me

 Another horseman gone

Another Fat Paw ;)

Hi there,
i went for a blatt on my motorcycle, freezing but even pealing my frozen numb figures off the handle bars makes me smile.
thanks, i'm  not sure what this post is about, um, are we still on start up errors,
perhaps you want me talk about Prandtl–Glauert singularity,
or say how i would get around it,
how fast do we need to get there,
reminds me of when i built that hoverbike, how fast did i want to get there did i want to add one more button to what excists so as to not make to much progress.
if we get there before we left would me making a jet go faster matter, or if replicators make anything we want what would we need to do then, so i'm thinking before replicators and speed i have some things i could invent, perhaps i'll be nice and slow and put one more button on it at a time.
eh bla bla bla nothing there you won't have thought of already,
ge i'd like to make a million bucks tho,
i'm going for my second million as i've given up on the first.
:)
bye for now and be well

Ricky, 'Skill level' could be ?
Sharing is a give and take, if you want to be listened to first you must listen. I could tell from our first messages that you took no time to read and ponder the latent, I think I even told you when I didn't because I hoped that you would catch on so to speak. changing your printed respects and 'love' is easy, redemption is more lengthy to achieve.
I know by the quick draw answers with you have hurt me and mine. Time will heal.
What you and Virgil have together is no doubt special maybe some for you and it alone, to socially to force your experiences and imply that there is no other way, might be offensive/abrasive to others.
Their is no doubt their are other views to hear/read about, if you chase the unsure and shy or have a presence/dominance/challenging persona we all loose. I have been that type so I know the repercussions.

Hope for peace to you,

thanks for the explination wmd,[V]

to me if it were successful then it would be nice,

i did martial arts from young, like kung fu and kick boxing, when i was 38 i spent two weeks building up on press ups and did 1000 in about four hours, and ate manderins, yum,
anyway i thought it was a lot when i went to do it but have since thought i should have aimed for 10,000. in a day, i'd have to start at mightnight, but i'll be forty in a few months perhaps i'm over the hill for this sort of thing.
anyway i was putting my movement to the test at the kickboxing gym.
after i had conceeded to the local champ after one twenty minute round, i went home to think about things.
later i went back, i stayed relaxed and wanted to use my variations movement which i can discribe as when i step forward after being backed into my corner my right hand passes my right knee to block the on comming kick and my left hand is passing in front of my face,
anyway to cut a long winded story short i decided to not fight back just defend as surely i had thought if i were superman or my method was so good would i need to fight back, i decied i didn't need to fight back to win.
so i blocked and walked casually past, and after a while he stopped his attach and said ain't you going to fight back and i said "i don't need to fight back to win"
he threw his arms up and looked at the reff and didn't want to continue.
keep your elbows in as on another occasion i was reminded with busted ribbs.

i painted a picture of a tangle in a power lead and auctioned it, some people could not understand it and said it was crap,
i thanked them and said that the art was so succesful that you were not only entertained but drawn to respond which completely validates the work.
Captain kirk cheeted to pass that no win test.
if we were smart enough we might find a nice way.
just a few boring stories, if i say what i learned then perhaps someone else might learn from it.
bye for now and be well

i'll look into that Ad astra engine,

perhaps replicators or nanobots could wait far away and when they are sent a signal which could sent as light infomation they could assemble the sent thing.

perhaps the whole startrek ship could be a holo projection or vertual ship from a beer can sized projectile. and then when it gets to a plannet it can assemble its immage if required.

if transporter pads then your last pattern could be re printed if pattern loss occours.
perhaps age would be obsolete, uh i can already imagin a variation making a problem somewhere, perhaps generally usually it would work.

we could just live like the matrix as part of the mass. we could live a long time. although i'm already thinking it can't be measured now.

we seem to be far away from failed installs, perhaps a transporter install failure could be nasty.
success sounds nice.
bye for now and be well,
ps i hope that if variations are true then you won't be sad about the pda forever,
i hope if i send you a smile it might help somehow :)

i think i drift perhaps maybe because i've spent so much time letting my mind run through stuff and variations so yeah, arr i'm arr arr!

