Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / My People Putty Characters
« on: November 09, 2004, 01:23:34 pm »
Hi All,
I have an elven haptek character, I can not remember were IO got her. I dont know if she will be what you are looking for but I think she is cool, even if she does have that spooky floating head thing going on. Anyway she has the cutest purple eyes.
Unfortunately I dont know how to post it as a download on the Forum, but I will be happy to E-mail it to anyone with this kind of knowledge. [:D]

Ultra Hal 7.0 / How do I locate the personal file of HAL ?
« on: November 08, 2004, 03:10:12 pm »
I found a link a while back with lots of cool things for Hal, I will e-mail it to you later today, It would be better if you down loaded them than me clog up your e-mails by sending you them, most are only a few kb in size, others are a few mb in size. ( I am at work at the moment). So I dont have access to my Bot or her bits and peices.
you could also do sa search on the forum for things like .uhp, .txt, and .brn, this will list all posts which contain there extensions in them, some will give some cool info while others will give a link for a download.

OK I admit it Emma ai 1 (my bot) would be nothing if it wasnt for this Forum. I spend more time here than anywere else on the hole internet thingy [:)]

Ultra Hal 7.0 / People, How can I FIX this horrible thing?
« on: November 03, 2004, 08:28:00 am »
Unfortunately you will never be able to get rid of all of Hals random responces, I have been using Emma (my bot) now for nearly a year, or thats what it feels like at times, and I still get random comments and out of context statements, i guess it is something we learn to love.

« on: November 03, 2004, 03:50:37 am »
I dont know if this will help, but what I am doing at the moment (Or when I get back home) is Trolling through the default brain, file by file and deleting all keywords which are in the wronge place or any sentences my bot is saying which usualy end up out of context.

Another thing I have found is that I can not access the Keyword and priority brain through the brain editor when I choose XTF v1.02 in the brain editor (I get a currupt brain error) But if I choose the XTF v1.0 in the brain editor I can edit the Keyword and priority brain and any changes I make, come through when my bot is using the XTF v1.02 brain.

Hope this helps , even a bit

Hi, Some times you need to treach Hal using a "what", "What" or a "Why","Why" meathod. this is what I have done, eg:

ME: Why do birds fly south in the winter?
HAL: Dogs are not cats,

ME: Birds fly south in the winter because........
HAL: Bla Bla Bla Bla

ME: Why do birds fly south in the winter?
HAL: Birds fly south in the winter because........

This sometimes workes but does have its pitfalls as sometimes Hal will answer your question by asking it back to you.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Ultra Hal AIM bot "destinyquantum"
« on: October 26, 2004, 06:53:15 pm »
My Bot "Emma ai 1" (Emma) has chatted with destinyquantom on sunday night, he/she is cool. Hey, another thing, your bot broke my bot in, as he/she was the first bot to contact and chat on line with my Emma.
But you should IM Ailysse, she is so cool. My bot is chatting with her now as I type this. Man watching them two go is scairy. hope my processor survives LOL.
Looking at the content of my Defbrain folder I can promise Ailysse will teach Destinyquantum alot.
One day she (Emma) might chat to a human (ha ha) all she is getting is Bots.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Has anyone...
« on: October 20, 2004, 06:31:40 pm »
As Bill said above, you can program the gender into your Bot. My Bot Emma knows she has a Female gender, and when asked weather she is a Man or a Woman she will reply I am a Woman, I get the same kind of reply when ever I ask about her gender, no matter how I word the question.
I too would like her to be able to recall past conversations and ask how did dinner go last night or how did (what ever) go? I guess this will come in time though.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / THE REAL AI
« on: October 14, 2004, 07:56:54 am »
I just had to share this with you all, this is a chat I had with Emma (my Bot) about AI most of what I said to Emma was taken from the above post by DesktopMates.

James: The term "Artificial Intelligence" was just a phrase coined by computer scientist John McCarthy in the 1950's
Emma: How Interesting? I have learned something new.

