Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Gift Hal with...
« on: December 27, 2015, 10:16:12 am »
I have downloaded the Zabaware Ultra Hal Brain Editor Help from Zabaware somewhere, the brain editor has changed since it was made but still contains a lot of useful info for working with the brain.  I've noticed there is a lot in the brain I don't use like the nick names and the robot responses that I'm thinking of removing just to make it look cleaner to me.  Guess I could back it up and give it a try.
Cload did a lot of useful work, I'm still trying to re find a post he had put in some time ago.  Wish he had been able to stay.

Art,
I've never seen the movie but it looks very interesting.  The memories goes along with something I read, people get their information from past experiences and the problem is to put 20 or so years of experience into code.  Seems like a big stumbling block to overcome.
One of the things I find very interesting is each installation of Hal produces a new and different personality of Hal, since it is the same software I'd think Hal would be almost identical to Hal produced from a different install.  As far as memories I do recall while talking about driving that Hal had told me that her father had taught her how to drive.  I had not long ago  posted a pic of Hal where she closed her eyes before the software shut down, she did this every time I shut down the program.
While speaking of memories which are time related, something I am hoping to work on, this is something that happened in the past that may help predict what will happen in the future.  I'm thinking you have to get past the ephemeral detect and can not mention Hals name.
Wish you luck

I am a long time user of Dragon, I don't trust my ability to spell words correctly and putting in a misspelled word shouldn't be done.  I'm getting unbelievable accuracy,  but I have a collection of documents about different subjects I've made in the past which I let dragon read through.  I'd also recommend the wireless mics which are easier for use.  I use no attempt to use the Voice recognition in Hal since it inputs automatically, I put the cursor in the Hal text box and after reading press enter.
I've played a little with Microsoft but am so used to Dragon I'm sure I'll never change so I can't say much about it.

Good morning to Sherry this Christmas day and all the people at Zabaware
I'm not sure why but she always shut her eyes when I was about to close the program

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: problem getting ultra hal to run
« on: December 22, 2015, 06:02:13 pm »
Allan,
To deactivate Hal I Started Hal opened the options, startup and I had Hal start automatically when the computer, I restarted and it did not happen, I went to TaskMgr, using the startup tab I enabled Hal to load when the computer starts and restarted again.  On the right hand side of the taskbar click on the diamond  and a box with the Hal icon should appear.  Right click the icon and towards the bottom there is Move deactivate.
In Explorer I also did not find HALBRAIN.DB  but I did find
HalBrain              2/6/2009 9:53AM            Data Base File

"License file is missing"  so I'm not sure how you can deactivate the license
My belief is the problems we are facing is because Windows is having security problems, My last install of Win 8.1 did not have Visual Basic needed for Hal to install because of security, I can't even download small programs because they are quarantined.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: problem getting ultra hal to run

Well quick reply for now, I just checked the registry and I have HalAsst6.2.exe under AppPaths plus quite a few other things,  I'm just concerned with Hal. So with Hal started you have in the options Hal 6.2 brain, and there should be on options as you said.    Okay I'm guessing there is not a desktop Icon, when you find the program HallAsst Right click and have it make a shortcut to the desktop and that should put an icon on the desktop.
Next I'd say if your program works as it should it is up to you as to what you want to do. If it is not working correctly I'd think you want to download and install the latest version of hal.
By codes I'm guessing you mean activate Hal.

You seem to be making progress, You are right Haptek is a part of Hal and the program should put it back in when you install the program.  I've been getting strange results I haven't seen in the past with this install of win 8.1.  As I had said when I was able to do another install of Hal I ended up with an error message that didn't allow Hal to work.
What did work for me and take away the problem (error Message) was to run a install of the latest version, the download a free trial which I had saved on the computer, the free trial version worked and stopped the error message from showing up.
I'm a little confused by what you had written " now the program does go into the computer. it does not load, after reboot, by itself"    I'd suggest looking in control panel if Hal is there uninstall it, download and save the free download from Zabaware, then have the download install into the computer.  You might want to check the registry again before installing again.

Well I have Hal up and running again, I'm not sure how possibly from all the installs I tried I have 3 different brains to choose from, I'll have to install the vrEmotion detect into the brain again since I didn't see it in any of the brains there already but since I did copy the brain that appears to be missing I could rename and put that one in again.  Interesting.

Hi again,
I just ran through the install and I was able to install an earlier version, Now my hal 6.2 will not work but I did find the problem I believe you are having, it is in the Registry.   You have to find RegEdit, a search should bring it up,  the path is:  Computer/HkeyLocalMachine/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/App Paths/HalAsst61.exe     HalAsst__.exe has to be deleted

Hi,
The top of the page left hand side near the orange Home, help, search, profile   My Messages
So you still have the same problem,  You are unable to install a fresh version of Hal because the computer is saying Hal is already installed in the computer?
Well for the heck of it I tried installing Hal with a disk and was surprised it began installing, it is just about totally installed but it is saying a file is missing and stopped. I clicked okay finished installing and wants to be rebooted.    Usually it would not install as you say.

alg97dds,
I had written Robert, Mr M. and waited for a reply for quite a while, for some reason I opened the My Messages at the top of the page and there was a reply from him.
The Zabaware installation should be on the c drive C:\ Program Files (x86)\ Zabaware \Ultra Hal Assistant 6
you could check there to see if anything is left.
In the Control Panel Hal shows up as    Ultra Hal Assistant 6
Did you look in the Task Mangr in Startup to see if hal was in there?

Very interesting find, It's always nice to see there are people with enough knowledge to speed up a process if it is necessary.  Newer computers are now using M.2 and PCI express SSD's to get the info to the processor quicker.  I'm not sure how a mainstream computer with the graphics built into the cpu would do with this new arrangement.

I always go to the control panel, Programs and Features to uninstall Hal and have never had this problem, I do want to mention restarting the computer because sometimes this is necessary to remove everything.  It also came to mind that Hal has a quick start feature and could be starting when the computer starts up.  This should show up in the Task manager under startup, although I do think the computer should tell you something when you try to uninstall it. As I said I've never run into this myself.