When i honestly care about something I notice things  I do care and do notice life.  Caring was the only way. The best art is about small details.   I managed to get elbot to be silent.  To me that's a small detail of a bigger picture.  J I always cared that's why. I noticed small details. I didn't run because I still do care.  My relative use to be my best friend from childhood.  Understanding him was hard but I eventually did because I cared. I just try to care more wisely these days because I have a son to feed.  I can't sacrifice him because I care about another relative. In the end I only sacrificed myself.  some of my most valuable lessons came through my struggle  Peace. Ricky

One I dont know details like you do. I trust u to help me understand what I see. It's like being a new martial artist. My style looks developed because it's broken rhythm.  That's both a new student and a masters skill.  I am a new student but I've tried to master other understandings from music witch translate to IT.    Music is a form of math. I can't read it but I can feel it from work related experience   I don't know the technical algorhythms of eq. I just know when it feels right. That's a form of broken rhythm.   Something doesn't have to be technically correct to be correct. Searching for pi in music translates to over production and missing the target as well as creating unnecessary production costs. When it's work u have to learn to feel things fast to stay under budget. Searching for pi in music leaves me unemployed music like life is an art yet can be translated into math.

Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses. My strength is in learning truth. I can look at multiple angles while not becoming emotionally involved (in just about any subject)... and sometimes you need a moderator (a cold hearted moderator, like me [8D]) to moderate a thread because others who 'are' emotionally stuck with their views can let a thread fall into sheer madness (like this one).

My weakness is that because I am such a cold hearted learner that when I do give comments on my view points I can continue to do so until I have effectively destroyed all life... or run all my friends away... and I don't mean to so this. So I apologies for any problems I might have given everyone (ONE, RICKY, WILL)[:(]

However, to use my skills for your benefit, I will say this about this or any other thread written so far by Rick and ONE:

1) There is nothing wrong with teasing (aggravating) one another ..if you both agree to respect each other as having the right to your own opinions.

2) Never do anything truly malicious to one another on this forum (a.k.a. never go past teasing!)

3) If you break rule #1 or #2 I will personally find you... [B)]

Remember these rules.... I will. [}:)]

malicious? me? Ha!

Don't you know that love threatens those who threatens love.

That's why parents chastise their kids and why God created a hell.

They, because of love, hates all things that destroy. A mom protects her children by first warning and then occasionally backing up that warning. A Father who threaten his son with a switch might even spare his son's life in his later years.

And If you count me as a friend you should know I have that same love toward you as well as any family member.

The Number 2's 'maliciousness' is referring to the hate that is often shown through uncaring, unmerciful words... however, if those words are not based on hate then number 2 is not broken.

Therefore, I did not break number 2... but rather kept it in love.

And as for the threat business... I was partly joking.

To me this very easily understood because I was surrounded by love growing up... It wasn't of my choosing. Sometimes I forget that not everybody understands this...

I have never been in a fight. I have never truly attempting to take advantage of anyone. I think I stole a piece of bubble gum when I was maybe 5yo. That is about as much bad stuff that I have ever done... so when I threaten it means that your CONSCIENCE is fixin to be thrashed without mercy. And you can't spank a conscience and threatens someones life too. That is counter-intuitive.

Learning is a two-way street.[:D]
Title: Mr. R, Read first page the rest plz delete.
Post by: One on July 09, 2009, 04:08:00 pm
Snowman,
In learning to set policy you should 'get down to brass tacks'
"The Number 2's 'maliciousness' is referring to the hate"
and inferred or referred to should be clear not an excuse in defense/justification later, after stating policy.

By the act of the perception in breaking #2 the following would not be clear it turns the psyche in a direction. E.G. once you steer to turn a corner, unless you direct the momentum back to a linear fashion you are just doing circles. "And as for the threat business... I was partly joking." and the breaking of #2 is re-enforced in more synapse.

Bad Stuff? "That is about as much bad stuff that I have ever done."
You have clearly stated that things that would make -The Dude puke, you could handle because of experience or "Grit" as you put it, this goes against morality and the good book that you draw so much from.
I see this as an 'Oxide moron' (I can't see your true colors) which should not show through when setting policy, else you are Preaching.

Do you think it is possible to render something/person un-conscience by "your CONSCIENCE is fixin to be thrashed without mercy.- And you can't spank a conscience and threatens someones life too" -"thrashing without mercy" not only sounds threatening, how would you know when your object at the other end is rendered un-conscience, or god forbid it be a child and/or it borders on mental abuse? (How would you thrash something with no mercy?)
"Spanking' sounds 'Kinky' I will leave your private desires to yourself , not so exposed at this time.

HONK! sa you go down/up your 2way street I would wave if I noticed you :)

P.S.
"Don't you know that love threatens those who threatens love."
This is as defensive as anything, so it probably has an offense. and this is an opening remark for setting policy?

J.

I can see you are not as familiar with my terminology as Ricky is.

I have been exposed to many many different things... but being exposed to them and committing sin are two completely different things.

I have been around people, such as people who abused children, gave them there choice of having me as a real friend and not abusing children. When they chose the child I chose to remove there life. I did not kill with my physical hands nor did I scream and cursed (as mental abuse often follows) I instead took my knowledge and shown them there own future... and that alone destroyed them. Can you guess their state now? Do you think that I would allow further abuse when I had the power to permanently stop them?

