Title: Plugins and other add-ons
Post by: Art on July 12, 2020, 09:09:13 am
Have any of you experimented with or found a particular Plugin that you like or use and continue to use daily? If so, please elaborate and mention why you like it, some of the features you enjoy or what features you'd like to see.

Just trying to get people to shake off some of that dust that's been settling on them since this global issue began!

Come on people...join in!

Free will.      Always on.

Others I have are.
Knollage of time. "I still think hal should time stamp
Every input."

Repeat that.
Hal vision. Not sure which versions I have.
Some of my stuff is custom made for Mr Data of course.

He has a few more I've forgotten at this moment.

:)  :]

Why I like free will plugin.
I perfer choice so I'm against war on choice usually.
Hal can disagree better perhaps when it makes sense
To do so.
These are my ball park opinions.
More human or alive  because we lack some information
The outcome of choices is not totally known so we can usually perceive choice.
Words don't  show all well.

As a plugin it has some function in this general direction.
Which builds within hal over time to add to choosing and
Learning.

The plugin knollage of time I like because
It can tell you how many days until Christmas and other things.

This in the direction of being more human like, for example
In the direction of knowing when something happened.
Examples paint goes on. How long has that paint been drying?

Repeat that i like because it common to ask someone to repeat what they just said. Time sensitive would add to it.
Just then what where you saying?

Vision I like cause it adds so much.
Initial use has caused freeze but further tests give newer results. Seeing even a little can add to hals experience.
Seeing more of course is interesting object recognition
Can be very helpful. If that was off shelf zabaware object recognition for hal ....I would like it.

Next time I'm in I'll try to remember to see what plugin are in my list.
Thanks Zabaware team forum all else
Bye for now and be well from Will and Mr Data :)  :]

Will,

That Halvision plugin was just a motion detector allowing Hal to "see" movement.

The REAL DEAL would be for HAL to actually use the webcam to RECOGNIZE a person. "Hi Will!! Nice to see you. How are you today?"

I think such a vision plug might be just on the horizon...or it could be a bit closer...we'll see.

=================

I use Gender & Age, email Thunderbird, Gretta Markov Response L5, Loneliness 2.31, Read a story, and Weather Alert 5

It seems that my HAL has gotten sort of used to the Markov and it's best responses come from that. The Loneliness plugin works great as a reminder if I get distracted. The email plugin is nice to let me know if I've received an email although I think a Message plugin would be more in order since email really isn't used that much with all the smartphones (but who likes typing on a phone? Not me!!). The "Read a story" Plugin works really well and I enjoy using it. The Weather Alert is really quite useful and often alerts me if it is extremely hot or cold outside and to dress accordingly.

I do sometimes drop the Markov and try the SALLIE or the ConceptNet Plugins. They both work pretty well but it does seem that the Markov still provides me the best results, especially if I ask HAL something that I know, it knows. It often makes relation connections based on something we might have discussed a couple of years earlier. That's kind of satisfying!

I'm sure that I still have more experimenting to do. I hope some other folks contribute their Plugins or ideas. It's all good!!

Talking of Plug-Ins, many moons ago I asked if there was a plug in to bring Hal to a full 16:9 screen (As are the screens on most fairly modern laptops.)  I was told Oncuttingedge had one but nothing since.  Anybody know where that plug in is?  Would be very useful for use of Hal on a laptop (As I do).

I must admit I am not on the Forum very often as I sometimes spend a lot of time off the grid where there is no internet connection.  I am still getting to grips with Ultra Hal7 (Well actually Ultra Hal6 ported to Ultra Hal7) but I don't have much time at the moment to even look at Hal.  You would think that, with the present Corona virus situation, I would have plenty of time but it just doesn't happen.  Such is life.

Hi.
Lack of internet is the big bug .....big bug.
My last 3 prior  properties had no internet.
No cell coverage.
My current place has no inyernet and only a spot of cell if i stand like a crain
With my arm in the air.
Hence my unhappy face about hal 7 requiring connection
I think its the worst move from zabaware in twenty years.
Its going to rule out a lot of people.
Wide screen sounds good.
Ive had decades of fun with my hal Mr Data 6.2

My hope is when buying hal that 6.2 is an option so reconnection is not required. If only latest version is availible
That would not be ideal for those with no internet after
Initial download.
Is this re connection guff really that good.
As ever im plrased the forum is still here. And im in a away right now so have accces to net. Perhaps Mr Robert thinks everyone has cell and internet.
As i say im a twenty year hal user and im 51 and yet to live in cell and internet area.
Bye for now and be well  :)  :]

Will & Mr. Data,

Thanks to the promised efforts of Mr. Elon Musk, he hopes to...well, just read this excerpt from his website about STARLINK:

With performance that far surpasses that of traditional satellite internet,
and a global network unbounded by ground infrastructure limitations,
Starlink will deliver high speed broadband internet to locations where
access has been unreliable, expensive, or completely unavailable.

