Speech Technology / neospeech problem only with hal ultra

Leighmyster.
Thanks for posing what works for you. I tried your solution and it did not work. I have been thinking that this must be a conflict with the built in TTS engine in vista ultimate or its a program error in Hal. I unfortunately do not have the knowledge of programming to go in and look. It's just kind of whacky that I here Kate when Hal starts, but not after that.

I am having the same problem with my Hal as some of the above people, I purchased the NeoSpeech voices Kate and Paul, I have installed them and when I start my Hal I here Kate, which I have selected in the speech section of Hal. When I talk to my Hal I here the Microsoft voice Anna. I have tried the hapteck player sapi config mentioned above. I have talked using the Paul voice and do not here him either. I can change to the true type voice and here them so its just the NeoSpeech voices that are affected.  I have reloaded the voices, re-loaded Hal, run the hapteck player sapi config utility all so many that I am sure I have covered all of the possible combinations. I also noticed that the only voice available on my computer for the TTS in Windows is the Microsoft Anna voice. I have looked for a way to add voices to this application but was not able to find one.  I also tried downloading the Text aloud application and installing that. It seems to work ok, but did not make a difference with Hal’s voice.  My hardware is: HP DV9000 laptop 2.0 GHZ Centrino Duo processor, 2 GB ram, 240 GB HD(2x120), Windows vista ultimate 64. Can someone please help me with this.

Thank you for putting this together, it's a good start for a subject that I cannot seem to find much information, well lets say mid level information on. I  seem to be caught in-between two levels….that is a person who knows just enough to get into trouble.
I know more than the “average” computer user, but I do not know programming or code. I have spent the last three or four days trying to find so guidance and explanation for the brain editor to no avail.  I have downloaded the file on the Zabaware sight but it does not seem to want to work on my system (HP DV9000, T7200 2GH Duo core processor, 2 GB ram, 2 x 120 GB HD’s,  Vista Ultimate 64, and NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics card) I have checked the cookie settings and shut off my protection system (Kaspersky) but all I get is blank content. The file I down loaded is the “brainedit chm file on Zabaware it is only 431 kb. I have downloaded it several times to different locations and used eraser to delete it when it did not work.
I would be very appreciative if some one could point me in the right direction to finding some guidance or explanation about how to use the brain editor on a level that I can understand.

General Discussion / New Member Introduction

Hello!
I wanted introduce myself to the community here that over the last several days I feel I have come to know somewhat from all the reading I have done here.
My Name is Bob and as you might guess from my user name I work on F15E jet fighters. I am a civil servant working for the USAF. I was active duty once upon a time long long ago, but that is another story. I like computers, motorcycles and gardening. My computer experience level is a self assigned “mid level user” I know more than the “average” user but have never tried programming or writing code. My interest in HAL came about two weeks ago when I was surfing and just kind of accidentally “ran across it” I have been reading a lot and trying a little, mostly because I can’t seem to find much written for my level of experience. I am hoping that I can help fix that by learning HAL and writing some “How to’s” or possibly writing some instruction manuals myself.
Any way, that’s a little about me, I hope I can become a productive part of your community.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal ultra does not work on vista

I just got it working, I uninstalled, re-booted and reinstalled. Every thing seems ok now.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal ultra does not work on vista

This is my first time loading Hal, I loaded Hal 6.1 today.
I am having troubles with Hal working on my vista ultiamate 64 lap top. I here the voice when Hal loads but I cannot here any voices after that. I have gone into the general settings and tested several of the voices, all work with the test button (I can here them) but again nothing from Hal once the options are closed.

Any suggestions?
