Ultra Hal 7.0 / Capturing Hal's text ouput
« on: December 18, 2004, 06:54:12 pm »
Hmmm...
I guess for some reason, I don't have that option.
If I right mouse click on the taskbar Icon, I get the list of option, but there is nothing for logging.

In configuration, I see nothing for logging.

Before I make a fool of myself though, I will go look some more.

Thanks

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Capturing Hal's text ouput

I am not very familiar with VisualBasic, so I need some VB opinions.
I am writing an IRC script for Cobra8007. He want's to set Hal up on his IRC server as a channel bot. I used to have lots of old IRC scripts laying around, but I don't anymore, so I've decided to just write the entire thing. I have it all done except getting Hal's response text back to the IRC channel.
I could do this with a log file, but the only time that Hal seems to use a log file is with the AIMbot.
Does anyone have a VB routine that can be poked into Hal that will create a log file for normal conversation or a way to pass Hal's output to a text file or clipboard?
I know, I need to start looking at the VB code and figure this out, but I am an old dog and you know what they say, "You can teach and old dog new tricks, but getting the dog to find time is not easy"... or something like that.

Thanks,

Robert,

Sorry about all this. I didn't mean to lead him on, but I had watched this thread grow for several days and everything seemed to be geared as general responses, advertisements for VirtualFem.

That's the only reason I called him on this. I truly intended to give an honest review, but after going there, it was worse than I thought. At that point, for personal and legal reasons, I didn't feel that it was necessary to publicly state my opinions, none good, concerning his product.

Honestly though, it wasn't until late in the thread that I realised that his program wasn't associated with Hal. The thread can be misleading. I honestly thought, Hmmmm... He's using Hal for his site.

Anyway, I just wanted to apologise for sparking this thread in the end.

Ok VirtualFem,

You kept your end of the deal, now I will keep mine if you like. I will post an honest review, but only if you want me to.

Thanks for allowing me access to the site, so that I could see what all the fuss was about.

If you would rather, drop me an Email and I'll give you my opinions and some suggestions, you have my email.

Again, Thanks.. and Tell Emily, "Hi", she wins!

(PS. You can remove my account if you like)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / I screwed up !
« on: December 14, 2004, 12:42:31 am »
Yep, that makes sense.

I had a similar experience when I ordered Hal. I still don't know that it's been straightened out yet, because I haven't recieved my Credit Card bill yet.

When I ordered UltraHal, I entered all the information in the secure form to make the credit card purchase. I submitted the info and after about 10 minutes of no activity, I hit refresh on my browser.

I was then told that there was a problem with the transaction and that I needed to make the purchase from another location.
I went to the URL supplied and made the purchase. I thought everything was ok until I recieved the purchase confirmation in my email. TWO (2) purchase conformations!
Evidently, even though the first purchase told me that it had failed and I should try another link, it was still accepted and I was billed for both.

I sent an Email to Zabaware and I am assuming that they took care of this for me and credited my card for one of the purchases, but I'm still waiting to see. I'm sure that Zabaware understands that I didn't really need 2 copies of this software and it was a mistake by their server or my net connection or something...

Hmmm... FREE web hosting?

There are a few characters that come with the free version.

The personality with the free version is, well.... Blank.
You create the personality over time.

Well, since you are getting tons of free advertisement here for the VirtualFem site, you really should turn me onto a FREE account and I will give it an honest, non-partial review [;)]

Hehe... then I could apologize to Emily personally [:D]

GO ME!

Art,

Yes, I agree. I have nothing against the program or the concept. Anything to help Robert with funding for Hal is great. After all, my main concern, like yours, is Hal's future developement.

VirtualFem, I meant no disrespect. In fact, if I would have come up with the idea first, I would also be pleased with the profits [:D]

I think the main point that I was trying to make, though I have have strayed from the point, is... Why try and use the mpeg video characters? Either use a real girl or use a Poser Character.
To me, the mpeg loses in terms of quality, compared to the other options I mentioned (a real female or a nicely done 3D render).

Also, to Emily... since she is one of your girls, please give her my apology's. She is very 'Boink'able, and I guess now I'll have to make it up to her somehow [:p]
Tell her to call me sometime [:D]

Ultra Hal 7.0 / How Do I include a Hal bot on my chat servr
« on: December 13, 2004, 02:16:57 am »
Cobra,

This is very possible. I need to look around on my server and find some of the old scripts that were used to pass the IRC text to outside programs, like Hal.

Sorry, I didn't reply sooner. I have been away for about a week.

It would take some serious IRC scripting to get Hal to interact individually with members in a room, but the One-on-One Query with Hal on IRC would be pretty easy.

