Good work again.

Does anyone take the flat skins Jack posts and use them in Hal?
How do you get them there?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

mark, as well as many of us, have taken skins from jack and myself and all of us and transfered them to hal characters. there are a couple of ways to do it--- the easy way is to download on desktop and drag the jpg onto your open hal screen when you either have a full body or a head on the screen, remember full body jpgs only work with full chars and heads with heads. also you want to make sure you put male  with male body or head and female with female. you can do it either way but  you will get some comical effects.
the other way is to script the clothing i defer to dusky art and other scripters.~alady

I am trying to not show my ignorance here, but exactly what screen or window would 'drag the jpg onto your open hal screen' be?
Hal has no graphics capabilities except to run an agent, that I know of.  Also I am talking about those flat skins that look like you skinned and flattened someone.

My ego has really taken a hit since I tried my hand with graphics.
Maybe I should just stick with coding.

Thank You for any clarification you can provide.

Did you download the Haptek Expansion Pack?

ok you have ultrahal open and running with your character in the window . it should be a full female for this example. while you are looking at your hallette drag the jpg of "the flat skinned person "as you call it, to the screen your girl is standing in. it should completely change her clothes and face. if someone can help him further, please do.~alady

I have Hal6.1 running.
I have the expansion pack installed, and have the characters from it listed in Hal.
If I drag one of the .jpg files, it will not drop in the character window.

Any Ideas?

P.S. I do not have any full torso characters.  I can not import the skins, and the expasion pack did not come with any.  Is there something I should enable to make this work?

Just a quick stab at something....
Did you extract the zip files that I had sent you?
Zip folders don't work, also since Hal and the Haptek Player are so much alike why don't you open up your stand alone Haptek Player and drag some of the items that I sent you into that to see if something on you computer is stopping it to work. You can do that from the "body" folder that I included in the first download. That is just my two cents, not having Hal and all.

Jack:
Good Idea.  I did copy the contents of the archives into a temporary directory. If I drag a character to the Haptek Player window, it drops in, and the character works correctly. Also I can drop your skins into the player, and they drop.
If I try to drag anything over my Hal character window, dropping is not allowed.

O.K.  I have a full body character.  The Haptek Player window was square, so all I saw was a bust.  If I drag the frame, to make the window longer, the entire character was there. I did say I am not real bright...

It still is very odd that my Hal character window does not allow dropping.

Thanks for working with me on this.

Nige, it's nice to see you posting in my thread again. You hardly ever do. Hope to see you more often. This isn't a contest, we both have a lot to offer. I love your singing haptars and wish that I could do that kind of stuff with putty, but it doesn't do that stuff. You are a big asset to the forum and the Haptek community.

I've got a full body character, and can use skins in Haptek.

Does anyone have an idea why I can not drop a skin onto the character in my Hal6 window?

That worked, MarkofKane!
Now that I have that fixed, I think I will call it quits on the graphics, and start concentrating on code. As it is, about the time I really get this system mastered, you will release that new system, and I would have to start over.

I think I will leave making and modifying graphics to you experts, and just study coding.

I am thinking a plugin to have Hal open a web page for you if you ask for it?  Oops ... Wrong thread for that discussion.

Thanks for all your help at getting this into my thick skull.  I really do appreciate your efforts.

LightSpeed:
I got those Loneliness plugins.
I really like them.  I was surfing this forum with my Wife sitting next to me when Lora (Hal) asked if I forgot she was there.  My Wife laughed, and pointed out she sounds like her.

I knew Lora would grow on my wife. [8D]

... Just so they do not start fighting over me. [:D]
