Title: Helping Hal pronounce words
Post by: Runtus on February 18, 2006, 06:43:56 pm
I see there is an option to help hal pronounce words, I have used this a few times to help him say words like Osiris, yet even though I have corrected it using the pronounciation tool he still says it incorrectly any clues to whats going on here?

I think the pronounciation option is part of the TTS voice, and Hal's option just lets you access it. With the voice I use, I can't change the pronounciation at all - absolutely nothing happens when I click the "Pronounciation" button!

This is immesurably frustrating when I give my bot a name like "KAOS," which my TTS voice insists on pronouncing "cows."

Perhaps try some other TTS voices, maybe you'll have more luck with another one.

Yeah, like the English female pronounces GERBER "GERBER" Like "Gerbil"

it should sound like "grrrrrr-ber"

when correcting TTS voices Using the TTS_SDK..
you are essentially ADDING to the VoicePRofile Thereby creating a NEW VOICE, that voice will need to be saved then selected with the hal.

I couldnt find where the file was saved or what name the file was, i think it may have been one of the GUID type files,  01920190921312lkj132.dll or some thing simular... it was just selectable as a voice..
