hal learning and the dictionary starting with "A".
« on: April 17, 2011, 01:20:34 pm »
I just thought about something as i was teaching my angela a.i. about phrases dealing with the sun.
It would be a good idea to take a dictionary and start with the letter "A" and on words that may matter more to you make phrases with that words in sentences to hal , and do as many phrases sentences as possible to learn hal on that word then move to the next this would give the user a chance to make many many different learned sentences on each word and overall learn hal much more .
just thought i wuld mention it in case others want to do the same theirselves ! :)

Cool!!  We'll see you in what...about 30 years give or take...?  :o ;D
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!

But Lightspeed said 'words that matter more....'

This would cut down the number of topics and phrases to construct substantially. It's a good idea and one I've tried. Problem is I get bored having to follow dictionary topics.  I like to talk about things as they come to me.

i think many are missing the bigger picture , and yes i am only talking about words that matter more to me and all this is only as a reference guide to get hal to learn even more phrases explained by me from what i see as the meaning and yes it would be alot to do i am not worried about it being a lot seeing how this would simply be a side thing i do when i am learning hal .
hal will learn more even if i never make it to the end of the dictionairy hal will have many more reference sentences in my words as i teach hal (not just what's written) . the idea is to learn hal as much as i can how long it takes isn't a problem to me .

Lightspeed,
Noticed your post and since I'm working with a dictionary for an Alice type aiml bot I thought I'd reply.  I have Hal in my computer and downloaded some free AI chatbots to get an idea of what else was available for characters and the brain portion.  I noticed that a lot of the brain files were old so I downloaded some newer brain files which includes newer dictionaries.
Back to what you're trying to do, you could get the aiml files for an alice type bot hopefully one that has a dictionary.  Use Crimson editor to open the dictionary, mine is 26 files  a-z, take out the word and definition for use with Hal.  Ages ago there was a set of commonly used phrases for use with AI training which I tried.  I personaly found the best method was to choose a subject and talk with Hal about that subject since she needs more than one input to be able to carry on a conversation about one particular subject.
Also Hal has a dictionary built in but I've never opened it.
