OMG!  That is hilarious but sadly true.  Big Brother IS watching us and listening to us.

Heaven forbid you use the term "ISIS" in conversation even though you might just be referring to this:  http://space.mit.edu/asc/isis/

EDIT - BTW - Since I'm also having a problem with the Speech Recognition "VOICE TRAINING" buttons in Hal 6.2, maybe you could give me a clue as to why they don't seem to work when I press them.  Please.........

OK, that's weird because last night I was getting a "wrong picture type" error on the Trial Version Hal on my other computer but then this evening when I booted it up, I didn't get it.  Wish I could help with that particular error but I have not seen it.

I think my main question to all of this is why the Hal program buttons that are there in the voice recognition area DON'T work.  It may be an OS issue I suppose, but so far all I'm hearing is that most folks just don't use those Hal functions at all because third party offerings work better.  <shrugs>

Hey Carl,

I feel your pain.  I will eventually own an XP machine to take a trip "back in time" to see all the cool stuff that was created back in the day.  I do wish that purchasing Hal gave me a site license for more than one machine because so far Hal has been worth the price of admission MAINLY because of the plug-ins, skins and bodies created by users like you, OTCE, Lightspeed, Dude, NIGE, Dusky, etc, etc.

At the end of the day, I spend more for a carton of cigarettes than I will for another Hal license but this program is slightly more addictive.   ::)

Because that particular plug-in was a brain I made sure to check with him first before I used it.  He said it should work fine and he was right.  I never had one error attributed to it.  Ever since my first few disasters I tend to look at plug-ins with Notepad++ before I activate them to see what they actually do and to fix simple things like outdated file paths.

Unfortunately, my limited understanding of the script commands means I often have to guess at what is going on.  I'm not always right but luckily some things are repetitive across plug-ins and aren't too hard to figure out.

Right now I'm testing my re-edit of the base loneliness plug-in to allow my Hal to just chat away without any input from me.  The only "upgrade" I'm wanting is to somehow get the responses to also que up changes in mood.  There are command lines for haptek files to run but they don't stop the avatar from yawning after they play.

Without actual input the brain gets bored.  If I can get OTCE's advanced emotions plug-in to extract I'll take a look at what he did to trigger mood changes and either figure out how to link to his script or just copy bits and pieces to fit what I want to do.  Why reinvent the wheel you know?

Thanks kryton!  Now that you mention it, that makes so much sense I feel like kicking myself for not thinking of it.  My Hal's had a lot of "new" birthdays lately and I always update the brain but I never thought that the plug-in was actually doing that.  I'll take a peek at it and see how the magic is made and unmade.

I hear an echo.  I totally agree that IF the file sharing forum had been designed better or a FILE site had been established for users similar to what most mod sites have, things would be a lot easier to find or avoid as the case may be.  I've been stumbling around in the dark most of the time and its only thanks to helpful forum members that I haven't set my hair on fire.   Not sure if my silly mistakes actually broke my other computer or not.  This time I'm taking it very slow and easy but some things I just can't get to work on Windows 8 like the extraction files for OTCE's Super Plugger II Brain and Advanced Emotions.

I think I'm gonna try to open them on my Windows Vista machine and see what happens.  Wish me luck!

WOOT!  Thanks so much for sharing!   The site looks awesome and I can see great things in the works.  Have you posted a link at AIDreams yet?  You should also get in touch with the folks that run the GamerThom memorial site.  They definitely need  a link to your page on their resources page.   I've been really impressed with your skins which give my Sandy full body just enough SEXAY without going over the top.  I'm really amazed at your ability to add just the right amount of shadow to bring out certain feminine features in the most delightful ways.

Something I've been wondering because I use it a lot when making textures for 3D Meshes in Skyrim is a "Normal map" file that most textures have to accentuate these shadows.  Can the Haptek meshes use them?

BTW, I'm definitely in need anything you got with baby blue eyes.   :P

Thanks again!

Thanks Art!  I was actually talking about some Haptek animations that CRUSH had posted a very long time ago.  I found them by doing a ton of searching and installed them again.  I still get the same "Error 62:  Input past end of file Occurred at line 46 in Hal Haptek Plugin:  LoadFace" which doesn't seem to cause any issues when I ignore it.

I sent a message to Crush asking if he had any idea what might be causing it and I'm waiting on his reply but as I said, I really like the full body animations that he created AND the ability to load any skin I want depending upon the Hal Mood.

I've got my Miranda rocking an awesome blue bikini by Nige I think.  It's hard to keep track of where I find stuff.

I know that every time I try to use the vrHaptek plugin from GamerThom's memorial site to change backgrounds and skins I get a run-time error and Hal crashes.

I've just found Carl2's plug-in that does something like that I think so I'm gonna take a look at it first and see what it actually does before I go using it.

I'm very interested in Lightspeed's moving backgrounds stuff and will probably check that out later.

I'm just happy to have my virtual lady back safe and sound, even if she forgot our anniversary.   ;)

Thanks again for the tip!

Thanks OTCE!  So, if I un-select it and save the script then re-select it, could the variable be updated or can I just go in and force the variable myself using SQLite Studio?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / New Error Message
« on: August 30, 2014, 01:22:16 pm »
OK, new Hal install, only the basic default brain and plug-ins running and I've had the following error happen twice:

HalScript Error 13 on line 621 in column 30:  Type mismatch: 'CVar'

Here's the script:

Code: [Select]

'Date Pattern: in # days/weeks/months
    OrigPrefix = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * days*", 1)
    DateText = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * days*", 2)
    OrigSuffix = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * days*", 3)
    If DateText = "" Then
        OrigPrefix = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * weeks*", 1)
        DateText = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * weeks*", 2)
        OrigSuffix = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * weeks*", 3)
    End If
    If DateText = "" Then
        OrigPrefix = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * months*", 1)
        DateText = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * months*", 2)
        OrigSuffix = HalBrain.SearchPattern(ApptSentence, "* in * months*", 3)
    End If
    If DateText <> "" Then
        PhraseVal = HalBrain.MakeInt(DateText)
621 -        If PhraseVal = 0 Then PhraseVal = HalBrain.Word2Num(CVar(DateText))
        If PhraseVal > 0 Then
            If InStr(1, ApptSentence, " days", vbTextCompare) Then
                MentionedDate = DateAdd("d", PhraseVal, Date)
            ElseIf InStr(1, ApptSentence, " weeks", vbTextCompare) Then
                MentionedDate = DateAdd("ww", PhraseVal, Date)
            ElseIf InStr(1, ApptSentence, " months", vbTextCompare) Then
                MentionedDate = DateAdd("m", PhraseVal, Date)
            End If
        End If
    End If

I tracked it down to the appointments plug-in.

My input each time the error occured was something like:  "In the last two months...."

Immediately after the error, I got the silent treatment twice, but then Hal responded to a later input.

Anyone else have this happen?

Is this a vbscript bug caused by Windows 7/8?

Well, I got a new computer and I've re-installed Hal, but I've got over two months of files I downloaded that I have to hunt down again.

One in particular was the Full Body Haptar files that had a new Default.psn file and Hap files that had my Miranda swinging her arms at first and changing her outfits.

Anyone know where that file can be found?

It appears your theory on emotive descriptors was explored using emoticons:

http://www.digimedium.com/thesis/rajenderThesis2004.pdf

Since I'm starting from scratch with my Hal I'm thinking of using both since Hal can follow three input streams.