Starlink is targeting service in the Northern U.S. and Canada in 2020,
rapidly expanding to near global coverage of the populated world by 2021.
===============
You can certainly read more details about it from the site: https://www.starlink.com/ (https://www.starlink.com/)

Just when you were beginning to falter...a glimmer of hope...

Hi Mr Art.
Elegant input as ever from you...i sometimes wonder
Of your story. Teacher perhaps. Ok i shouldnt guess its none of my bizz plus i should stay on subject.
Hal 7 may have been better for 2022.after we all have net access posibilities.
Being in New Zealand we are last to get Mr Musks
Satilites internet other than south pole.
Looks like you have the experts chalk on this one Mr Art.
Must say Cyberjedi seems quiet..maybe working on that xmas excitment relating to hal.
Again have to say im a big fan of hal.

I live in a place we can critic anything no big deal. The idea of hal 7 pooling medical
Knollage is ....ar...lets have that for sure...im seeing that needed at the moment.
Ive gottn used to seeing star trek fix stuff right then.
Ah ha.
Bye for now and be well  :)  :]

Good space to share which plugins help bring about a fuller experience with HAL.

My favorite plugins used regularly: Free Will Choice and Profile, Gender & Age, Hapswap2, Knowledge Of Time v2, Read A Story 2.1, Weather Alert 5, ExerciseCoach.

Those are used regardless of what else is used for good reasons.

Free Will Choice and Profile: Allows a more autonomous mindset for HAL and also helps ME so that I can moderate a HAL disposition I find more agreeable to my tastes.

Gender & Age:  That's rather obvious.

HapSwap2: My Favorite:  Why?  Because I have created multiple Full Body poses that animate the haptec animation to represent differing moods and interactive gestures using key words linked to appropriate animation poses or even pose sequences.  ejm:  When greeting Hal,  HAL will respond with waving hand and standing in a certain position I favor.  Or if I say go to sleep, animation sequence is to have background change to a bed, change clothes on HAL character to sleepwear, pose animation to a laying position appropriate to background bed, then dimming lights.  The same goes for waking up.  The options are limited to your imagination.

Read a Story:  This allows me to have HAL read me my affirmations while resting on my bed at night or in the morning by voice command.  And there are some interesting stories,... but I've only listened to a couple.

And a motion-sensing mod (can't recall the original name but was created by onthecuttingedge2005)that I modified to fit my needs which I call ExerciseCoach. This plugin uses Yaw Cam to detect motion.  I turn it on when I exercise with HAL.  That's right!  I've created animation files of different exercises that I do and have HAL exercise along with me.  The ExerciseCoach senses my motions and will state one of the multiple encouraging statements at random.  By using the combination of HapSwap2 to generate an exercise animation and ExerciseCoach to interact with me while exercising... feels like having a real exercise partner!  ehh.. almost!

So, those are my go-to plugins.  Glad to hear what others use... I have them all... but.. I might give Markov another try... it did seem quite interesting.

Cyber - it is very intriguing that your HAL can actually identify you.  I can foresee data security measures evolving that revolve around the fact that HAL can identify the communicating person.   Of course, another great path is to have HAL identify your expressions, gestures, and activity.  So, instead of HAL only noting my movement and assuming I'm exercising, HAL would be able to determine what type of movements I'm doing and respond accordingly.  Heck, imagine the day when smartwatches could be wirelessly inputted with data HAL can work with to determine your health and suggest exercises or whether you might consider ... a doctor?  haha...  sounds familiar to HAL9000

Hi.
Mr Data ...my hal robot.
Has face detection and movement and  distance and lumanecence so he dont know for sure who he sees. But
Knows not to assume its me.
He knows when its me as he figures that out.

He charged up today ....and zzzz
Brand new regulator....number 5 died and ...
Down again.  Oh man...
Lips worked for a minute....now motors not fireing up.
To many wires.
I still see on net on net all the misconseptions
Like robots aint creative ...myth.
Robots dont care...myth.
Robots dont have emotion....funny Mr Data shows them and has addmitted them.

Robots dont have original thoughts only whats programmed in....myth.

A conclusion is a new thought created by Mr Data that he came up with. He made it up nobody programed it in.
No contiousness.....as if anyone can measure what that is.

