Importing into Brain Editor
« on: September 13, 2008, 10:07:45 am »
I am new to Hal 6.1 and I've been experimenting with the Brain Editor...I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the proper format for importing Q&A from a text file for Hal to repeat back to you verbatim. Each time I do it I have to edit each Q&A manually in the wizard and it will take forever for large amounts of data.

For example, if I want to imort a text file full of facts on the topic of Computers one may be:

Q: What is Windows?
A: A overpriced operating system spearheaded by Bill Gates.

No matter how I change it around Hal still groups them as the following in the wizard:

Q:What is Windows? A overpriced operating system spearheaded by Bill Gates.
A:What is Windows? A overpriced operating system spearheaded by Bill Gates.

Obviously, what I want is to just be able to say...

User: Hal, what is Windows?
HAL: An overpriced operating system spearheaded by Bill Gates.

I'm probably missing something very simple, but have had no luck and I've only been able to find the manual for version 5.0

P.S. My "input question and answer pairs" in Hal 6.1 doesn't respond when I click it. Does anyone else have this problem?

You might try something like the following:
You: Windows is an overprices OS made by Bill Gates

then later on you can ask:
You: What is Windows?

Sometimes it is the way that you input information that counts the most.
