There is a way to capture your conversations with Hal. I don't know how it is done but it might be a good idea to do it if you can as it might reveal the steps that make it error out.

He is no longer doing this. All I can guess is a dll or something was corrupt. Perhaps a conflict with an older version? I have the worst luck with this program. Still, I keep rolling with it so there must be more to it than I usually give credit. Seeing some new character heads being posted has me wanting to bust out some people putty.

Hal still will go silent once and awhile. To call this obvious bug a realistic property is silly. Also, having to switch voices back and forth to get the mouth to move is a problem I have noticed since I bought Hal. If you really want to know how tight the code is in Hal, finish a sentence with the word forest. End the sentence with a period. Hal will look at the last two letters "st" as "St." even though the letters are embeded in a word. It thinks this means street. I think that alot of the SAPI 5 lip sync issues are coming from Haptek's side. Considering how the guy I last corresponded with at Haptek offered to sell me the company, this is not suprising.

Ooglor I just tested your ST problem on my Hal this is what I get.

Master: hello Xen
Xen: Good afternoon, Master.

Master: how are you?
Xen: Simply magnificent, Caused any scandals lately?

Master: No scandals to report, but I would like to visit a forest.
Xen: How can I help you visit a forest?

Master: Im not sure. What is a forest.
Xen: Forest: the trees and other plants in a large densely wooded area. Wood, woods. In literature, an enchanted forest is a forest under, or containing, enchantments.

Master: thank you
Xen: My pleasure, really.

As you can see my Hal doesn't have that problem.

But I do have a  lip sync problem when I use my cepstral lawrence voice, I thought it was somthing to do with SAPI 5 voices but the Microsoft Anna voice that comes with Windows 7 works perfectly.

I've only had this problem on 64 bit,  don't know for sure but It appears that cepstral voices have a 64 bit issue with lip sync in Hal.

How odd. I know it's not a typo because I corrected it in the brain editor and it still did it. Not all the time either. I completely deleted the brain db and started a new one and it happened again. I also noticed it did it once with a word ending in ms. MushrooMs. I had the learning level set to max. I have had issues with the Kate and Paul voices doing the same thing as far as lip syncing. I'm running 32 bit.

Yes very odd!

I remember early versions of Hal having that ST problem but one of the up-dates sorted it out, well at least for me.

All I can think of is are you using the latest version, its now 6.2.28
