Teaching Hal (ideas that can be used)
« on: December 04, 2003, 05:59:03 pm »
Are there any good ideas on teaching Hal than that what was mentioned so far?

Also, I know hal can read text documents, etc.   What he reads, does he rememeber?

If so, you could give it a dictionary.txt and he can scan through it and rememeber it?

Are there basic Text files that teach basic learning principles?

Like what does HOT mean... and what HOT can be connected with?

I am just thinking of faster ways to get HAL to be more informational.

thanks for the help!

Unfortunately there aren't any shortcuts to teaching Hal. Hal can "learn" a little bit from being fed small size .txt files. That method isn't very conducive to learning. Hal tends to learn best by associating sentences from a conversation into various .brn files. Hal provides the best response he knows for any sentence the user inputs based on previous experience. The more you talk to him, the more associations he can make. You will have to discuss topics extensively before Hal can start conversing with some intelligence.
