Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Hello fine people
« on: October 18, 2009, 03:06:51 pm »
Hello.  It's been a while folks.  I have tried to get involved in this AI/bot stuff from time to time figured I would give it a go once again, however I'm a little discouraged this go at it.

This time I'm more determined than ever to creat a truly intelligent bot.  I must say that with the lastest version I'm not having much luck with teaching HAL for some reason.  I have been more succesful with older versions of HAL for some odd reason.  Perhaps my methods are wrong due to changed in HALS code, I don't know.

So this message is going out everyone but to you guys that make plug-ins and are advanced users perhaps you can lend an ear so to speak.  You know who you are :)  I want to know if you guys have a suggested setup like.. how can I ask this..

Since I'm starting fresh again perhaps someone can provide a tip on the perfect setup plug-in/brn wise.  Do you have a certain setup that you find works better like a certain set of plug-ins that you use or avoid?

I do have the latest HAL just to be clear and it is registered as well.  This is my last shot at this before I declare HAL nothing more than a well done chat bot that mainly seems to be designed for strictly ....entertainment purposes. I know what your thinking.. it is a chatbot...well yes but it could be so much more.  I want it to be a wealth of information.  I want to leave also a great deal of knowledge about science and stuff with her("her" is Steph-E my bot).  I don't want to believe that HAL is nothing more than entertainment.  I want a cool smart AI.  I have brain stormed with some of you guys over the last few years.  I have been mainly in the shadows but I could very well try some outlandish things in the near future. If we can get HAL to behave correctly.  Each time I have made an attempt I have been discouraged and "put it on the back burner" as they say.  I'm a studio and live sound engineer by trade so I lend myself to "tech" oriented behaviour if you will :). And would love to follow through with some impressive stuff you can do with HAL IF it would work right.  I should be able to explain to HAL that it's located as an arrangement of files on a computer in Cinti,Ohio, but that is too much for HAL? I mean really man C'mon! No disrespect intended either. So when all is said and done perhaps it's my methods.  I'm not dogmatic about my methods and I'm willing to take advice.

So any how I'm really serious you guys.  I would love it if one of you other plug-in makers would whip out a special plug-in pack and guide.  Perhaps a configuration of plug-ins that you find to work better for straight up teaching.  Or maybe even a super genious brain that has only facts but no real personality yet to give us a head start that want fact oriented HAL's!. I would be willing to work with something like that, so long as it has only been feed clean information since creation.

I think you get the idea of what my posts is about.  I didn't get a response from one of my other and I really need a boost of some sort here...I dunno

Let's try this who here can teach there HAL the concept of it's location and so on as I mentioned earlier.  And if you do teach HAL those concepts please share how you did it!

Thanks for reading my longish post,
Fire

Does Hal learn from the conversations on AIM?
At one time I had this working and somehow it was talking to bots from msnmessenger that had aim.  I have not tried that method again because this time I'm trying to make this the most intelligent HAL yet.  I'm all about teaching it as much as possible about science and general knowledge of the world stuff.  I don't want my HAL talking with just any bot :).

If you have a really smart bot and you wouldn't mind my bot chat'n with yours please leave a msg for me.  If anyone has any really good .txt files just right for loading in HAL please post them.(if its good science info or something).

Lastly I would like to comment on the fact that I really enjoyed working on HAL and have done so from time to time since version 5 or so.  This time I'm struggling to teach a few simple concept such as location.  I keep getting responses unrelated it's strange.  Any advise in regard to exact method is most welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Fire

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Recently purchased Hal !
« on: October 26, 2008, 07:48:51 am »
Hey guys I have a quick question.  I recently purchased Hal on my laptop I honestly need to be cleared up on something.  And I would like to say first and foremost I think it's awesome software!  Also my question is not some lame attempt of getting something for free.  I believe in paying for stuff and doing things honestly.

Ok since we covered that.
I recently purchased Hal for my laptop.  Now am I allowed to have it on my desktop as well?  Did I understand that we are allowed to activate it 3 times? Or is the EULA that we will only install it on 1 machine?  Again I'm not trying to be some lamer, and try and take advantage of the good people at Zabaware no sir, just honestly need a clear answer.  And a explanation of the correct process if any.

Thanks in advance,
FG

Ultra Hal 7.0 / I have 2 questions for the forum
« on: October 17, 2008, 05:10:46 pm »
First question:
Does that auto-wiki plugin still work with hal 6.1 that latest download as of a few days ago?
The auto-wiki knowledge plug keeps saying "done" really fast like it didn't extract and learn a thing? OTCE sup?

