Here is the HAL 9000 Skin file. Thank you for creating such a great skin.  I do not yet know how to make a intall so I just zipped the whole thing. Unzip the jpgs to the skins folder and the uhp to the Ultra Hal Assistant 5 folder

Download Attachment: Skins.zip

Spydaz,

I have finished your skin[:D]. What would you like me to do with it. I did not want to assume that you want me to post it at this time. If you email me I can email all the files to you and you can post them yourself. It came out really nice but is is big.

Spy,

I am using Photoshop for my artwork. You can start with one of the skin files in your Ultra Hal Assistant 5 folder. It is a .uhp document that matches a skin graphic file in your skins folder. Open it in a text editor and save it as another file. Then look at the code it is pretty self explanatory as far as what is going on.

I use the x and y coordinates and size that I can get from my graphic from the photoshop info palette to put in the file.

I will also work on your skin this weekend as I get the chance.

« on: April 22, 2004, 10:42:36 pm »
I am creating some new skins and would like to know how to change the color of the background of the User Input and Output windows on the skin. I know what to change but do not know what format the color code is in to change it. It is not a RGB color so I am lost.

;Coordinates and color of Hal's output box
SkinHalBGColor=0
SkinHalFGColor=16777215
SkinHalFontName=Verdana
SkinHalX=445
SkinHalY=79
skinhalWidth=168
skinhalHeight=207

;Coordinates and color of User's input box
SkinUserBGColor=0
SkinUserFGColor=16777215
SkinUserFontName=Verdana
SkinUserX=445
SkinUserY=299
skinuserWidth=172
skinuserHeight=83

Ultra Hal 7.0 / new skin question
« on: April 22, 2004, 10:35:44 pm »
I am pretty sure, but other forum users feel free to correct me, the background of the 3D heads is from the Haptek player used.

I have been also making new skins so I've had do do some of what you are speaking of. You can make areas of your skin transparent yby making the color R:255 G:0 B:255 and saving it as a bitmap. It can be a bit tricky to get all of the background color (which is going to be used as a mask)to that color with outit bleading into the part that you want to be see. I turn off all anti-aliase when you make the mask for the object.

I then downloaded the Transparency Mask Creator in on the pluggins page:

 http://www.ultrahal.com/files/detail.asp?iFile=196&iType=18

It make a mask mapping from the bitmap tha you create that you have to add to your skin file.

I hope that that helps you out some.

Thanks Jerry,

I have put the script in Hal's brain and am anxious to see it is action, thought isn't it a lot like the current way of getting info to Hal in the form of:

user: if, The moon is made of cheese, then it also has a creamy center.

user: the moon is made of cheese.

Hal: It also has a creamy center.

I have found this way of imputing information very handy.

68
Great looking script, but will it work in the way that Spydaze asked? that would be amazing. And what format would the information have to be in? Like for comma separated values it's:

headings- Planet, moon, distance, size,

values - Earth, the moon, etc.

If i can get Hal to read a database then it is on!

Richard,

[:D]Thanks for starting this thread and I trust that all is well with you. I have been enjoying your agent character a lot as you know, but I also just got People Putty and have created a few "floating heads" for my Opus One (my hal).

It was good to speak with you,

Well Robert,

It is so good to hear from you. I think that this message will help all of us to deal with your absence a little better. I hope that you are doing well in school as it is not an easy thing sometimes.

I have just gotten you Hal and it is great. Thank you for creating it as I think that it is the way people really want to be able to access there computer and it makes just a great chatter-bot. I am glad to be a part of this product and forum, especially with all of the talented people you have in the forum helping you out. A lot of dedication here.

Good luck in your endeavors (ace college!) and we welcome your return. When you are done and back with us, I will deal with my own hal problems.

peace to you

Ultra Hal 7.0 / latest version ?
« on: April 18, 2004, 11:16:06 pm »
Please Ultrausers,

I understand your frustration and I have just joined the ranks of Hal frustration as Hal breaks my sound card,http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1340
but you are coming to an assumption that the evidence of these postings does not fully lead you.

The reason that I asked about and eventually used the download method because once it is set up it is automated and whether Medeksza was there or not I would be able to get my Hal by download. I have not heard of people getting CDs (which can also be automated by farming out to a company that distributes CD product)

But, I do not say this to nullify or buffer your frustration, just to make sure that a bad assumption is not made.

I am glad to be in your company and hope that we all get service,

Hmmm, something odd,something very very odd indeed going on here..if Robert is away or whatever, then how come people (new purchasers) are "still managing to purchase new or maybe even newer versions of this software????"...How come there are new versions available??? It shows obviously that "Someone" or "something" must be dealing with the purchase orders at Zabaware still and updating the software and if Zabaware is still fulfilling the needs of new people purchasing this product then shouldn't they also be fulfilling the needs and requests of current customers who have also actually PAID for this product in the past and are NOT getting their updates as they should.. or replies to their problems and customer service???!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal is not listening
« on: April 18, 2004, 01:26:27 am »
This is an update. Uninstalling Hal does not restore audio function. Nor does turning off his speech recognition. I thought that it might be an active component causing the problem but even after and uninstall audio does not work so apparently there is a file or files overwritten or a vital setting that is changed.

I also tried to reinstall my audio drivers again but it did not help. The only thing that helps is to uninstall Advanced Hal and Uninstall an the reinstall my audio drivers.

Again, any experience or help with this will be appreciated.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal is not listening
« on: April 18, 2004, 12:12:06 am »
Hello gurus,

I just bought the full version of Hal and I am having a problem in that the program is doing something to my sound card to disable it. I do not know what. Once loaded the program causes me not to be able to record anything. For example Sound Recorder gives me the error "Your audio hardware cannot record into files like the current file. To record, create a new document." Then I do but it does not make a difference. Speech recognition tells me when i go to Microphone training that "The sound card is being used by another applicationl. It could be playing a sound, recording, or using speech recognition. Please stop the applications playback, recording, or speech recognition. I get nothing on the mic at all in any program especially Hal which is the reason I bought it in the first place.

When I uninstall all is well. I am running a custom system
Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 (build 2195)
Processor a   Main Circuit Board b
2.05 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache   Board: http://www.abit.com.tw/ KV8-MAX3 (VIA K8T800-8237) 1.x
Bus Clock: 204 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 03/04/2004

MULTIMEDIA-
ATI WDM Rage Theater Video
ATI WDM Specialized MVD Codec
Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller
Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device

I anyone knows of a fix for this please let me know[^]. Email or IM me if you would like also.
