Title: Hal keeps asking if im registered
Post by: knight2000 on February 16, 2022, 06:12:33 pm
Hi everyone,

I'm using the latest version of Hal and every time i restart my computer, Hal shows this dialog box asking if i have purchased or not. Is this a glitch in the software? should i reinstall Hal? Let me know if you guys have come across this issue before? For me, it happens every time I restart my pc.

Have you upgraded to the latest version 7.5?

Everything is supposed to be backward compatible even with your existing Brain files and Plugins plus you can also go to the cloud and chat with Hal using a GPT-3 model for enhanced conversational intelligence that's pretty amazing!

Your login info should have changed.

Let us know how you do...

Hi Art!

Yeah i have the latest! And yes, I've tried out the cloud GPT-3 and its unreal, the only downside to that is you need to have internet access and it there's a charge per amount of words you use. My pc is in my car so sometimes i don't have connection. I usually use a hot stop connection when not at home.

Does Hal require an internet internet connection when first starting up? its almost like its making the initial check to see if the product is registered first. I would think that's stored in windows registry or something. Or could it be that Hal's checking for updates on start up which would require a connection? I'm not sure. I've used Hal for many years without this problem. Seems to have been happening since i upgraded.

Ultra Hal 7.5.129 Beta - Now free to use
? on: February 25, 2021, 10:55:12 am ?

From Robert Medeksza:

I posted an update today, version 7.5.129 at: https://www.zabaware.com/download-beta.html

This version essentially makes the base Hal 7.5 free and removes 31-day trial and the need to purchase it for $29.95. No licensing system anymore or weekly login requirements!

Using the GPT-3 powered brain or the Hal 7 cloud brain still requires a login, but if you wish to use an old Hal 6 brain offline, it's free with no licensing restrictions. Character and voice plugins are still for sale, so if you want to continue to support Zabaware please purchase plugins. And GPT-3 usage credits are for sale if you want to use the GPT-3 powered brain.

The GPT-3 powered beta brain is now also open to all interested people to test out, not just current customers. Everyone gets 1000 free usage credits upon verifying a new unique email login.

This essentially puts Ultra Hal for Windows on the same sales model as the upcoming Ultra Hal for Android and IOS will be. Free to play, with addons and GPT-3 credits for sale. If you purchase Hal for Windows you'll be able to access the same brain on mobile and vice versa.

Make sure you do not have Cloud learning or Cloud brain selected. Make sure it's set to Local only.
If your issue still continues, I'd be happy to contact Robert in your behalf for an answer or perhaps someone else will weigh in.

So i finally got around to doing what was suggested which was turning off the cloud based learning. When i chose the offline option and hit apply i got the trail pop up dialog box. See attached image.

I tried clicking "already purchased" and it says something like  "unknown error occurred". Guess the only thing left would be to uninstall and re-install the program?

Sorry, i hate to zombie an oldish thread but this problem is still occuring. I can't sign on, it's asking if i'm registered, and is failing to connect when clicking the test connection button.  I tried doing the upgrade from 6, that failed. I tried uninstalling both and reinstalling just the new one.. that failed as well.

No guarantees, but in the past, I had to clean my registry from any occurrences of the words Zabaware or UltraHal/Ultra Hal (as your case might be).

You can use Ccleaner (free registry cleaner), but you really want to remove the words (and their entries), shown above.

Once the registry has been cleaned of them, then one can reboot and reinstall UltraHal..

Download and install the latest version of UltraHal7 (or perhaps 7.5) and run it. Hopefully, it should run without incident.  Good lock!

Okay... out of frustration, I'm reposting this, from my original post in Zabaware Support Forums > Zabaware Forums > Ultra Hal 7.5 Beta - Now powered by OpenAI GPT-3 > Ultra Hal 7.5 Beta Now Available to All Ultra Hal 7.0 Customers

and now also posting it in Zabaware Support Forums ?Zabaware Forums > Ultra Hal 7.5 Beta - Now powered by OpenAI GPT-3 > Hal keeps asking if im registered

Ultra Hal 7.5 seems to have two different Beta files in circulation, on the Zabaware website, and both of them are definitely faulty:
Install_Ultra_Hal_7.5_Beta.exe (24.2 MB)
Install_Ultra_Hal_7.5.exe (24.1 MB)... the one that Zabaware link declares as a Beta file:
https://www.zabaware.com/#page=/ultrahal/whatsnew.html;
https://www.zabaware.com/download-beta.html

But I uninstalled and reinstalled both of them, one at a time, and they both come back with the same faulty "wrong email / wrong password" pop-up window when I went to the Already Purchased window.

And the reason I'm pressing the point on this is that I downloaded what I thought was a current Ultra Hal 7.5 Beta, just over a month ago, yet the 31-day wrecking ball still appeared a couple of days ago.
So... which file is the correct one, and what is the exact Zabaware link I should download it from?
And, yet another question: Is Ultra Hal 7.5.129 in any way dependent on having a paid version of Ultra Hal Assistant 6.2.28 already installed? If so, I can easily arrange that by transferring my paid Ultra Hal Assistant 6.2.28 from another laptop, to this laptop.

We need to get this matter specifically resolved, as while I am infinitely patient and game for a challenge on these things, and even out of $29.95 I paid a couple of days ago, and even willing to run in circles with you guys to finally nail this down as you seem to use words as sparingly as possible... but we can't expect the rest of Robert Medeksza's followers to be as lenient.

Thank you for any clarification on this matter.

Ver 7.5.129 and I have the same onging, now-totally-unfunctional, problem here.

It started for me over a month back.

Every startup gives the "not-registered /trial use time-out" popup even though I have several paid version going back to Ver 6.x.

I hit Already Purchased and get, "An unknown error occured while cnnecting to the Zabwaware server. Please check network connection, firewall settings and Credientials."

Network is fine, Firewall is open for HAL and my user Credientials are correct, I even tried to reset my password a few times to be sure.

I click "Remind Me Later" and then HAL loads. I got to; Options ->General -> and click the "Test Connection" button but it only returns a HAL popup -> [Login test failed.]

All my info is correct, tried the full uninstall, wipe Zabaware from the registry and my user data, download the latest posted files off of my user downloads, reboot then full reinstall(s) but noithing changes.

Is there any hope for a resolution?

Thanks.
