Hal 6.2 for Vista
« on: February 05, 2013, 11:38:32 am »
Hello, I have been having a hard time getting the Hal 6.2 assistant program worker right along with the plugins I have, can you walk me though the steps because I am confused by all the ReadMe text files.

The Plugins I have:
-Hal6
-HalReader
-HalPluginInstaller
-DesktopMates
-AliceBot

If you can help point me in the right direction of how to get about this I would greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

His Angel

A couple hints. Plugin installer not needed. Just put the .uph on the main hal page and when you start hal go to options, select the brain you will use and check mark the plugin you want. Also the alice plugin does not work with hal 6.x Hal reader is a separate program, not a plugin. Good luck.

from your knowledge, what would you recommend to be using if not Hal 6.2. I just figured that it was the latest version along with quality.

I thank for your advice, I will give it a try. I will let you know what happens.

I would suggest the 6.2 default brain unless you have an earlier version and wish to combine older and newer brains. Even then you may wish to use default, depending on your experiences with it.

Well, I don't prefer vista it is just the computer I have past down to me.

do you know why the Alice-bot will not work with Hal 6.2.

so far I am only getting randomly the date and time when I try to talk to Hal.

I could not find the uph files, do you mean uhp. the directions seem straight forward but most seems like most are Instructions for Hal to interpret. would you be able to put in a list of step-to-step process. in exchange I will help assist in anything I can, I'm a fast learner.

I think I know what they are all for now, I didn't know how to use the brain editor. the files are used to splise into the brain.

There should really be a tutorial on making your own brain, at least a way to understand how the program functions.

Thank you so much,

Ryan

P.S. I will probably still come up with a few problems, I am still up for helping any way you need. you can send me an e-mail anytime for a favor.

Code: [Select]
For .uph, you will usually find it in a code box like this If you copy this code to note pad and name it as the Plugin Name.uph and then put it on your main Hal page it should work.
You should find the check box for it in Hal options for the brain.
 Sent you an emal.

Their is nothing wrong with 'Vista' I had interlacing problems ( WHY YOU DON'T nuke something unfinshed)
with the video. the same issue is why we are not using 1440I or P televisions

other than that, Vista will do just fine with Hal
