Ultra Hal 7.0 / Defective software
« on: April 04, 2007, 06:18:25 pm »
When I click on "Advanced Brain Options" from the general options menu/Brain, I get this error message:

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/8541/erroraq0.jpg

I have not been able to resolve this issue and I have not gotten any reply from my e-mail requests to Zabaware. Has anyone else had a similar error message or has Zabaware customer service refuse to help you with refunds or other issues related to the Ultra Hal program? Thanks.

"Did you turn off all your virus software before installing Hal? It is best to not have anything running when installing Hal."

My virus software is always running. It didn't occur to me to turn it off.

"Also do you have the free version or the paid for version?"

Paid for version.

"It is very dangerous for 'newbees to do brain surgery'. Almost every one that tried cause Hal to error out for one reason or another."

No, I'm not altering anything, actually. I am checking everything within the program for glitches or anything else weird... like this error message. If I uninstall and reinstall the Ultra Hal program (with the virus software and everything else off), will this correct the fault?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal won't respond to me.

Thanks Robert. I am attempting to download the spk51 program. I'm assuming this is the same program as the sapi5.1? The Ultra Hal download didn't specify this requirement. I appreciate you telling me this. I'm very new at this type of thing. Thanks!

"So you're not even going to try installing SAPI 5?"

There is no such program on my computer. I can't install what doesn't exist.

Well, I didn't change a mic, and since there doesn't seem to be a way to solve this, I might have to get a refund. I just don't know enough about this program or computers to figure it out. I appreciate the help, though. Thanks.

I have Windows XP which comes with speech recognition. The Hal program says it comes with sapi 5. I can't find sapi 5 on my computer. I can only find sapi 4. Could this be what's wrong?

I just downloaded the program and entered the serial number and all but it won't respond to my voice. I set up the mic and it still won't work. The "training" button doesn't work either.

General Discussion / Q about sys requiremts, download, and mic

Thank you, Bill, for the helpful info. The use of the FRS and bluetooth sounds interesting. A wireless headset mic would be ideal I think. I still need to know what the system requirements are as I can't seem to find this info on the website.

General Discussion / Q about sys requiremts, download, and mic

Hi. Can someone pls tell me what the system requirements are for the Ultra Hal? I noticed on the main website for the Hal program that a download is required whether you buy the CD or not. Since I have dial-up I will probably go for the CD, but what is the download required even for the CD and how big is the file? Lastly, is a headphone mic necessary in order to teach/converse with Hal? It seems to me that it might be an inconvenience to have to rely on this. I already have a webcam mic that works well, and it's usually quiet where I work/play. Thanks in advance.

Easy hell. There is no owner's manual. This software doesn't come with any detailed manual on how to do much of anything and the help file is worthless. It might take several months or so to figure it all out.