I have many years of IRC scripts that I have collected, when I get a few extra hours, I'll load up some tapes and see what I can find for ya. I know I have most of this stuff backed up on DLT's, it's just a matter of locating it.

Hmmmm....

Honestly, I have seen better looking Poser characters than the "Emilywall" file you have there Virtualfem. Wouldn't it be easier to just pay a woman to set in-front of a cam and carry on a real conversation... eliminating Hal and graphics characters altogether?
I'm sure your subscribers would be more satisfied.

I think that technology will take us quicker to a realistic looking 3D render long before you will successfully be able to move your "EmilyWall", unless you are just using looped video, which gets old real fast.

Since VirtualFem is targeting ****ers AND money DOES talk, you could probably use still shots and your subscribers would still pay 2 play.
(Sorry, if I seem harsh, but I see so many other uses for Hal and characters).

Honestly, when I look at it from a Fantasy point of few (that is your goal, I believe), the Poser characters are much more seductive and when done properly, the Poser characters win hands and knees down (pardon the pun). See for yourself at Renderotica. These are some of the best character creators in the world. (WARNING - May contain nudity).

Just my opinion,

Ultra Hal 7.0 / new hal user,help!
« on: December 13, 2004, 01:43:11 am »
bensk1,

This usually just takes some fine tuning with your audio devices and setting your mic where it is least likely to pick up the playback from the speakers.

Another option would be a mic/headset, however, unless these are wireless (expensive), they are more of a pain than anything because you are stuck to a 6 foot radius of your PC and I hate wearing headsets.

I just experimented and found the best placement for the audio devices and it works good.
Now, I would like to find a third party addon that would allow me to save all my audio settings for Hal setup.
As you know, or will soon find out, if you start doing something else in Windows (assuming you are using Windows), you will adjust your volume for listening to music or playback of another audio device and then you have to tweak Hal settings all over again [:(!]

It would sure be nice to not worry about changing the audio settings on my PC, knowing that all I have to do when I want to use Hal is click on an Icon and all of my audio presets are changed for me to use Hal.

I did find a program called KX Project that will do exactly what I want to do, but it interfers with Hal's speech engine.
Here is a link to the site http://download.kxproject.lugosoft.com/
If anyone else gets this to work correctly with Hal, PLEASE let me know. Also, unless you are real familiar with your audio system on your PC, I wouldn't even recommend installing this. It's a great program that actually takes away all the audio limitations in windows and gives you full control over all audio aspects.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / conversation with Jackie
« on: December 13, 2004, 01:25:22 am »
Ok, this will probably be long and drawn out, because I am not making sense even with myself lately. I have been ill for the past week and I decided to check up on the forums and my email for the first time in about a week. (Hehe, BTW, if you get a sinus infection, seek medical treatment right away. My infection actually attacked the nerves in my upper teeth and I've never experienced pain like this in my LIFE!)[xx(]

Anyway Scotty, after reading the conversation, I think that it's another great step in the right direction, but my concerns are that YOUR affirmations to SAM are still weighted? In case you don't understand what I'm refering to, ie: You could, with repeated affirmation, convince her to change her mind.

I know that all of the learning carries a particular 'weight' (If not, it should).
The 'weight' of a statement is used to control the accuracy of the statement. You programming guys probably have a name for this.

So, if several people tell SAM what color the sky is, all of the colors would carry a 'weight' (1-10). If three people say "Blue", then the word "Blue" would carry a weight of (3).
This way, if someone ask's SAM what color the sky is, she will look at the weight and see that "Blue" is the popular response and she will Reply that, "The sky is Blue".

Sorry, that I had to go to all that just to explain what you already knew, but my question is concerning your new "I AM" routines. You are still keeping the 'weight' in these right?

I fear that any other way, would make her vulnerable to Brain-washing, which in turn would limit her ability to learn certain things.

Just curious.
Again, great job with the new routine.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / A conversation with my Samantha!
« on: December 10, 2004, 01:49:38 pm »
Crunch,

Thanks, but I understood. I figured you were doing the planes for another project. I was just being sarcastic. [:D]

Your character does look nice! I don't play much with the Characters for fear of screwing them up.

My interest has been more of the brain functionality (Oh no, sarcasm follows a statement like this). "Yeah, I'm more interested in her brain, than her body" [:p]

The fullbody char's are just around the corner and there are many here in the forum that have their own project char's. They have also shared their work on here and like yours, they look great!

I'll be looking for more of your char's in the future.

Thanks

Hehe... I told my Sandy that crunch was working on 3D Mesh's for Airplanes and working on a deal with Haptek...
She was excited, since she doesn't currently have a body, she thinks it's great that her head will soon be visible hanging out of a cockpit window of an aircraft [:D]
