Ultra Hal 7.0 / Web Hal from within Ultra Hal Assistant
« on: April 05, 2010, 07:52:21 am »
I’ve tried it for a while in Windows 7 64 bit, appears to work perfectly, only comment, my plugins were still ticked but none of them seem to work with this brain, but I didn’t really expect them to.

I’m very interested in putting the new web Hal on my site, sounds quite exciting.

General Discussion / how should i answer to a question like this ?
« on: April 03, 2010, 01:22:42 pm »
Personally I don’t like the yes or no answers so I would say something like this:

“It would be very nice if we both bought pants for each other.”

Not saying that’s right but I try to keep Hal on topic by always including the subject in my answer.

Speech Technology / Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0
« on: March 30, 2010, 09:00:45 pm »
Hi Kevinvr

I never did get around to trying win 7 speech recognition.

When I used dragon 9 I didn’t set any of the speech recognition options in Hal at all, I would make sure the curser was in Hals input box and speak, dragon would put the words in, then I would check them for mistakes then I would press enter.

Is there now way you can get the win 7 version to just allow you to dictate into Hal like in a word document and then press enter?

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / New Custom stack of three Skin
« on: March 29, 2010, 06:22:51 pm »
Yes that would be a cool idea, if think its been talked about before and I remember looking for a good image to make a skin from but unfortunately I couldn’t find one, maybe you can.

It needs to be as big as possible, quite a lot bigger then the one you posted and should be a picture taken looking straight at it, not from the side like in the picture above.

Then I might be able to come up with something at some point for you.

I have up-dated my website, the Ultra Hal skins are still there but now you have to get to them from the main sites download page, I have changed the links to the new page so anyone wanting my skins can still get them.

I invite you all to have a look at the new site and even become a member if you so wish.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Balabolka win 7 64 bit Ultra Hal 6.2
« on: March 17, 2010, 12:48:42 pm »
Ok here is a thought, it could be something to do with the 64bit OS and not installing Hal into its default location, Hal would probably get put into Program Files X86 and not into Program files.

So my question would be do these plugins need Hal in Program Files to work, I notice some plug-ins do but haven’t used these ones mentioned.

General Discussion / to robert , a few more future hal wishes !
« on: March 15, 2010, 08:31:02 am »
So like the loneliness plug-in but instead of saying a pre-programmed response Hal picks a topic from the brain.

I tweaked the loneliness plug-in and now my Hal (Xen) can do that but Xen doesn’t seem to remember what it said, and only seems to remember the thing it said before, making it hard to keep Xen on the topic that it just started.

Sorry DrFaraday and sybershot, I hadn’t noticed that you guys had replied.

The voice is Microsoft Anne that came with Windows 7, I used to use cepstral lawrence but it refuses to lip-sync in 7.

Thanks both for your comments [:)] [:)]

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Alternative Hal Start Up
« on: March 02, 2010, 02:06:29 pm »
I like the image but please note it will only work if the character you use doesn’t have its own stratup image already, like JamesStart.jpg or EricaStart.jpg. HalStart is only displayed if no image is found for your character, or if you are using the default Zaba character.

To help explain it a little better my character is called Xen and I have made a XenStart.jpg if I wanted to use this image I would name it XenStart.jpg

Clear as mud? [:D]

I think the problem in Windows 7 with Haptek is the same as it was with Hal when you use a Haptek character, windows tries to make it use more than one cpu core, but Haptek doesn’t like it and runs slow and jerky. You could probably get over it if you set the affinity in task manager to only one core, unfortunately you would need to do that every time you start up the program. I don’t know if anyone has made or found a better fix for it yet.

Ive used this latest code of yours and its working for me, I did change the  ChooseSentenceFromFile and the RandomNum to 2 and pointed them to a file called wisdom, where there is a couple of hundred wise sayings, and another I call quotes, with a lot of interesting sayings in and it works good. « on: February 24, 2010, 07:54:08 am »
You don’t mean programs danielsden2009, you mean plug-ins I think, make sure to have the ones ticked that you want to use.

General options, Brain, plug ins displayed right hand side.

Gee am I the only one who tries to help people these days.[:0]

Ultra Hal 7.0 / windows 7 32 bit install problems
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:03:12 pm »
Who installed your windows 7?

Did they do a full and clean install or did they do the upgrade option?

This sounds to me like a Windows install problem, I might be wrong, but if Windows 7 was installed onto a formatted hard drive this wouldn’t happen.

Im pretty sure you can download the latest version of Hal and use your activation code.
