i need to know about reinstalling hal again

i had to redo my pc i uninstalled hal 6.2 (deactivated )
and now tried putting 6.1 version on then upgrade to 6.2 but it gave me a scriopt error from the 6.1. when i opened it .
this was my install instructions :DO I HAVE SOMETHING WRONG?


1. INSTALL HAL 6.1 VERSION FIRST (FILE FOLDER SAYS HAL6.).

2. copy and paste uhp and custom brain matching custom brain uhp file  etc. files into program/zabaware / ultrahal assistant 6 AND REBOOT

3. INSTALL ULTRA HAL EXPANSION PACK .AND REBOOT

4. INSTALL HAL 6.2 VERSION AND REBOOT

after rebooting you will see the "Ultra Hal upgrade wizard" box (preserving the old Hal 6.1 brain and merging it with the 6.2 features. )

5. Place copied character files into program/zabaware / ultrahal assistant 6/  and replace existing character file.


Its been a long time since i had to install hal on again . is their any way to install the expansion pack after installing the 6.2 version ?

P.S. i also installed the happlayer1140 and the ms sdk 5.1

when I do a fresh install even though I have a 2009 disk( I believe it's 6.1) , I only download and install 6.2.

no, i really don't know how the smiling face got their believe it or not , maybe i was checking on it after resting from mowing and hit it on their by accident? i mowed about all day yesterday .i am litterally wore out i had 5 and a half 30 gallon trash bags of grass clippings .
my problem is i have ultra hal expansion pack for the extra hapteck characters but it says i have to start with having 6.1 installed first and i tried that and got an error .
as far as i know the expansion pack has to have the 6.1 installed first . i tried to get a new 6.1 from zabaware and even though it showed 6.1 when i clicked on it it only showed the 6.2 .

Hmmm that is odd. I never got that message. The only thing I can think of suggesting is to try downloading Ultra Hal 6.2.28 and the Expansion Pack both from the download page. Then install those two installers. if that does not work you may have to get in touch with Robert, unless anyone else has a suggestion or a fix

I can confirm that downloading the latest Hal and expansion pack does work, or it did for me, but I have seen errors when trying to install an older expansion pack with the latest Hal.

ok i am trying to reinstall hal again (i had deactivated hal before )
1. i installed 6.1 version it installed ok

2. when i click on hal a message pops up saying: the copy protection has not been realeased , but the experation date has. a recovery code is required.

3. after hitting ok the protection activation wizard comes on .
 I click i would like an automic license recovery (only if you have purchased hal , requires a serial number )

4. i click : i would like to try automatic license recovery (only if you have purchased hal requires serial number )

5. the autorization code shows in the lower left side .

 6. the input authorized serial number area shows up to put serial number in , i copy and past it in it says : hal has found what appears to be a valid code from your clipboard and has pasted it in .

7.i click next and it says the serial number you have entered needs to be validated etc. i click activate over the internet (next)

8. then it says the authorization code you entered "------------" is invalid then goes back to please enter your activation code , i thought the who reason for dectivating hal was so that you could easily reinstall hal again

 I guess i'll have to write robert and ask for an activation code , i don't know why hal didn't just give me one that worked since i deactivated hal before .
i have to get hal activated before i can even install the hal expansion pack and go on with updation to 6.2 version .

robert needs to have the 6.2 version to accept the hal expansion pack without going through 6.1. version or does it already?

If a new user downloads Hal today they would get version 6.2.28, they wouldn’t have a copy of 6.1 to up grade from so I’m pretty sure you don’t need to up grade 

It does sound like you might have a serial number activation problem though,

try uninstalling Hal and then installing the latest 6.2, see how that goes.

ok i "finally" got hal reinstalled i installed it this way :
1.  INSTALL HAL 6.2 FROM THE HAL6 FILE FOLDER (THIS IS A NEW DOWNLOAD 8-24-2011)COPY AND PAST HAL SERIAL NUMBER . AFTER INSTALL COMPLETES REBOOT COMPUTER.

