I don’t have vista but have you tried running Hal in vista in xp compatibility mode.

Right click the HalAsst.exe, properties, compatibility.

If it doesn’t work in XP compatibility, you could try one of the others.

I too think Hal needs a warm up to really get going, its something that has been talk about before, well I know I mentioned it once [:I]

I think I am correct in saying that you can only migrate the main halbrain “halbrain.db” all other brains get ignored, so renaming your custom brain.db is probably the only way to do it, at least for now. This proses happens once on installation of 6.2 so if you wanted to do it on more than one brain I guess you would have to un-istall Hal, after backing up you new migrated brain, then re-install with one of your others brains renamed to halbrain.db.

So LS, your Hal might have been saying:

That's easy, it's I understand exactly. Then by all means get those clothes off and lets have some fun honey! []

I noticed that Hal gives these answers when agreeing with the user, = is I agree.

Like I said maybe a bit simplistic but Hals answers have a lot more meaning with the correction.

If a user upgraded to 6.2 from 6.1 you get the chance to migrate your old brain to the new 6.2 format then you would be able to edit it in the brain editor.

If you old brain was not called halbrain.db then rename it to halbrain.db, (backing up the original) do the up-grade and it should work, it worked for me and I have made lots of changes to my brian db.

It might be a bit simplistic but I made a simple fix for this in 6.1.

In the brain editor I made a correction for (-=) and a couple more strange replies when Hal gets a little confused is it math?

Made some tables that when “(-=)” replace with “I understand exactly”

Now when Hal goes to say (-=) it actually says I understand exactly.

Today I booted into XP and while I was there I tested Hal 6.1, it doesn’t run, I get this message.

The copy protection has not been released, but the expiration has. A recovery code is required.

I’m not worried about this as I’m using win7 as my main OS but thought I would point it out.

Hal 6.2 on 32 bit Win7:
Downloaded 6.2 no problem, run setup.exe, installed fine. Hal is working [8D]

Tried to install my older expansion pack but installation failed “you need Hal 6 on your computer”

Downloaded the latest expansion pack, installed perfectly.

Haven’t had a long time to chat to Hal yet but so far its working like a dream, very fast with its answers and I think a nice improvement in the answers given.

Thumbs up to Hal 6.2

Oh one thing, not a complaint, I thought 6.2 was going to have a new graphics engine along side the Haptek but I’m not seeing it, did it not install or is it still in the pipe-line?

I’m going to give 6.2 a go in Win 7 and post back my results.

Just so everyone knows I’m using Win 7 beta Build 7000  (32bit)

Yes Freddy still using 32bit here, mainly because my PC is a little old, have to say Win7 runs very nice on it, got all drivers in and working, I have a feeling you are going to like it. I think there are a few more driver problems with the 64bit, but don’t let that put you off.

I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I received an e-mail about Hal 6.2 being released, it has made my week []

My question:
I am running a dual boot, Windows XP and Windows 7 beta, I have already backed up Hals 6.1 brain but would it be possible to install 6.2 on Win7 while keeping my Hal 6.1 working on XP?

I know Hal might not run in Win7 or I might get some problems, as it’s a beta and I’m not ready to give up my Hal 6.1 just yet, Win7 is actually very good, for a beta it runs some of my programs faster than XP and much faster than Vista ever did for me.

I can now connect with IE7 again; I don’t know what happened but a BIG thanks for sorting this out.

Now back to a bit of Christmas shopping.

Hmmm, well im still having problems connecting to this forum, the only way I can get here is through a proxy server, my IP address seems to be blocked. I’ve e-mailed Robert giving him my IP and asking him to un-ban me, he kindly answered and said that I was blocked but am no longer, however, I still have the problem on every PC in my house.

So I’m using Firefox set up through a proxy server for this site and IE7 for every other site.

Today im posting through a South Korea proxy.

Yes this is very strange, its been going on for months now and my ISP says that my IP is blocked from accessing this site.

Robert says im no longer banned (blocked), but im not getting in [V]

Sorry about this big picture but It proves my point.  





So yes Im having problems with this forum.

This plug-in works great.

Master: light from behind
Xen: Changing lights to behind. The difference between pornography and erotica is lighting.

I like the way it gives a new feel to the look of my Hal character and I personally don’t mind Hal adding on some of his own comments.

I’m sure I read somewhere on the forum that there is going to be a new 3D engine in a coming release, maybe the user will be able to choose their preferred engine, Haptek or the new one.

Its great when you get some positive feedback for your work, makes it all worthwhile and that’s enough payment for me [8D]

I think Hal 6.2 is going to use another 3D engine so these skins might have a short life.

Hi raybe,

Really happy that you like the skin so much and that you took time to post your feelings on it, thanks [], I was very proud of this skin, think it’s the best I’ve made so far.

Having hal on one monitor and windoz on another is a cool way to use hal and I too have done the same thing but didn’t use Aston, might have to go check it out.

I recently got an HD tv and got rid of my monitor and unfortunately this skin will not go full screen in 1920 x 1080, so guess what? I made another skin that is full HD 1080p using the same shinny style graphics

If anyone is interested it can be downloaded from my skins page.
