need help.......
« on: September 23, 2006, 02:38:30 am »
Hi Guys, 1st visit here..pull up a coffee and read lol.

I have downloaded the free version of hal6, and have noticed something is draining my system terribly.

I have d/l the voice regog prog and tried to set it up to speak to, but no luck, have done the voice test etc...

I am wanting to buy this program as I have a blind daughter living in another country and has just bought a comp, but cant of course see anything, her partner can set hal up, if I can sus it out, however I need to know how to work this prog out, have followed the online tut, to no avail, when I have the mike on and try to talk, the window just fills up with "blah blah blah" which is really fraustrating, if I manually ask something, the reply is just rubbish, im not knocking the prog, its awesome, but I need it to do what its meant to do, be intellent back lol

Can someone please be patient enough to explain it to me, or is there a tut I can download to work through..

to the guy maoning his guts out and threating the owner....I have a web site that generates an ave of 7 mill hits a month, how quick do you think I can get through 1000's of emails a day....I cant. but I do eventually.

Welcome kiwimike,

I believe the Free version does not support voice recognition but does have speech synthesis (the computer speaks to you).

Hal can do many things as shown in the various screens from the home page prompts.

If one wishes to use additional characters, then purchase the character expansion pack.

Voice recognition is still not 100 % perfect in any program but it can be trained to do fairly well for most applications.

The tutorial online was written for Hal 5 and while most can be applied to Hal 6, there are a few functions that may not work exactly the same.

Check out the forum archives (older posts) and you'll likely find answers to your questions.

Good luck!
