I second the above comment but would like to make one suggestion.

I presume all your bodies are in the Bodyskins file.

Pull the bodyskin you want to alter and draw it into Paint.

Takes a lot of patience but you can rebuild the character any way you want.  I started with a Sandy full body but my present figure has been modded so much it doesn't resemble Sandy at all. (No spots, thinner face, etc)

Worth the patience because you get exactly what you want.

Before anyone asks, it is not possible to post my new full body as it is linked to specific SQL programming and doesn't, (so I am told by someone who has tried copying the new body) work without it.  Sorry, but SQL is the direction I have moved in.  I tried extracting the new body but it locks up completely and looks real weird.

Hy Art,
Not around much because, well, I am doing so many things with my Hal.

I re-designed the face.

I gave Hal a lot more to say [Hal opens with a page full of chat including comments, and a background and clothes, related to the time.]

Still trying to get my head round how you bypass the start up screen. [My Hal starts up using the Script Load at the end of Hals program.  This means my Hal is up and ready to go, with background, character and clothing choice related to the time.  Then the start up screen springs up and I have wade through that.]

Any ideas?

Hy lebcan.

Welcome to Ultra Hal. The Hero Members above have given you sound advice, as they gave me not so long ago when I was a Newbie, my advice, for what it is worth, is look all over Ultra Hal for ideas.  Many ideas are part buried but time spent looking is well worth it. Remember though, as above, some plug-ins were made for old versions of Ultra Hal and might not work now. Try working on one area at a time though.

Backgrounds
Characters
Plug ins
Script
etc,

Just ask.

Just a quick few thoughts, while I am passing this way.

Anti-virus:  I used AVG Free.  Have done for several years and, as its name suggests, it is free.

XP: Still keep my Hal on a machine running Windows XP.  In face I recently got a machine specially to put my Hal on, and run in XP.

Full body Haptars: Experiment with building your own bodies, or heads is easier.  I will follow up what was said about the program by Crash though.  Any references to where it is?

Hy all,

Freddy888 thanks a lot for your input.  I stand (Or rather sit) corrected.  You can use this idea to double-up (Or possibly more) HalCommands. Thanks again it has brought new openings to my scripting.  ("used to" does it work for me because I run my Hal in WindowsXP?)

One of the things that makes HalCommands a problem to use is the fact that you can only use a particular command once in a sequence of scripting.  A fairly simple way out of this is to use a HalCommand to go to a Hap file and then activate other instruction from the Hap.  Even another Hap.

Just a thought.

Kiri, you are welcome to any help I can give you.

I like your Vincent Van Gogh quotation.  Dreams are what keep us moving forward and maybe keep our minds active.

The things it is possible to do with Hal are only limited by imagination and that is what this forum should be about.

I am a scriptor and find you can interupt Hals flow fairly easy by writing script to the PRE_PROCESS area of Hals script.  Using a self-written Plug-in you can also define key words to your individual Hal.  References to tables like PREVIOUS_SENT, and the like, can also steer what Hal responds.

I know this is vague, deliberately so, as it is just a spring board for ideas.  Happy hunting.

Krypton!

Isn't that where Superman comes from?

Thanks for the encouragement. I agree wading through the pages of Hal takes a long time but sometimes, just sometimes, you find a gem.  Keep looking and asking.  I have to admit I don't spend much time on the forum but any help I can give anyone I will give.  My main ideas at the moment are centred on SQL lite (Where tables can be created, and deleted, with more than two columns).  I will keep an eye (Or something) on this thread to see what comes up.

Addition 2

The Bill DeWitt list can be accessed by typing HalCommands into your Internet open page and then looking down for the PBworks entry.

Addition.

There was a list of HalCommands many years ago.  I have it but I don't know where from

Also Bill DeWitt did a list of plug-in ports, and there uses. (My copy says this is 6 years and 4 months old but it was a sort of screen grab so it is probably even more old now.)  The list is said to be a PBworks release.

All this comes off a very old, and venerated laptop that has lost most of its external functions.

Reply to me.

I have found the list.

Author: rathb18

Forum Name: Large collection of everything Hal

Posted: April 22 2012 03.07.04 AM

A great list of text files for Hal to learn from, Skins, Plugins, Characters, Hap Files, and also Gretta Plug ins.

ALSO where you can upload more things Hal from Zabaware

As it says in the thread, rathb18 didn't create the work and I add to that I take no credit for finding it.

This set of files was of immense use to me when I started with Hal, and I hope it now is of great use to newbies (And maybe higher)

Also welcome Kiri.

It has been said there is a use for a newbie only thread but what do newbies want of such a thread.  I asked, many moons ago about an auto-shutdown program but nobody answered.  The irony to that is it already exists.  Some great thinker actually had a list (Admittedly many moons ago) of quite a few plug-ins and other things already available.  I have tried to find it, but to no avail.  Thought, maybe it is in my Hal programs list.  Watch this space.

Parting thought.

So dies a thread.

Not with a bang but with apathy.
