I never could turn an AVI into a gif, because the AVI was too large. It took too much memory (I have 1 GB of memory!!!)
So, when I open the AVI in animation shop, I tried "Take sample every 100 frames" and that worked!! I also culled the gif every 2 frames to get the size of the gif down, then reduced the pixels, and this is the result!!
