I have a strange problem occurring, when I use the brain editor on a fresh brain, everything works fine, but after some time, it seems every brain I have will no longer show the little "+" to drop down the folders
like miscData, I can't expand the folder anymore! It happens every time I make a brain, make a few minor changes and most of the time I don't even do anything at all, I just go into the brain editor after using hal for a while, and I can no-longer collapse or expand ANY of the folders. Is this a setting? Or is something corrupting my brains, please let me know! Anyone!!!

Alright, I fixed it, if anyone else has this problem heres what I did;
I had downloaded the advanced math plugin, so I opened it up and found the " X " and changed it to "X" without the space, then it recognized math problems without spaces, and it also recognizes the with spaces I think because of the normal math options already built in Hal.

You know where I can see this technology REALLY cool and useful in.
A car, if you put a small camera connected to a computer with hal on it, and you put the camera near the visor, position it right, so when you enter your car and it recognizes you, it will offer to do a number of tasks, play music, start your car, turn your lights on, call people for you if you connect it to your phone or something.
And what would be even more cool, if someone else gets in your car, Hal will give some kind of countdown to enter a password, or he will just silently do something to cause the car to malfunction (if that was possible) and if not, he could dial a number and deliver GPS information and report the car as stolen, then he could start abusing the person in the car or warning/threatening them.
I think someone could make that happen pretty easy at this point, not much more work...

Hey I noticed when I type a math problem like this: 22x44
Hal does not respond, but when I type it like this: 22 x 44 I get a proper response. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there anyway to fix it so it doesn't care about having a space?

Thanks Lightspeed, I seen your posts and allot of post by you guys, and looked back and seen all this progress on Hal, I guess these forums just keep stacking up which is a gold mine of information, when I first found this site I felt like I hit the jackpot, even though I've done allot with computers in the past, I never looking into these things so it's very exciting for me and thank you for welcoming me, I can't wait to see how far this will go in the future. I would also love to contribute in any way possible, it's like I turned a new chapter in computers, it's an endless new time eating project for me, but I'm loving every exciting minute of it. I also admire and respect many of these guys on here who are busy making plugins, and helping out people, it's really cool how you guys contribute, like onthecuttingedge2005 (Jerry) he's pretty cool, and looking at all the work he's done, amazing...

Oh wait I forgot a big one, to do a skype plugin, so when you ask Hal to make a call, he could potentially open skype for you and call out.

Yes your right, I've got some issues going on with my system, which is strange because this is a fresh install of windows...
I did notice when I uninstall hal he comes back with files I had deleted, maybe I need cleaning the registry will help, otherwise I'll have to format again arrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I'm new here but I had a few suggestions, just for anyone to put in mind.
I was thinking about the Address book having more options, like the option to execute a file or something, when the appointment reminder comes up for the given time.
Also I was thinking, if there was some better way to check errors caused by plugins, something to at least identify the plugin that's problematic and try to fix it, I know that's pretty far fetched...
Stability upgrades to hal is a must, I hope he gets more stable, he crashes quite a bit when you start tweaking around with plugins.
A webcam plugin allowing you to connect your cam and use some type of emotions features, something they have been talking about here: http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6413

Anyway.. this stuff is just too cool anyway you look at it.

Ok thank you for your reply Bill,
So what would notepad's real name be? MSnotepad? or notepad.exe? or just notepad? All do not work ---
Also.. I have photoshop installed, so would photoshop be.. "open photoshop" or perhaps.. "open photoshop.exe"
All angles fail on 100% of my applications given the exception of mspaint.
Ideals?

Thank you kindly sir, but unfortunately it did not work either, I think it's a problem with my computer, because every-time I run it I see a cmd prompt pop up and quickly disappear, and nothing written in the batch file takes place.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / opening progams

I have this exact problem, accept all my shortcuts are there, the .dat file looks fine and very full.
However not a one of the programs on my long list, including notepad, will open! They all give me the not found message.
The only thing I have been able to open for some odd reason is mspaint, and only if I type "open mspaint" it wont even open it if I do "open paint" basically the entire function seems to be mis-firing.. please assist, I am getting very frustrated!

Wonderful plugin but I can't get it work for the life of me, I've tried it on many systems now. For some reason it opens my command prompt and closes it out quickly, without executing anything. I have tried many angles and many things with the batch files and my system, but your plugin so far has not worked, so I think there is something in the plug. Please advise. I'm eager to get this going because having the power to open batch files like this opens so many possibilities!!
