This is the finest software you will be able to find and it can act like the Startrek computer with a lot of training. Hal grows and will respond to your knowledge over a period of time so if you act like the ST computer, Hal will eventually act like one. It must be noted though, if you act like an idiot, Hal will respond in kind.

But of course, Mstg007, does not want to act like the ST computer himself, which would be silly. He only wants his computer to act like that. [:p]

i guess i am looking for hal to respond smartly.

What i mean is if it does not know the answer, it can search somewhere to get it.

basically hal would answer lots of questions which would be asked in many different ways.

do you think this brain can handle this?

ex.
how many new emails do i have in my hotmail account?

what is the weather like?

do a search for whatever.

i want to write a letter.

what is this formuala?

what are the steps to do this?

how do i build a deck?

things like this.

thanks!

Once again I'll make the following statement. Hal will respond to any and all questions depending on how you train it. Hal comes as an knowledge shell that learns by interaction with its user. For an example let us say that you are into racng autos, then depending on how much data that you feed into Hal about that subject the smarter it will become. This can include info about tires, engines, race tracks and drivers. Hal learns from you. If you want an expert then you have to feed it the info so it can become one. Eventually Hal will come up with some supprise answers because Hal can draw some of its own conclusions based upon certain facts. Here is a tiny example:
You say A=B. Then you say B=C. Hal at this time might answer you with "then A=C".
Hal appears to be the best learning program that you can buy at this time but everyone wants something different so its knowledge base is left to its uers to fill.

Hi Mstg007.

This is my offer.
If you can find all the transcripts from Star Trek I will write a formatter script that will use the transcripts for a custom brain
I would design for use of the transcripts.

I've been writing formatter scripts that convert text format of one type to another type for use in brains.

Come up with a complete Star Trek episode transcript set and I'll trick it out for you.

I'd like to have an LCARS skin for hal. The "Mary" voice is close enough.

Check this out: http://www.lcarsx32.com.

It is under construction, but it is supposed to have voice control/response soon.

Spydaz said, " I Use LCARS TERMINAL SYSTEM...." Well, get ready to uninstall that... Unlike that and others; LCARS x32 actually looks and feels like LCARS.

Btw, Spydaz, please replicate ur system and beam it to me!

the star trek computer has never struck me as being that intelligent. Can anyone remember the computer ever actually engaging in full conversation? The star trek computer voice seems to be only used for ship wide crew and diagnostic checks. I am a big big fan of star trek. I use Gamertom's enterprise skin - amazing!