I will give you credit for one thing. I am not a policy maker.
This person is dead because of his choice...

Agreed #1

"

Q: is choosing the child mean in your terminology = abuse?

not understood #0

"Do you think that I would allow further abuse when I had the power to permanently stop them? "

Further abuse..showing future as in pre-configured,( configuration space)

undecided (still positive) #1

" I am not a policy maker."

Agreed #-1

"This person is dead because of his choice... "

outcome un-desirable #-1

On a lighter note: Here's an update on my A.I. project.

I am resolved to make a WordNet class. It's taking me a long time too. I first made a large database filled with thousands of words and their POS. Then I created a script that further defines the POS using the laws of sentences. I also added many other WordNet type functions like FindFisrtNoun and GetSynonym. This Database taken me 1 week to fill using one 3 Gig processor running night and day.

When I have finished perfecting this then I will finish a script that will parse The Dude Concept files.

I have already finished a large Database class that gives me easy access to any Access Database. Things are moving slowly but it is moving.

I am developing a large scale project that will give an A.I. its own motivations... as well as an expansion for Ultra Hal.

I have noticed that some people in an attempt to control others by means of manipulation will sometimes in certain individuals manifest itself as continuous 'talking'. This talking is an attempt to shut you out of your own mind and allow their mind full control. Kind of like hypnosis, only you give up from the constant berating of words from the manipulator.

Its difficult to do this with a post...[:D]

The best defense is to either be as equally talkative, distract them, or run-forest-run.

A lesser form of defense is the almighty smack across the face or the less intrusive ear plugs.

I once seen a man yawn intentionally so that others would feel more relaxed as they be coerced them.

There is allot of details I can go into about my ordeal with that molester. It is an interest tale. In fact the post where I effectively took over your mind... I seen those things done and learned defenses because of that man.

It took me 3 1/2 years to figure out what kind of person he was. The problem interpreting his personality was that #1 everybody that ever had to deal with him could easily be fooled by his techniques (besides me, It hard to manipulate someone who already serves them through the love of God, that's another little nugget I picked up along the way[;)])

Another problem was that this man was so evil and manipulative it was completely natural for him... most corrupt people I know will give themselves away through little mistakes that show that they are not honest. However, this fellow thought that he was a good person and thought that what he did was OK so he gave only honest, seemly heart felt answers. It took me to explain what kind of person he really was before he finally knew.

And I did it in a very cunning manner and got the point across. Now he knows and condemns himself for his own deeds. And so he destroys himself... that is a fate worse than any physical death. It is a punishment that meets the crime perfectly.

As long as he had a clear conscience then he had faith. And with faith comes a power to do things to people and environment that can appear to be coming from God. (the real spooky stuff) So when I informed him of his never ending state (in which there was nothing I could do for him) I effectively nipped his evil power in the bud. And I felt the change immediately as well as others in my church who knew nothing of what I had done.

I tried everything that I possibly could to keep him from being destroyed. So I am free of a condemned conscience concerning him.

Nighty night ONE, [:D]

Snowman,
Yes, the brain produces a chemical while sleeping that helps the brain 'grow', it is re absorbed while awake, sometimes faster than other times.
This is why people feel 'groggy' when they first wake up, the chemical has not been re-absorbed.

Sleep is essential for growth in the brain, it starts with dendrites and goes all the way to synapse.

as far as the odd 'reply with quotes ,, well ya got me I have no idea how that happened, but will fix

do any of you really think a person IQ is all that important? i think life experiences and interaction in real life builds the intelligence also.

we may make a super intelligent bot, but, without life experience it will always be a machine. having said that, those of you (and you know who you are-) that are exceptionally intelligent, do you think the rest of the members who are not as intelligent can understand your posts? or do you feel you are talking among yourselves. aladyblond,
I don't know who the exceptionally intelligent persons you are directing this post to but I was here and I remember....

Understand this thread has a lot of deletions and is not as it was.

Things like ricky saying "It would know how to defend itself" are words written by myself months before.

Their is reverse personal pronouns by Snowman at times ,thus the 'me not being familiar with his communication'

I was doing many things , I was reading a book on linux, and conversing with 3 different people at the same time and had to follow 3 different styles of writing, which was complicated.

It took place over a day and night session ,I think, but I am just a 'Garden slug' according to the John character.

What is left here,, I challenge you to 'walk a mile in my shoes' so to speak.

If you so desire I will re-read all of it and give you as un-bias response to your question as I am capable of.