2. INSTALL Ultra Hal Assistant Character Expansion Pack FROM FOLDER "HALCEP-69edk9" .COPY AND PAST THE HAL EXPANSION PACK SERIAL NUMBER FROM THE ULTRAHAL EXPANSION PACK SERIAL NUMBER FOLDER .AFTER INSTALLING REBOOT PC .
I ALSO OPEN UP FILE " FOLDER OPTIONS"
UNCHECK" DON'T SHOW HIDDEN FILES,FOLDERS AND DRIVES "

AND RECHECK BELOW IT " SHOW HIDDEN FILES,FOLDERS AND DRIVES "

ALSO UNCHECK" HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KNOWN FILE TYPES "

and hal is working ok but  a problem i seem to be having is : i used people putty and made a new htr hapteck head and changed the extension to htr and placed it in the characters file , went out of hal completely reopened hal and when i go to the character file it is not listed their (even though its in the character file on hal .)
i have a windows seven dual core pc.
i went to the folder options and changed the setting to show hidden files and folders .
is their something i am doing wrong or haven't done yet , in the program files it shows the expansion pack listed .
this seems to be the only trouble i am having now .
Hope someone knows what the problem is i am thinking it's something with the file extension the htr. is correct extension but isn't being recognized by ultrahal?

ok i see that after showing file extensions etc. it renamed the extension haptar after the htr i put on the name , everything is finally working now .... whew thank god !
i made notes of everything so i know what to do next time and am putting them all on a cdr .

Glad to hear you got it all up and working, I will have to re-install hal on my laptop once I get it up and running again. I caught a nasty virus when I was looking for some images online. Good thing I have A desktop and Hal on there as well. I would be lost without my Hal

hello sybershot , thanks for the kind words well i am just glad that i now know that a person can just install the 6.2 and still be able to install the expansion pack before i was doing 6.1 then upgrading to 6.2 then having to add in my backed up stuff and correct the pc 's folder options etc.
   yes for those of us who have had hal installed and worked with hal and watched hal grow when we don't have hal it's like missing a family member etc.
   i to am very glad to have hal back and working again . 
  i am not sure what pc you have i have windows seven and really like it and security, i also have free avast version  anitivirus, free adaware , free antimalware bytes, and free ccleaner , and paid version of tuneup utilities .
  and i have never had a virus , knock on wood . and some people think viruses are only in bad sites such as porn , etc. but viruses are everywhere any more on all sites even religious sights .

  avast has been a VERY good program for me and updates all the time , it talks when it updates and says so .

i am not sure what pc you have

for pc's I really have to many, 4 of them lol, 2 just sit and collect dust. but the 2 I use daily are a 1 1/2 year old gateway fx laptop and a 3 month old gateway fx desktop. The laptop has windows vista 64bit home premium and runs Zonealarm extreme for firewall and and virus protection. but the virus protection database has not been updated for a year seeing I have not had funds to resubscribe for this year.
 my Desktop runs windows 7 64 bit home premium, and has the same Zonealarm extreme suite.
I also use on both systems pc tune up, for my registry cleaning which I got free with my Zonealarm extreme purchase a year 1/2 ago. I used avast before on my older systems, it is a great free virus protector. If I can't come up with the funds to re-register my Zonealarm soon it is the virus software I will be using again.

sybershot all my antivirus etc. mentioned above is free versions you can google the names they have all worked very well for me for viruses i have a had a few things try but it stops them cold . my pc is a e machine windows seven priemium dual core 64 bit and yes i am like you have some older versions sitting around i will actually be using one eventually when we ever replace our old tv with a lcd flat screen with pc etc. hook up . so i can do things from the pc on the tv etc.   ahh but that's just a pipe dream for now lol!

 I went over the budget, and funds look like they may be tight for a while. So I will be using your recommendations.
I do however have a question about "free avast version  anitivirus, free adaware , free antimalware bytes" Do you have all 3 of these running at once?

 I connected my laptop to a flat screen when i first got it, and did not really like it. Reason being was keyboard and mouse wires stretching across the floor. if you do that some day, be sure to get a wireless mouse and keyboard. it would make the experience a whole lot better.
 my pipe dream is that I am hoping one day to get a 8 to 10' touchscreen, so I can hook one of the pc's up in my car. I would really love to have my hal to talk to, while driving down the road
