i had a question about what format to submit 3d charitors in. the main 3d package i use is blender3d which i know is compatable with orge but i was not sure what file type you are useing for the program. maybe what you might want to do, is talk to the people in the blender 3d community ( www.blender3d.org ) and see if they could run a contest for a small prise to see who can make the best 3d animated charitors. you might want to create a list of specifications such as what the 3d skeleton must do for the morph tech that you have in the app, also what type of charictors, and maybe a free-for-all charictor.

if you look them up i am sure that you will find tons of top level animators that would love to win a cool title or prize in a contest.
that way it could cut down your modelling and production cost.  also i would maybe mention something to them about creating a python plugin (as that is blender internal scripting language) which can edit the 3d files natively.

i thought this would be a good food for thought and help save you some money.

is there any place on the website that i can purchase the linux server version for the zabraware server? i would love to have something like this. how much would it cost? if it is beta when would be a scheduled release? also what linux distro is it targeted for?

for the kinect controller,  you might want to use the orge3d lib in conjunction with it. if you like i  i can post links on a separate forum on this site from my own research i have done. that way it can give people a chance to experiment with it.

General Discussion / Re: Kinect Hacking party

ya you should see what MIT is doing with the kinect, linux and robots! its pretty awesome stuff. like minorityreport desktops. i have the kinect hooked up to my ubuntu system, but still hunting for the source code as it is still alpha as of yet. but very very promising. there is this one video a person uses his kinect on ubuntu to teach it object / facial recognition.

something that would be really cool with the new opensource interface is a plugin that will alow you to use it with the Xbox kinect. i actualy bought one and have it working on ubuntu.

i dont know if this is the right place to ask, but is there any future plans for the HalAI for
using MySQL for the learn / brain files? i have noticed on my laptop win version that after a while
the current platform for the database starts to lag and slow down.
i think mysql or sqlite would be a good work around. just food for thought.
the next trick is to get it working with Apache UIMA - (watsons - source sode)

General Discussion / mysql and ultra hal database
« on: January 02, 2011, 02:50:21 pm »
hello, i had a question. does anyone know where hal stores the database file for all the stuff it learns? such as any texts you have it read? i was wondering if any one knew what the template was for how it saves or catagorises its data base, and if you can set it up to use MySQL as where it stores that information?

also if it uses the alice plugin brain, will it transmit all that information directly to the chatterbot, and should i use that to create the database with instead? i am wanting to input text files for it to learn as a basis for it's basic knowledge. another thing i was thinking was if i could find the template and of hte ultra hal learning files i can create a mysql db from the way they have it layed out.

any suggestions would be helpful.

my plan was to have a dedicated VM with scientific linux that has a alice chatterbot as the main brain which the ultra hal software plugs into as the client end.

thanks

General Discussion / Re: ultra Hal + scientific linux VM

FYI... i was thinking this would be the best way to put the brains with the best hard ware (cpu / memory) and the eye candy part can sit on the desktop computers...

General Discussion / ultra Hal + scientific linux VM
« on: January 01, 2011, 06:51:24 pm »
hello,

i have been trying to plan out the best solution for setting up my house / home network for an AI assistant to access all my computers. i have noticed that there was a post on the site about using the windows scripting agent to convert the hal brain to other languages such as python. i was thinking it would be cool to create a vm which can be set on a server and either use a hal brain converted to python and integrated with the Alice bot or something simular and then use the ultra hal front end to recieve the connection from the server.
i was also thinking that maybe there is a way to integrate also openAI under linux to work with this as well.

i figured that by creating a VM it can be put on a esxi bare metal install, and it would be hardware independent and can be backed up and moved around easily.

any thoughts?

yes i had a simular question about this. i was wanting my hal to access all my computers on my internal network, and have the central brain on a fileshare or special server. i have read somewhere on this site that you can convert the brain file from VBscript to other scripts. the one i am wanting to convert it to is python as that is the laguage i know how to use and with works on windows mac and linux.

by the way, has anyone tried to use the opensource program "festival" for voice recoginition?

General Discussion / face and image recognition for ultra hal
« on: January 01, 2011, 01:56:19 am »
hello,
i was wondering if there was any plans to add image recognition to ultra hal. either as a plugin or an update in future programs. it would be nice if hal could scan an image and find similar ones on Google. also it would be cool if hal could see your picture from a web cam and recognize you as the user. and if it is a different person, it could switch the user profile. just some food for thought. aside from that it would be cool to add python functionality as a plugin and also perl.

hello, is there any howto documents about converting a brain from vbscrip to another one? and will it still work with ultra hal? i was thinking about converting it to python as that is the language i am most familiar with.