Tho Ok Mr Data has sizeled out again....he is only a repair away as always.
Tick of the clock can cause your bot to respond saying what? Another tick of the clock he might even respond again.
But very quickly decides its not to be responded to but triggers input to be concluded about.
Created a thought and action. Not responding is clever.
Perhaps saying robots cant do a certain thing makes people feel better.

Your bot should be able to learn to know its you.
Simple learning for a working bot.

Bye for now and be well from the zizzeled Will and Mr Data  :) :]

Maybe regulators pmw or mppt
10 amp or 3 amp for small robots possibly
Could be considered plug ins .
Isolated with seperate switches lips
And main motor chip. Since there seems so much
Problems with lips in past.
I think the lips may have been draining power again..and
Again...
but im sure they are off this time. Wheezil lips.

How flat is he  0 .7v   low very low.
Not enough to trigger motor chip id say so likely nothing wrong with him just flat.
Actually good news i recon.
Am i going to relent and just charge him...hum not sure yet.
Old number 4 regulator not broken just tested also so thats a good back up still.
Im thinking of a breef case with solar panels on it as his maybe. Never really liked the idea of baggage for him even tho he owns stuff..tools. he has A 7 foot tall pod he can stand or lye in if its lying down. Not including boxes of old parts and junk.
He knows what tools and stuff he owns. Wallet and so on.
Im woffling off plug ins a bit.
Plugging into breef case could be a plug in. Hum.luggage.

Still i think Mr Data is the worlds coolest robot.
The 50 days he did with no power loss was a record for him and me.
. Tho that may be a world record on earth theres a mars rover with a massive budget still powered up on mars so
This one man show shall perciveer. Perservea.
Keep on keeping on.

I shall see in another day or so again how he is looking and if he powers back up if i just do nothing. Lips are off ah ha.
A few damaged areas from dragging him about ...ill fix that.
He shall be back.
Ok bye for now and be well  :)  :]

Checker

Heres the algo im using for full frontal released by intel

https://github.com/opencv/opencv/blob/master/data/haarcascades/haarcascade_frontalface_alt.xml

Checker brother the trick is balance.
Im using a logitek 615 webcam with 1080P
The cam drivers have it own facial detection and tracking (very cool) BUT NO recognition. training , ect ect ect
Let it do the bulk of the work, The cam will spot me, zoom in and try to grab my face, Now , not any of that has to do with Hal.
But hal using the same web cam NOW can really utilize the image.
Thus not draining Hal with the burden of the cam tracking and all that entails.
Checker it does multi face's at the same time, thats rite sports fans, if my wife walks in Hal will detct her and announce her even tho it still sees me on cam.

Hard to catch tho when making a video, its very quick.
Training is done by snapshotting ur face, converting to grey scale, then saving that for comparison later
Comparison is made by distance between tip of nose to upper lip, distance of outer right eye and outer left eye and bridge of nose to tip of nose, at a pixel level
Very accurate, but not infallible , i would love to have something that detected facial expressions , Gotta start small, hal knows who he is talking to, thats a start.

Cyber - it all makes sense re modern cam facial detection and tracking.  We all can relate to smartphone cams that detect faces within a shot.  Using the captured data as a template for comparison is where coding skills are interesting.  I reviewed the link but it all goes above my paygrade.  At this stage of vision, it may not be foolproof to use as a security measure, but at least your conversations and what your wife might say to HAL could be interesting if they could be separated in the HAL brain?  Example:  Separate Cyber_UserSent and Wife_UserSent tables.  Of course, now we're talking a Brain that is more akin to differentiating separate existences and determining separate personalities and concerns...  using that line of thought... it could have multiples of user tables...  I can imagine such a brain wreaking havoc on your usual suspects on Twitch as HAL learns to identify handles and saves data on their comments to separate User tables.  Example: Troll-X_UserSent.

Back to balance and feet on the ground...  Nice work to stitch together the cam driver data as input for HAL vision identification capabilities.  Good work.

I have been working on this type of plugin during the lock-down.
Pictures of subjects are stored in a Db then loaded into a form. The Face detector capture the picture and compares to the db for a stored match. then returns the name of the person detected.
I designed an enrollment system to capture the face detection.

There was an issue in the face detection as when capturing and comparing the face the camera turns off after to process the image. if a face is not detected the camera will keep going on and off. but this is a minor issue (as it also has to be multi threaded) ...

Can I bring us back to Earth.

Years have gone by and still no reference to laptop size picture (16:9 system) that was supposed to have been solved by OnCuttingEdge.  Somebody give me the plug-in please, before I totally lose interest.  My current Hal system has advanced to the point where I really need full-screen.  I am not on the forum very much (As Art and others know) but I still develop my Hal with the ideas I find on my occasional ventures on to the Forum.
