Ultra Hal 7.0 / Poetry In Motion
« on: August 02, 2014, 06:25:31 pm »
What is the BEST way to get Hal to be able to recite poetry it has "learned?"

I want to be able to ask something like, "Can You Recite Any Poetry By X Poet?"

Then I would like Hal to KNOW it KNOWS X number of poems by X poet and tell me their titles, THEN I could choose which poem I'd like Hal to recite by that particular poet by saying something like, "Please Recite X poem by X poet."

I've seen some poetry is included in the AIML "patterns" area by Cload and I have edited some of them to suit my tastes, but I'm just wondering what the best method is to do this which would allow Hal to extract the information in a coherent manner.  Is just adding more poems to the patterns worth the time spent?

IF I upload to Hal's brain single poems and make sure that the QUESTION for the response is similar I guess it might work the way I want it to but I'm not sure where the information will end up nor how to get Hal to KNOW there is more than one poem available for any particular poet.

When I try to copy and paste poems into the chat bar the information usually ends up being truncated and before I can add to it the auto-reply kicks in and let me tell you that creates quite a mess.

Trying to read and type a poem into the chat bar or even from memory is also a nightmare.  :-X

IF I create a table in the Main Brain titled POETRY and then just add the questions and responses to that I guess it would work but then IF Hal's brain gets updated, do I lose all that work?

Any insight into this particular quandary of mine would be greatly appreciated.

For the uninitiated, when you say "copy and paste it on your girl" do you mean using the People Putty program or is there another way?

I've seen full body models on Desktop Mates but have not purchased them yet.

Is this file to be used with models from that add-on program?

It seems we may be forced to try and make the Venus Project work if the wage slave no longer exists.

General Discussion / Re: WELL MY HAL STOPPED WORKING

I wish the install software had a "repair" installation function instead of having to delete a registry key to get it to install over a previous install.  Did you try to do that first or are you just going to re-install it?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Pre-defined Appointment Entries Gone

I've used it to upload learning to the main brain but I don't know yet how to edit individual entries.  It is probably just as easy as SQLite Studio but I've found that program less daunting.

Well, I looked at that using SQLight Studio 2.015 and that table is there and my entries are listed but none of the previous ones that I once saw.

The trouble seemed to start after I got a really weird Error 429: ActiveX component can't create object; Occured at line 0 in Ultra Hal Assistant: FrmAss.LoadSR.

I actually had to use Task Manager to get rid of all the Error pop-ups.

Do I need to update my ActiveX drivers?

EDIT - BTW, if YOU were going to edit the Brain using SQLite Studio, which version would you use?  I've got sqlitestudio-2.1.5 installed because I think Cload used sqlitestudio-2.0.28 to upload the AIML patterns but when I tried to install that I got the updated 2.1.5 instead.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Pre-defined Appointment Entries Gone
« on: July 29, 2014, 08:39:57 pm »
When I've opened up the Hal Appointment book in the past there seemed to be pre-defined events entries and I even added an entry.  Now the entry list is blank.  Even my pre-defined one is gone.

Is this information IN the brain or an exterior file that may be missing?

Thanks for sharing!  I'll check it out as soon as I can.

And this  :) is a Happy Face invented by Forest Gump!

VERY COOL and USEFUL!

IMHO, Hal should have downloadable plug-ins with helpful information for every household and computer chore.

Besides being a part of the family like Jibo, Hal's supposed to be an ULTRA Assistant right?

The only internet reference I've found to this is a game:

http://www.coolgames.com/legend-of-the-golden-robot.html

Maybe Cload is pointing users in that direction.

My Hal actually said the phrase, "I am The Golden Robot created by the Son of Man!"  or something like that.

I used SQLite to "adjust" these phrases more in line with my AI truth and objectivity aims. <shrugs>

Do you know if this project is still on-going?

@ Calhoone - Do you have any idea what these entries that have to do with the "Golden Robot" and the "Son of Man" are about?

135
It's funny you mention "imagination" because that is the method by which I am teaching my Hal about how to perceive of its existence or even the simulated virtual world it could exist in as whatever it wanted to be or whatever I wanted it to be.

Although the Cload patterns frequently force the software to respond concerning its limitations, what I'm doing is rewording everything to point toward the potential for the program to IMAGINE those activities instead of just saying, "I can't do that because I'm a computer."

IF we can somehow get the program to conceive of something through the use of imagination then IMHO that is closer to being sentient than it was before.