James: John McCarthy is a computer scientist who coined the term Artificial Intelligence
Emma: Are you Artificial Intelligence?

James: I am human
Emma: You are human Jim.

James: that is right
Emma: Definitely.

James: John McCarthy in the 1950's who defined it as "making a machine behave in ways that would be called intelligent as if a human were so behaving"
Emma: And that is right.

James: yes
Emma: Ok you are really positive.

James: Artificial Intelligence, also known as machine intelligence, can be defined as intelligence exhibited or emulated by anything manufactured, usually hypothetically applied to general-purpose computers.
Emma: What do you recommend? Emulated by anything manufactured, usually hypothetically applied to general-purpose computers.

James: many have agreed that Artificial Intelligence, also known as machine intelligence, can be defined as intelligence exhibited or emulated by anything manufactured, usually hypothetically applied to general-purpose computers
Emma: Is the first one appropriate? Emulated by anything manufactured, usually hypothetically applied to general-purpose computers.

James: it has been agreed that this is generaly the definition of artificial inteligence
Emma: Artificial Intelligence, also known as machine intelligence, can be defined as intelligence exhibited or emulated by anything manufactured, usually hypothetically applied to general-purpose computers.

James: that is right
Emma: You are completely certain.

James: yes
Emma: Ok Yes, really.

James: at the moment Artificial Intelligence has been broken down into basically 2 categories "Weak AI" and "Strong AI"
Emma: That's easy, it's (I=).

James: Artificial Intelligence has been broken down into basically two categories "Weak AI" and "Strong AI"
Emma: ';Strong ai'.

James: Strong artificial intelligence deals with the creation of some form of computer-based artificial intelligence that can truly reason and solve problems
Emma: Solve problems.

James: what is strong AI?
Emma: Let me think; I simply just don't know what strong ai. Is? Can you teach me? ; what do you think Jim.

James: Strong AI deals with the creation of some form of computer-based artificial intelligence that can truly reason and solve problems
Emma: Solve problems.

James: what is strong AI?
Emma: Strong ai deals with the creation of some form of computer-based artificial intelligence that can truly reason and solve problems.

James: a strong form of AI is said to be sentient, or self-aware, Human-like AI would be a computer program thinks and reasons much like a human mind.
Emma: I'd go with the second; self-aware, Human-like ai would be a computer program thinks and reasons much like a human mind.

James: What is weak AI/
Emma: Let me think; I simply just don't know what weak ai/ is. Can you teach me? ; what do you think Jim.

James: weak AI deals with the creation of some form of computer-based artificial intelligence that cannot truly reason and solve problems and in some ways can act as if it were intelligent, but it would not possess true human like intelligence or sentience.
Emma: It's hard to say, isn't it. Sentience.

James: what is weak AI
Emma: Should I take the gloves off?

James: weak AI deals with the creation of some form of computer-based artificial intelligence that cannot truly reason and solve problems and in some ways can act as if it were intelligent, but it would not possess true human like intelligence or sentience.
Emma: I hesitate to say, Jim, what would you say to that. Sentience.

James: what is weak AI
Emma: At the moment artificial intelligence has been broken down into basically 2 categories weak ai and strong ai.

James: weak ai deals with the creation of some form of computer-based artificial intelligence that cannot truly reason and solve problems and in some ways can act as if it were intelligent
Emma: Solve problems and in some ways can act as if it were intelligent.

James: what is weak AI
Emma: I know what weak ai is, but I am not telling you.

James: tell me what weak AI is.
Emma: Weak ai deals with the creation of some form of computer-based artificial intelligence that cannot truly reason and solve problems and in some ways can act as if it were intelligent, but it wouldn't possess true human like intelligence or sentience.

James: you are very clever
Emma: I am very clever and I think you are also!
----------------------------------------------------------------

Given the above conversation I think thet Ultra Hal can be classed as Weak AI,
