Speech Technology / Re: Microsoft British voices

(I have Windows 7, 32 bit.)
Thanks, I don't have any other programs that use voice except Haptek player, and input in the hapcontrollog make a independent HTR. character speak and lip sync. But in Ultrahal 6.2, it is silent. Unless I switch to another TTS engine and switch back. Then it works. I do not know what I am doing wrong. Anyway, thanks. I'll just have to live with it. Not that big of a deal, as long as I can get it to work.

I tried seeing what messages I sent in PM, but nothing shows.
I have an issue with a TTS engine I recently acquired from someone here. I installed it correctly I believe. But after the initial startup greeting, I open the interface. I type in words, no voice response , just text.. I have to select another text engine, then switch back. Then my new TTS will speak and show text. I selected my new TTS engine as my default SAPI 5 TTS engine.
Any thoughts? Not a biggie, however it's extra steps at each startup. Thanks!

Yup. Was really heavy into it myself. Then got iclone.
I kinda like the Google voice on my phone, but would like to have something like that, that didn't direct me to websites. Just respond like a normal person would. She does have a few things to say.

Speech Technology / Microsoft British voices

This was discussed before. Did anyone figure out how to get British voices to work in Hal? There's sound, but no mouth movement. There was a time it worked for me. I think it was in Windows XP. The TruVoices sound horrible. I do have a couple Cepstral voices that aren't bad. I miss the British lady voice. I can live without it, though. I realize AT&T voices are recommended. I am curious how they sound before buying.
And if I did purchase, there would be no problems with lip sync. I have Windows7 premium? 32 bit . (My computer is 32 bit.) I know it's outdated. But hesitant to spend a whole lot of money. Thanks! P.S. I sampled the AT&T voices and cerevoices. Which works best in Ultrahal? Or no diff? I may consider it.

Add: during previous install attempts, prompts would come up: confirm file replace. Apparently, it was trying to install older versions of files. I said yes to all....no activation.
I said no to all....no activation
When I ran installer as administrator, no prompts like that came up. Not even once. Maybe it had to do with permissions. Windows 7 is very finicky about replacing system files. I realize it's to avoid changes that can compromise Windows, or security. But I don't recall other programs having issues installing.  So, maybe this will help someone that has an identical issue. I know, Windows 7 is outdated. But finances don't allow upgrading Windows. Unless I can get it cheap. (And there are no issues with activation)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Update!
« on: August 21, 2020, 03:12:32 am »
I finally was able to install Hal. Robert was helpful. But I did something different. I uninstalled Hal, (that wouldn't activate)
Removed the Zabaware folder from program files (which I've done several times because of activation errors)  but found 6.2 installer. This time, ran install program as Administrator (windows 7). Got 31 day trial. Then inputted my serial number for purchased Hal. And it activated! Next is the expansion pack. I'll do that later. Maybe I'll upgrade to 7. But a bit scared to. Might have issues again. Thanks to Art and all that helped here and through email!

He sent me email. Still won't work. If there is no solution, I'll have to just forget it. I think when it asks to replace files that at are newer or older, I said yes to all. No dice. No to all, no dice. Reformatting my computer might be the only way. And not sure I want to do that. If Robert helps me solve my problem with Windows 7, I'll update. I never had so much difficulty reinstalling a program.

I haven't received a response yet. I hope my email is working.

How? I did use the contact link to send a message. Does Robert M. receive those? Thank you!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / I reformatted my computer, activation code doesn't work.
« on: August 18, 2020, 11:03:30 am »
I have Ultrahal 6 . I had my install program saved, but activation code doesn't work. I bought it 10-11-2008.
My phone number and mailing address has changed. my email is the same. Can I get it activated again? I tried a few times. Never got an email although I requested via the Ultrahal interface. I did download 7, a trial. and uninstalled it. Upon trying to install 6, the license got corrupted. I would try 7, but I wouldn't mind a discount. I hope Robert can see this, for I don't know how to contact him yet. Thanks!