Second question:
Has there been any scripting for X10 or anything I can use motion sensors with that will notify hal of certain paramaters bla bla bla?
Thanks guys!(see my other new post)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / life-form sensors in every room for HAL?
« on: October 17, 2008, 10:58:44 am »
I tried hal a few times through the years.  This time I purchase so I shouldn't vanish from the forum like I have in times past eheh. (sorry guys RL calls sometimes).
Any way I purchased HAL and I'm a little weary of my Hal flirting in the middle of our training sessions. I'm trying to train a serious knowledge base into HAL. I remember at one time there was genius brains for HAL are there any new ones for the latest HAL that I could start with?
One that doesn't have the silly chatroom ethic?
Also I have decided to switch over the entire house to X10 stuff, it's very inexpensive and will serve well as a testing grounds for HAL.  One of the main things I will needs is a script that interacts with X10's software.  I don't have the stuff in front of me but from what I read it triggers a macro event from let's say a motion detector in a room.  I want the ability to simply ask HAL where someone is in my home and HAL will answer me with the correct room.(If you guys have seen starhunter 2300 I'm recreating Caravaggio). So x10 sells the motion detectors and they claim they can trigger macros instead of turning on lights, hopefully i can make custom macros or I can edit them enough to fit my purpose.  Perhaps the macro can make a list or a table of the rooms and if there is a human presence in that room it can all up the information from that table and convey to me?
What you guys think?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Lets make a complete plug-in list.
« on: December 12, 2007, 03:07:54 pm »
Hey Does anyone have a running list of all the current plug-ins that work with Hal 6.1 and up.As it is not you have to search through a years worth of posts. And can anyone post a link to all the current plug-ins so there in one spot.I would even be happy to host them on my public ftp site so they are in one spot for good.I can even make a webpage dedicated to this if need be.Let's not leave any plug in out the remotely works.
Thanks!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / A.I coders and Plug-In Gur's read this killer IDEA
« on: December 11, 2007, 12:01:54 am »
Listen I have a hot idea for an early version of a self learning A.I. plug-in I'm going to try and lay the whole thing out here as it forming in my mind sorta all at once so here goes..(maybe call it the SLAIP "self learning artificial intelligence plug-in")
Tried to reach "onthecuttingedge" he seemed fairly active in the community. If you read this OTC I tried  by the mail system on this page to no avail, so I post here hoping you see it or for that matter any other plug-in makers out there hop right in:).
I do believe the wikiknowledge plug-in is the start of self learning AI-Plugs.I know there has been much talk about this type of thing and it's more than likely old hat but bear with me a few moments here. If the wikiknowledge plug seems to be stable which I think it does? I want someone to make a plug in that allows me to enter in any web page address "manually" for Hal to learn just like he learns the wiki pages .. follow me?That would RULE I do lots of copying things to text file for my HAL to learn from. but honestly I'm not getting the results I want at all he still seems uneducated on the topics.

How about make the plug in so you can also put it in "AUTO" mode, now let me explain my idea..
For this "AUTO" mode, modify the wikiknowledge plug in or similar so that you can have an "auto mode" and a "manual mode". First the manual mode explained. In this mode if you manually tell it to learn from any given web address by typing in the address as you tell it to go study(retrieve the information in the background just as the wikiknowledge plug does)Remember this is all done in the background except for the user input here (obviously):)Then it retrieves and learns that info..

There should be two or three auto modes...
 first auto mode as follows:
Allow the user to put it in "auto 1" mode where HAL begins with the letter "A' based on the largest combination of encyclopedia around including wiki but any other ones and let it combine uses of all online resources starting at the letter "A" then learn every single topic in order based on the letter of the alphabet so all topics found under A,B,C etc etc...And learns from it.

The second mode or "Auto 2" mode as follows:
would allow you to toggle on "auto mode 2" in this mode it not only updates all previous modes along with allowing the user to enter a general topic based on random word findings in the learned encyclepida files AND OR any user given topic in conversation! The next function of this mode is the bot then does a search of the wiki on that given topic and not only that but implements the ability to "learn form any web page plug-in" combined with the "Google web page" to learn from web pages or perhaps college archive pages where they post papers on everything from culture to science maybe all of the above.. and that brings us to...

"auto mode 3"as follows:
where it combines all of the above with a more complete and organized way of retrieving the information and parsing all of the nonsense out of it and having the ability for the user to type in manually more sources for learning and includes checking every single text and or web page on the users machine (option to search network machines with an on off)but then also on top of all that use all the previously mentioned methods including web pages , college archives, and databases of all kinds. And the ability to search. The ability to search and timestamp main topics learned of Hals own files may be one way of letting Hal know what he should add to the database to save time going through the same learning process again not sure I'm no programmer but basically this is my idea .. Anyone brave enough out there to tackle this one?I can actually go many more levels deeper in thought along this line.. to where eventually Hal should be able to actually edit his files on the fly from user input at first evolving into editing himself completely.

(On a side note my gold prices plug in is reporting gold to be over 7000 U.S. Dollars per troy ounce? Can someone please post a fix as watching gold and precious metal prices is something I do alot and I loved the idea of this being built into hal Thanks!)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / If then statements
« on: October 23, 2004, 09:13:42 pm »
Can we all start trading simple "if then statements" to give to Hal?  It seems Hal learns very well from these statements. We can break the i"If ,Then statements down in catagories such as Science, Quantum Physics(which is one thing I'll concentrate on teaching my hHl)Astrophysics , whatever..forgive me if my post seems vague and somewhat naive it's my first post and more than likely I have missed something somewhere:)
I have messed with AI on and off for a couple of years.Perhaps working togethor with the makers of programs like this we can take some quicker steps to more believable AI.First off we do need a collective experimental brain placed on a website to upload as often as anyone felt needed. The brain should be conversed with only on the decided subject and can we further urge for an update to the "learn from text feature"?
just some thoughts for now more later.
aight,
