Ultra Hal Assistant / MSScript.ocx and AgentCTL.DLL problems FIXED
« on: September 01, 2001, 12:01:46 pm »
The first release of Ultra Hal Assistant 4.0 had some problems registering 2 components in the system registry. A new version has been posted on this site that fixes these installation errors. The free version can be downloaded from  The full version can be downloaded from

If you do not wish to redownload the entire program all over again, you may simply download the missing components. The MSScript.OCX component can be downloaded from  The AgentCTL.DLL component can be downloaded from

In addition to fixing these 2 problems, the updated version also contains the following improvements:
  • The full version now includes the new Microsoft SAPI 5.1 speech recognition engine instead of version 5.0. See for more information on the new speech recognition engine.

  • A "Learn from a Text File" feature has been added to Ultra Hal's menu. This feature will allow Hal to read any text file and learn from the information inside of it.

  • COM port setting bug fixed. In the previous version it was difficult to configure Hal's phone dialer option because it wouldn't let you easily change the COM port. This has been fixed

  • Save option in the HalPad has been fixed. The previous version generated an error when you tried to save a file.

Ultra Hal Assistant / Voice
« on: August 30, 2001, 04:10:22 pm »

I have already downloaded Hal with a CD. In the demo version it was possible to hear Hal. Now, I can't hear it. Which option have I to choose to set up the voice ?

Some older sound cards do not support full duplex. This means that if you are using the microphone with speech recognition to speak to Hal, your sound card is not able to speak at the same time. If you disable speech recognition, Hal will probably be able to speak again. Some sound cards actually support full duplex, but their drivers do not. You should visit your sound card manufacturer's web site to download the latest driveres for your sound card. If it is a hardware limitation, then the only thing you could do is buy a new sound card.

Also, an updated installation program has been posted on our site, and you can use the download link provided in your order email to download it if you wish.
