Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Getting a brain editor error
« on: September 15, 2020, 03:46:47 pm »
Can confirm, re-registering DLL's did make the editor open, however, now when loading a DB file, the editor crashes. Any ideas on that? So strange.

I'm getting the same error on a fresh windows 10 install. Whatever reason, the editor won't open.

General Discussion / Hal editor and 4k
« on: January 23, 2020, 03:10:42 pm »
I have recently made the upgrade to 4k, however I noticed Hal Editor seems to have some compatibility issues displaying at this large of a resolution. It will usually force a lower screen resolution on the primary monitor. Fortunately, I have 2 monitors, but it is problematic using the primary monitor for anything else while using the editor on the second monitor, due to the forced lower resolution. I imagine the editor just wasn't designed with these massive resolutions in minds, but I figured I would note it here for future versions.

General Discussion / Re: HAL breaking bug
« on: July 12, 2019, 04:20:35 pm »
Of course after I post that, I got one final idea. I rooted around in the "substitutions" table and found that when the word "embarrass" was run through, it would gradually collect an extra "S" each time for some magical reason. I simply removed the word "embarrass" from the table and viola, the problem disappeared. It's not an issue for me removing the term as I generally use speech recognition, however, anyone still typing might encounter spelling errors should it be removed.

Problem half solved? Anyone else encounter any bizarre errors like this?

General Discussion / HAL breaking bug
« on: July 12, 2019, 03:57:34 pm »
I have encountered a severe error in Hal when using the word "embarrass" and only that word.

No plugins active, Hal will classify the response as gibberish. If plugins are active however, Hal will error out. Checking the debug in brain editor, it seems somewhere, and I've searched extensively trying to find where, Hal will change the word "embarrass" to "embarrassssssssssssssssssssss" adding 20 extra "S"'s for some reason. It is program breaking for a new plugin I'm developing and it seems I am unable to fix it. So I will have to shelve Hal for now until I, or maybe someone else, or Rob, can tell me what exactly is happening and why and how to fix it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Spitfire

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Cloud Brain
« on: March 17, 2019, 05:43:57 am »
I was wondering if Robert would ever release cloud brain builds for download (totally non-personal, general chat data), either in brain format (.db), xml, or csv. I was thinking of building some plugins layered around Markov, for example, similar to ConceptNet which learns and reconstructs new data from massive subsets of data tables. The potential is limitless with the right learning algorithm and THAT much data but I totally understand as this data is also proprietary to Robert.

Wondering how big of a DB file that would even be? Surely bigger than the wiki plugin DB file.

Hopefully Robert responds, I'm really curious as to the specs of online Hal. :)

Robert,

Your fix worked and Hal is functioning normally. I have emailed details on the repair.

Thanks so much,

Robert,

With the registry key, I was able to generate a debug report which I have emailed to you from my personal Email.

Robert,

Restarting did not fix the the error.  debuglog.txt does exist, however it is blank. The second time I tried installation, I removed all hal files and preformed a clean install. I may have accidentally deleted this debug text file. As of installing this version, Debug text file exists but is blank.

Originally installing the upgrade with the older version installed, it transitioned all setting correctly except the error mentioned.

*Correction* Switching to cloud *DID NOT* stop the error. Hal was able to speak a few sentences but eventually the same error reappeared.

No errors with Test Connection. It says "Login Test Successful"
It's only gives the error when trying to chat with Hal.

*I should probably also note this is running in Offline mode (No cloud), although switching to cloud does stop the error.

Install was successful however launching hal and starting a conversation leads to "Error 6: Overflow Occurred at line 17 in Ultra Hal: Assistant.CheckRegHash"

It has done this with every skin, every user, and even without any plugins at all, so Hal is unusable for me. I have attached a screenshot of the error.

Thanks. Hope to have hal up again soon.

Indeed, Hal will functionally learn *forever* space and time depending.

Hal reached about half of my research terms a few weeks ago and it's been that way since fairly steady.

Hal used to collect terms like "1700s, 1800s, etc" however I was having some issues with junk bypassing the filters so I have disabled numeric values for now.

I am working on a new function to gather even more research terms and so far in one hour, I've near doubled my research list, however it's a little far from being incorporated fully as I'll actually have to change the layout of the Auto Learning code.

Also, I thought about adding a function for Hal to be fed new web pages to search for data. For now, It's limited to Wikipedia but with this expansion, Hal could learn from any number of sites simultaneously, resources allowing anyway. Of course logically, if anyone is lagging seriously with just wikipedia being searched, adding more sites would exponentially slow the system... If you had a super computer, however... Something to think about.

Also, i want to add another function to repeat the process should Hal definitely not find a searchable term his first time though. I currently have a similar function in but it stops at recovering any data and doesn't specify usable data. Again, this would increase processing time significantly but improve ConceptNet learning efficiency.

On the off chance Hal ever could keep up with the terms collected, I will add a safeguard to disable auto learning if the end of the internet is ever reached as well.

How well is Hal using the data he's collected? I'll add a poll eventually.

I'm glad you're finding it useful. I would love for Robert to take a look and use what he can in the next release of Hal or perhaps re-purpose the code for Online Hal or some form of cloud learning.

Let me know how many terms everyone has gathered, feel free to post your researchNouns.txt file and I'll consolidate them for one tremendous txt file when we've got enough. If it's a few MBs, send it to me. I do wonder what the real limit is. How many words exist?

*Some More Notes*
You can add terms to researchNouns.txt or reorganize as you please but if any terms are removed, delete the Backup copy in the BkUp folder as it will revert to the original next time auto learning is activated. Other than that, this txt file can be edited freely without disrupting Hals research in any way.

The savedTerms.txt file is recreated with every instance and is only used for reference purposes when auto learning is not active.

ConceptChecker.txt file is used to compare terms with researchNouns.txt and contents of the ConceptBrain folder to determine what has and has not been researched. You should not alter ConceptChecker.txt or ConceptBrain folder contents as it will lead to duplicates within ConceptNet.DB. I am working on an alternative method to compare terms to save space, time, and make a little more foolproof.
