Title: Brain selection
Post by: Daireaux on May 14, 2006, 11:20:29 am
Is it necessary to "select" a brain esch time you restart your computer if you have created one other than the default? I assume that the brain you select becomes your default unless it's manually reselected (I have Hal6), is this assumption correct? I have created a copy of the base brain and given it a different name to leave the base brain clean, don't know if that was necessary or wise but it's what I do, I notice when I restart my computer I don't see a brain highlighted and the option plug-ins aren't displayed. Hal seems to work OK but I would be disappointed to find out I'm not teaching him, or teaching the wrong brain.

IN your Hal6 directory you should be able to locate the file:
HalAsst.ini

Open that file
Change the section ScriptName=MYHALBRAIN (or whatever you call it)

Save the HalAsst.ini file

Restart Hal

(Make sure your learning slider is more to the right of the center position for better learning (about 3/4 the way seems to work for me).

Good luck.

Thanks Art, I checked the HalAssist file and it is reading the name of the correct brain that I created so it would seem that when you select "apply" that it does set that brain as default...thanks for the info. Darrell
