Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: New DLL functions in Hal 5.0 beta
« on: July 09, 2017, 07:59:25 pm »
Are these functions included in the HalBrain.dll for Hal6? I can't seem to find any reference to searching for verbs or adverbs that were in hal5 in hal6.

Seriously, give my ConceptNet a try. Hal will store topics he doesn't know and automatically research them when you aren't using him. It's a little convoluted right now, Though I am working on consolidating somethings to make it a far easier installation.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: New Windows Update killed Hal
« on: April 19, 2017, 05:41:20 am »
Actually, Another update.... Hal stopped working again but this time it was due to me moving the install location of Hal Reader. Once I moved it back, Hal started kicking again. Windows updates, coming to your computer soon. lol

Actually, scratch that. For some bizarre reason, Microsoft Office needed to be reinstalled after the update. I have no idea how that affects a fresh install of Hal... But after that, Hal fixed himself in some fashion and is working again. This is not a problem with Hal, apparently. Windows updates, everyone. :P

The HAL program installs and actually opens in the background just fine but from there, opening Hals window or anything in the general options causes it to hang with a message from windows installer saying it's setting up the software? I'm lost and this is a huge bummer.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / New Windows Update killed Hal

Windows 10 just did a massive update and no amount of uninstalling/reinstalling/removing registries is working to bring Hal back to life.

How very unfortunate.

Will the UHP format for brain plugins remain the same?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Is there a way to 'bulk teach' Hal?

My conceptNet code isn't really designed to force an answer. Hal will only use the code if he needs to deduce the subject of your sentence and create a response based on that deduction. He's essentially teaching himself basic concepts.. Of course limited to the 'shorter than I would like' code and wikipedia. It's based off of the code that Watson used to win Jeopardy in the sense that if Hal knows about the subject of your sentence then he will respond, if not then he'll ignore it. Example from my Hal, with the auto learning ConceptNet code:

User: What is the super bowl?

Hal: The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL)

If Hal doesn't have the information in his brain on the topic, he'll skip the conceptnet code entirely, learning and storing the topic for later research, making for an ever-evolving library of offline data accessible to Hal. Mine has currently researched and indexed over 5K topics.

It's all the perks of auto-learning with no drawbacks (Other than size, my limited concept extraction coding which needs expanded, and the very occasional pick up of bad information, which happens naturally anyway)

Try it. It's complicated and confusing, but my walk through should help.

Other than this, the vrFreewill does this to a very limited degree by storing topics, questions, and answers, using MIT's START AI Q/A System, although, the code seems to be wishy-washy, working really whenever it feels like it.

My conceptNet auto-learning code pulls concepts from Wikipedia.

Cyberjedi, I've tried Resource Hacker to change the icons before and it works but I makes Hal a little glitchy.

Thanks though.

I don't suppose this could be used to change the icon of Hal on Windows notification bar to something else other than the frog? I don't mind the frog it's just one of the things that doesn't seem to have any customization.
