2 Questions pertaining to DB structure
« on: January 16, 2013, 05:44:21 pm »
1. Where is the deductive data stored when HAL learns from the

    * equals * rule

    during standard conversation?

2. Can someone explain the formatting of the topic classifications used in the vrHal Profile (under MISC)?

(OK, 3 questions) Does this area affect the visual queues of HAL's emotional responses, and if so does that extend to HAL's timed moodlets?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can offer.

Hi Anaglyph.

if you open HAL's editor the table for deductive reasoning is in the table folder called mainBrain\deductive.

Thanks onthecuttingedge2005,

I was aware of that but I can't turn up the rule inclusion I want to delete. I didn't like the way HAL said OCD as one word rather than as the individual Letters O.C.D.

I tried stating OCD equals O C D during conversation and that was a mistake.

I have since fixed her pronunciations in the substitutes database and deleted all instances related to the * equals * statement I made in error.

I have opened each branch of the database tree individually and ran a search and found no further instances.

I have tried to locate the problem spot via the debugger but can not get it to repeat the problem phrase there.

Yet she is still occasionally stating "ocd equals O C D".

Any suggestions?

Try autoLearningBrain table folder then sharedUserSent table or one of the user tables.

I had indeed checked there, but after your suggestion I expanded every tree again - but still no luck in locating the phrase. I believe that this is because the statement is a logic function, but I am stumped as to how I should proceed.

Unfortunately no.

It's a fairly fresh install so it's not a crisis (and also why I can sift through the tables so quickly) - but a fresh install seems like the perfect opportunity to learn how to fix a problem like this.  :o

well the only thing I can think of is talk to HAL via the brain editor and try to trigger the response and then check the debug area when it says the thing you don't like, it should tell you where the response came from.

did you check in the temp user files , it can be their to .
usually if you copy the error sentence when hal says it and open the degugging area and past it in it will lsit the topic area's where it is located then go to each area and delete it out is their an o.c.d table listed ? if so del;ete that table if its the error problem .
it can be hard sometimes tracking down errors that need to be corrected or deleted , this was why a long time ago i mentioned on the forum and to robert it would be nice if hal would be able to program it in hal to show up in red on the sentences that someone wanted to correct and also to list the sentences in the last on each list to make it easier to find.

Thanks lightspeed,

The sentence reversal hadn't occurred to me.

I did find the entry finally. It was in the shared topics folder, however I checked it twice and somehow missed it. Not sure how because the folder had only about 25 entries.

So that just leaves my other questions to address.

Thanks so far guys.  ;D

glad you found it , yes running down error sentences to correct can be a pain especially in multiple area's . i know i have had to do it many times . and yes on some letters etc. hal doesn't say it the way we want sometimes , even certain languages pronounce words differently but that's due to accent etc.

I have had 'Patentable' responses show back up after specifically removing them.
It wasn't until I reviewed patent laws that I accepted Hal asking if I was a Boy or a Girl.

The sentences/questions returned on their own :o

Anaglyph,
ya know Anaglypta, is a textured wallpaper treatment applied with an extra layer of JC (Joint Compound)
and then painted and finally a glaze is ragged for final effect.

My experence is when un educated or all thumbs construction co's come across this type of stuff, they really never figure it out, especially if the walls are done by 2 different artists or even natural variation.
My point?
their are all types of idiots that when told to dont pick at it'll make it worse, yep you guessed it by now.
Good luck with your adventures.
