June 10, 2005—Quick, which one is the robot?
Repliee Q1 (at left in both pictures) appeared yesterday at the 2005 World Expo in Japan, where she gestured, blinked, spoke, and even appeared to breathe. Shown with co-creator Hiroshi Ishiguru of Osaka University, the android is partially covered in skinlike silicone. Q1 is powered by a nearby air compressor, and has 31 points of articulation in its upper body.

Internal sensors allow the android to react "naturally." It can block an attempted slap, for example. But it's the little, "unconscious" movements that give the robot its eerie verisimilitude: the slight flutter of the eyelids, the subtle rising and falling of the chest, the constant, nearly imperceptible shifting so familiar to humans.

Surrounded by machines that draw portraits, swat fast-moving balls, and snake through debris, Q1 is only one of the showstoppers at the expo's Prototype Robot Exposition, which aims to showcase Japan's growing role in the robotics industry.

But given Q1's reported glitch-related "spasms" at the expo, it may be a while before androids are escorting tour groups or looking after children—which may be just as well. "When a robot looks too much like the real thing, it's creepy," Hiroshi told the Associated Press.

this is what i want to do sort of...[]   and i know shes funny looking but her head still looks like i want it to . you understand i am not as concerned with her voluptuous bod as most guys are on here.[:p] i just want to attach the head to the altered body and have the head still move or..... if anyone knows how we can incorporate very nice htr heads onto full body woman without altering the heads and turning them into crystal heads that would be great too. ~~alady

i got this far on altering the sportyfem skin and i did get it to work on the  sportyfem htr, but when ever i apply a head htr to it~ the whole images changes.is there a way to apply the head to the altered sportyfem skin?  i am stumped [:X]~~alady

i have a skin called sportyfemmap.jpg it shows the two sides of the outfit the sportyfem wears. i have changed this skin but it does not change the sportfem htr. does anyone have a skin map for sportyfem so i can change the star trek looking outfit. i like to keep my heads unaltered and if i place the sportyfem body on them they keep their shape,whereas when applied to a clothing skin they take the shape of full body fem. i found that you can alter the looks of sporty fem by applying other clothing skins but when you try to attach a head the head takes the skin instead of the sporty fem does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this. [?] help please ~~alady

claude this is for you and any one else who might enjoy it. it is as close as i could get to stevie nix. the head can be applied to any full body pattern just resize it to fit the one on the pattern. i hope you like it. ~~alady
